A UT2k4 weapons set has sommat like that. The Thermal Projector. Combine with arena mode and All Weapons Insta-Gib to get a Martian Death Match.

As for me, I dunno. Preferably a pistol with a good rate of fire and a scope. Add lots of damage.

A chrono weapon, ala Red Alert 2 would be pretty sweet, now that I think of it. Sure it's a large, cumbersome weapon whose range leaves much to be desired, but you can wipe out basically any 1 target nice and fast.

Of course, the munchkin in me wants an automatic version, the ability to Fire and Forget would be nice too, rather than fire and hang out for 30 seconds.

A gun that shoots dogs that shoots bees, of course.

But realistically, I'd like an airburst grenade launcher, with a laser rangefinder and all those goodies. It would be difficult to use, but a properly placed grenade could wipe out a whole squad of troops from behind cover.

Oh, what was that one.... The Ban Gun?
You fire it and it bans the poor sod at the other end from the server, permanently.

A laser pointer - guiding the nearest missile with a nuclear payload, usable by cheaters only.

Something like the dartrifle from Hyperion - 10 000 needles of pain travelling at 1km/s away from the user.

A Zorg ZF-1 (Fifth Element) clone. 7 different weapons included - chainsaw, pistol, shotgun, minigun, rocket launcher, plasma rifle and the really Big Fucking Gun. Also as a last resort - the Self-Destruct button.

A Rabbit Assault Cannon - shoot rabbits at near Mach 1 velocities, beltfed.

They had that in Red Faction.

I'd like something akin to an M16 with a M203 grenade launcher. Something that has decent stopping power, a monstrous alt-fire (RPG), a sniper-mode, burst fire, semi-auto fire, and silenced, with no flash.

Anti-tank rifle.

They've always had so much more charm than a rocket launcher to me.

The Shrinking Gun from Duke Nukem, able to affect objects and disrupt shields, unlimited payload, rate of fire of the mini-gun from Terminator 2, the energy pulses being super-sonic, and with range measured in kilometers.

There was a particularily cruel weapon in a quake 2 mod I used to play, weapons of mass destruction it might have been called. One of the grenade types was called the Cataclysm grenade, or something similar. You'd need 10 grenades to toss one, but golly was it effective. It would explode, a big sort of explode you'd expect from something with the word cataclysm in it's name. Then it would send it waves of fire in every direction, at the same time, it would chuck a buch more grenades, which in turn would also throw around another grenade. I think it may have stopped there, and the child grenades got progressively weaker (mind you that they were always a lot more powerful than those grenades from the vanilla game). But basically it lays waste to a sizeable region.

Well there was one map where the area that people always seemed to congregate (had a lot of spawn points perhaps?) that was basically a large circular open area. I'd make my way to the top, collecting grenades on the way up. And when I'd reach the top, I'd send one of those babies down into the fray.

Everyone would die. It was delicious. I'd like those again, it was fun... as long as you are not on the recieving end of course.

Weapons of Destruction, aka Weapons, aka WOD. That map with the big round area is The Edge (Q2DM1). The Cluster grenade and the Cataclysm Device are two different grenade types, but both quite fun and deadly.

Quake 4 has a remake of The Edge, and Weapons of Destruction is also being remade for Quake 4...

Frankly, there's nothing that beats a good ol' shotgun nine times out of ten. SPAS-12 style works for me. 8-shot capacity, good stopping power and perfect for the sneaky bastard standing above you, waiting to drop down and turn your back into ground meat. Now, slap that under a hefty automatic rifle, like the M-16 or OCIW, and you'd have a weapon I could really respect. Couple it with a scope mode for the rifle and double-shot feature for the shotgun (where it discharges 2 shells simulataneously, bigger spread, shorter range, more damage at close ranges) and you'd have just about the perfect weapon for me.

One weapon I liked alot was the grenade launcher from Pariah. Upgraded, it was a beast, with a remote detonator, sticky feature ala Halo's plasma grendades and fragmentation effect. Shit, give me a hybrid Assault Rifle/Grenade Launcher/Shotgun with a scope, remote detonation and doubleshot respectively. Long, Short and Crowd, all in one. Oh, and the obligatory ability to smack some fool in the head with the butt of this monster!

Don't be ridiculous. A BDZ requires strategic levels of firepower, whereas a Redeemer's warhead is at most tactical.

That was a good gun. Very useful in Deathmatch, especially when you were firing down from a height.

I liked the entire Duke Nukem arsenal, really. Even the tripwire bombs--also a fantastic deathmatch toy.

The devastator was a great idea, so were the freeze and shrink rays.

A cool idea that I've been pondering might be a "chaos gun." That would allow you to drop a sticky prox/remote/timed mine or rocket that, when detonated, releases warp energy splash damage and makes the environment grow tentacles, chains and teeth and various other "chaotic" and hellish environmental hazards and aesthetics for a short amount of time. Couple it with weird lighting effects, fog, etc, and it would produce a psychologically imposing weapon that would pretty much be the ultimate for getting someone off your back or "polluting" a strategic area.

Also, if you want to use that gun in a mod, call it the Rye gun or something. :D
