Bleh, Wong has something to say about rating movies based on personal preference.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

For gods sake have you even seen wrath of Khan?Recycled TWOK plot eh? TWOK had an evil clone, the main enemy taking over an enemy government, an evil android, an enemy ship that vastly outgunned the heroes ship, a battle in a nebula, the son of the captain, the lover of the captain...
Oh, really. We're not allowed to think about movies. Is that what you think of everyone else's personal opinion, Alyeska? What makes your opinion that people are thinking too much about it more correct than everyone else's? You're telling everyone that they're over-analyzing the movie. Maybe if I go back and watch Enterprise, and don't think about it very hard, it won't suck. Guess the personal opinions of the intellectual part of the population don't matter when there are legions of morons who are ready to tell us that we're wrong for no reason, whatsoever.Alyeska wrote:He does have a point in that people are over analyzing the movie WAY to much. Sure, I bitch about contradictions in Trek movies, but that didn't make TWOK a bad movie.
I defy you to point out ONE plot-hole in AotC that's as noticeable in that film as, say, Skippy's decloaking of part of the Scimitar for no reason, whatsoever. They haven't pointed out anything, either, so don't bother looking at their site for help.Alyeska wrote:YOU see more plot holes in Nemesis. YOU think AOTC has better SFX and VFX. THEY have a DIFFERENT opinion then YOU. Yours is no more correct then theirs. It is personal OPINION, not FACT.

Moreover, there is no way that the SFX in Nemesis are half as good as those in AotC. There's simply no way. This can come down to a matter of opinion, but that is warping reality. Sorry.
LMAO! You mean that all this time you've been defending a movie against another one that you haven't even seen? How the hell do you even know which movie had better SFX, then? You are SURE that it's subjective, and not objective? Are you SURE that the plot things are subjective, rather than objective?Alyeska wrote:I can't point out plot holes for a movie I haven't seen.
I have not once defended the movie. I have questioned your attitude in insulting other people on their OPINION of a movie.Master of Ossus wrote:LMAO! You ought to be over on Trekbbs ravaging their boards then. Do you know they've held a campaign to throw out everyone who they call "Trek bashers?" By that, they mean anyone who doesn't like ENT.Alyeska wrote:I have not once defended the movie. I have questioned your attitude in insulting other people on their OPINION of a movie.
I take it they aren't very big fans of Ex Astris since he dislikes most aspects of Enterprise.Master of Ossus wrote:You ought to be over on Trekbbs ravaging their boards then. I don't know. I haven't been monitoring their board for very long, but when one person told them he did not like "Nemesis," they got really upset with him and flamed him, calling him a "Trek-basher" and similar things. Since then, a couple of people I've seen have come forward and said they didn't like the movie, but all of them have justified it with something like "I'm no Trek-basher, I like Enterprise," or something similar. To be honest, they kind of intimidated me. I was going to stand up for the one guy who got attacked first, but then I realized it was kind of a lost cause and decided not to register to say something, after all. He was long-gone, by the time I got my password confirmed, anyway.Alyeska wrote: I take it they aren't very big fans of Ex Astris since he dislikes most aspects of Enterprise.
Hmm, I might have to take a look in there more often. I have a long lost account there for way back when.Master of Ossus wrote:I don't know. Apparently, this gentlemen practices the T'Pol form of logic, which makes no sense. Fortunately, the vast majority of the people over there now seem to understand the truth of the matter. That statement [that Nemesis was terrible] is illogical because those who have seen the movie can not judge whether it is good or not.
http://www.trekbbs.com/ubb/Forum31/HTML/002064.htmlWell I saw TTT yesterday and the good news for Star trek fans is that TTT is some kind of goddamn boring movie way more BORING than Nemesis. Nemesis stank but at least it wasn't like taking a valium overdose, so all those people in TTT might fall into a coma and then sleepwalk into the Nemesis section.
(lame defense on) Well it IS a mater of opinion (lame defense off)Master of Ossus wrote:The more I look at this site, the more I realize that many of its members are just quietly furious about how Trek is going, and the rest are BLINDLY loyal to Star Trek. Check out this dumb-ass.

and another thing Gollum is a disturbed schizophrenic. Watching that thing is freaking creepy.
Followed by:I don't think this BBS is a good example of what people think about Nemisis. People like me who love Nemisis might avoid this board for fear of the all-too-common irrational bashers of the film.
It's a lot of fun to go to a BBS and complain about a film, but it sucks to go to a BBS to defend it.
Maybe there should be two differant forums: Those who liked it and those who didn't. Maybe the non-bashing-forum would turn out far more popular, and far less competitive.
Then again, what fun is that, for the bashers? It can be dull to go to a BBS and have everyone agree with you.
But at least then they'd start to shut up.
Just wishful thinking.

I am quickly finding this a much better board than the Trek BBS.
This board has always seemed 50/50 to me. Neutral ground. The opinions of others shouldn't bother you if you don't let them. Honest!
[MoO note: All of the "bashing" consisted of polite disagreement, stating that they did not like the movie, or this: "Considering people are staying away from the movie in droves...I think the so called "bashers" are in the majority off-line too."]Uh....50/50? Have you seen the above replies? They bashed Sara of Borg for wishing they were civil!
As for the movie, everyone I have talked to loved it. This board just happens to be the biggest and the loudest.
