This seriously reads like something that SuperShadow would have masturbated into existance.

Well, it seems that despite a successfull and very entertaining conclusion to the Movies, Star Wars will still go the way of Trek. With various authors pulling shitty stories out of their asses and fanwhores like supershadow gobbeling them up, fecal matter and all. After the excellent conclusion of the prequel trilogy in ROTS, I had hoped Wars would be given a dignified ending, but I don't have much hope anymore

The Expanded Universe was responsible for maintaining a level of fan interest in Star Wars and keeping it in the public profile long after RotJ finished. I'm not entirely ungrateful, no matter how sucky some of the plots are. As for this comic- bah. I don't read EU in general, I only like the movie reference books, which is why I own almost the entire DK series. Labyrinth of Evil and Dark Lord were a recent exception, since they form a trilogy with the RotS novelization. I also have Crimson Empire I and II, Dark Empire I, II, and Empire's End, and the Zahn novels in comic form form, but that's only because I got them for free from somewhere.

While Sue Rostini had said that the Legacy era would span the decades, I didn't give it much heed. Regardless, I'm sticking with what I said in the Worst Novels thread -- with the exceptions of any more Clone Wars-era material and James Luceno novels, I'm done with the post-ROTJ EU and this pretty much seals it...

It'll probably have beam-porters. And quantum turbophasers.

Well, at least it's a hundred years ahead of everything else, so if it doesn't go over well, it can safely be ignored without messing with too much.

No, no, why couldn't this be 2 months from today, then we could all just enjoy a good laugh over the blown out of proportion reactions.

I wonder they'll have some badass, yet hot and sexy, female character who's always arguing with Cade. That would be fresh and totally unexpected.

Watch it be the female Sith lord who is seduced by Cade's roguish charms

Since they're going to do this no matter what anyone says, they might as well use the tried and true gimmick of "Palpatine The Undying". Seriously, now that we're already in fan-wank territory, why not bring him back?
Let Lumiya have had a vessel prepared for his soul, let him brood/plot/scheme a few decades (it's not like he's hasn't been the underdog before), and then slowly corrupt the "Galactic Alliance" or whatever they're calling it this month. I never liked his "death" in EE anyway (being dragged with another soul into the Force? WTF). I'm not saying it's a good idea, I'm just saying it might improve a nigh unsalvagable situation. :P

I'll only read any of this if she wears a cloak. And nothing else. :P

Is that a joke? It could entirely be possible.

This reads like a marketing tie-in for the next in their line of first-person shooters.

And so Star Wars chose the path of an undignified, drawn out death.
It is a sad day.

My first thought when I read this: bloody hell, that's one bad pirate.
Then, when I realized that it was for real (most likely, I still have the remnants of my shattered hope), my thought was: oh dear...
It doesn't look good. Both in plot prospects (new Empire? New Sith Order? Oh dear...) and that main character is a rip-off of Quinlan Vos, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and the Jedi exile in KotOR 2.
Damn, now I'm depressed.

Yes it's quite amazing how they managed to combine that many characters into one. 'Amazing' as in 'fucking pathetic'.
Is that a joke? It could entirely be possible.
It was meant as a joke but the realization of how plausible it would be to use as an actual plotpoint, now dawns on me. Wouldn't be the first time they've made retcons to connect new plots with old eras. (Although the previous Yuuzhan Vong cross-era-retconning ranks up there with ST's Borg/TNG references in pre-TOS times as fucking terrible ideas, whose inventors should be shot. Repeatedly.)

Dear god, kill me! Kill me now!
...Anyone else notice that all the renders are hideous? I'm assuming the usage of Poser or something similar. I've seen amateur artists make more attractive images.

The cause of this is that small minority of total fanboys who'll buy anything they produce. Just like with Trek, you don't have to worry about not making bullshit when the freaks will not descriminate at all. Just look at that thread at Dark Horse.

I saw the top half of the cover, and my first thought was that it was some piece-of-shit fan fic or fan film. Instead, it's a piece-of-shit Dark Horse comic.
One of the alluring things about writing in the Star Wars Universe is that it's huge. You can tell any story you want. All we've been getting from these writers is the same fucking story with the same fucking characters over and over again.
Here's a novel idea. How about a story that doesn't involve the Jedi, Skywalkers, a new Empire, the Sith or the Force at all?

Setting it many years into the future could be interesting; they could do something completely new. But it seems like that's not what they're going to do, which is a damn shame. Oh, and they're going to have another nearly naked Twi'lek woman in it, too! Are Twi'lek females extraordinarily warm-blooded or why is it so rare for them to wear actual clothes?
The Twi'lek looks pretty evil actually, with those gloves and everything (no wait, besides underwear, those gloves are everything she is wearing. That makes sense). I wonder if she'll be turned to the good side by that Cade person and then start lamenting over the evil deeds she did. But you just know that Cade himself at some point is going to do just that at least; "Woe is me! If only I hadn't turned my back on the Jedi and changed my name I could have saved all those people."
Yep, shit. Too bad.

I think an interesting story would be to jump an abritrarily large number into the future, the jedi are extinct, the galaxy in turmoil from pirating and the government simply doesn't care anymore, due to lack of effective law inforcement on a galactic scale, and one "lucky" guy discovers an ancient repository of knowledge of coruscant.
Thats a Star Wars story that would pique my interest.

To be quite brutally honest, this is really no worse than some of the previous comicbook escapades. Come on, who did not groan when finding out that Palpatine reincarnated himself into a backup Empire at Byss that had somehow stayed hidden and passive all that time? That's at least as retarded as anything we're seeing here.

most Twi'lek females outside Ryloth are slaves, as IIRC Ryloth is very isolationist
