I'm going to guess it's not US-style supercarrier, but rather a smaller escort-carrier. Those don't always have catapults.

But by using those types of plates, he can accurately simulate battle damage....

It is a US supercarrier, specifically the U.S.S Truman. It is just Legoized.

In my experience lego constructions do not float unless you use special boat hull pieces
