An Imperial officer with handlebar mustache and a Mexican accent would be awesome...
No, a Mexican with a handlebar mustache would have to be a heroic Rebel bandito named Pancho Villa ... in SPACE!

Just as long as the writers have a big sign over their desks saying "This is NOT Star Trek" and are instructed to always remember that sign. The last thing I want to hear in a Star Wars TV show would be something about shield frequencies or subspace microvariances. When something goes wrong with the technology, they should use the already-existing repair techniques: Rip and Replace (as per the hyperdrive on Padme's ship in TPM) and the Han Solo method: hit it with something.

Just out of curiousity...

A TV show would, being licensed from Lucas, I would assume to be a high level of Canon. What if, IF, there WAS an eposode where they said "Remodulate our shield frquancies!"
?

I would assume that the two upcoming series would have the same level of canonicity as all of the previous television properties, which is that they'll remain strictly within the territory of the EU.

Of course its ultimate status of canonicity will depend on future clarification by Lucasfilm, but I personally don't see a major change from the general trend.

I would imagine that would be the case with the new CW cartoon, but I'm actually anticipating that the live-action might actually end up being G-canon, or at least very close. Even though GL won't be directing it or anything, I would imagine he would take a more active interest, and guide the story more directly.

As I've said before, my cynical side can imagine James Earl Jones and Samuel L. Jackson doing guest spots as Vader and Mace (w/artificial arm) squaring off in some major episode during May sweeps in a couple of years.

Anything outside of the movies = EU. Even stuff Lucas worked with.
