Ravenloft was a more subtle danger, if played correctly. The quickest way to die in Ravenloft is to hack-n-slash it.

Never played straight Ravenloft, but Masque of the Red Death was just...well...evil. Don't even think about casting half the spells that exist, and you better have some darn good research done about a monster before you go after it, or you'll find it's immune to everything you can throw at it.

There is no amount of evil laughter that truly demonstrates how much I love the rule about familiars and summoned mounts in Ravenloft.

Ids with telepathic links to their owners, willing to do anything they think about wanting to.... And with no moral compass...
