That's right, when you and Marcus were over here last year you said the same thing. This project has been going on for, what, a couple years?

I consider this a good thing, this game has been in development for so long it could look like nothing BUT arse. Its graphics must be about 2 years behind.

Let alone that the gameplay looked lacklustre

It had the giant stamp of doom on it at least a year ago, probably more. When WoW looks better than a 1st person shooter slated for release within 1-2 or so years, you know you are in trouble.

On a vaguely related note, did Blizzard ever give any reason why they were so virulently opposed to, you know, actually making a Starcraft 2?
If I had to guess, it would be the same reason they didn't make a new Diablo(before the Diablo people left for Hellgate: London). They are still making decent change on it that they suspect they'd loose if they made a sequel. Hell I've bought the game twice after my first CDs got played to uselessness.

Hahahaha, I have a good story about Starcraft 2.

When I was in Grade Ten or Eleven there was this guy who'd come in and talk about Starcraft 2 in math class. Every single class. He'd say he had some inside guy who knew it was in development. Everything from Homeworld style arena combined with ground battles in the traditional 2D to Goliath bunkers to firebats equipped with marine weapons to real fighters and 3 different maps each one representing space, land and air to be controlled simultaneously... he appeared to know everything about Starcraft 2.

There was this one guy who kept buying it, sitting next to him every single class and listening, asking questions... I didn't know it at the time, but now I feel sorry for him. There will always be people like that though who just want to listen to shit and not think for themselves...

...but damn it was so funny hahaha.

GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, do those ring any bells
They were awkward. You couldn't finely aim and move at the same time. Have fun shooting up. Most of the time, you had to sidestep targets into your reticule.
You must have just sucked then. I recall playing Goldeneye 64 for hours on end with no noticeable controller problems. Though I guess it depends on how you attempted playing it. :P

It's not a controller problem, it's the playing style. Because it took so long to move the targeting reticule... aiming was pointless if the person was on the same plane as you. Rather, just strafe around him and kick their ass while they're trying to make a bead on you.

I suspect that you might be surprised at people who don't aim and just plain strafe with controllers. The half a second you take to aim... a strafing guy will already be outta the way and firing back. No surprise that strafing works on a less than perfect aiming system, since it works with a mouse and keyboard against newbies... I remember Quake 3 on computer and circle strafing with the rocket launcher and firing on the ground beside the target rather than the target itself one of the most effective tactics.

In other words Neph might be able to kick your ass :P.

I can relate. I knew of a kid who once whipped out his dick in comp sci.

At least I think that's kind of the same thing. :?
