Not possible. Even ignoring the legality issues of emulation in general, Nintendo owns the patents to emulating its consoles, so even if emulation was legal Microsoft would still be liable for patent infringement.

That was by far the worst news I had ever had regarding a Nintendo console.
Because Rare had gone downhill big-time. They were taking longer and longer to develop their games, and Nintendo just got fed up with it. If you recall, they released 2 Xbox games total, one of them being that "Ghoulies" game and the other being a multiplayer remake of "Conker's Bad Fur Day" that, like the original, was not released until just before the end of its console's lifespan. Nintendo simply didn't think Rare was worth the trouble, and I think that Rare's performance has supported this conclusion. Kameo, which was started during the N64 era, didn't end up getting released until the Xbox 360, 2 generations later. Star Fox Adventure was supposed to be an N64 title, but got released on the GC. perfect Dark Zero was pushed back from the GC to the middle of the XBOX period to the XBOX 360.

Not much I don't already have, although it would have been nice to try a couple later Rare games I missed.

I do hope Nintendo gets its hands on Blast Corps' rights; I sold that game for $15 a couple years ago and the only problem was the lack of an option to play the completed stages in 'Clear-All' Time Trial/free play mode (You'd first play the stage clearing a path for the tanker, then revisit it in a clear-all mode with no time limit, and then you'd just be stuck replaying it with a Time Trial mode for path-clearing *only*. Why oh why?).

Rare had never, throughout the N64's lifespan been particularly quick with getting games out, but those they did were absolute gems. (Conker's, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Jetforce, Banjo etc)

I do see your point about them sliding though - Starfox on the gamecube was a steamer for sure, and apparently Perfect Dark on the XBox is similar. When looking at what they've done since, they don't look so brilliant. But what could have been... *sigh*

They release 2 Xbox games and 1 GC game (so 3 games this generation). By comparison they released 11 N64 games and 7 SNES games.
