I wonder what he's saying now?

Speaking of Bob Brown, has anyone heard what he thought about ROTS? Or has he cut all ties to SW, fanbased and otherwise?

Notice that normal people like Dan Wallace and Abel G. Pena like us just fine.
VT-16 wrote:Yeah, I read that tirade about the Wiki. Ahh, so infuriating to see sources that don't agree with her getting highlighted. Not to mention the ever-growing number of battles in the CW section. 8)
The 3D CW series is gonna be brutal in that respect.
Don't be so sure. As KT's novels have been quite successful, it's possible that the people behind the show have been influenced by that so that we'll only see small-scale skirmishes involving a few null-ARCs or regular clone soldiers singing "Vode An". :P

Next you'll be telling me Lucas har lost interest in big, extravagant CG battles. :P

I was looking at the Wookiepedia article on Coruscant and the population section was trying very hard to fit in one of the EU minimalist population estimates of 1 trillion. It got really absurd in a couple places--
1) To justify the figure, they tried to claim that large parts of Coruscant would be nearly empty. As evidence, they used examples like the public space around the Senate building (which was at most a couple miles across!), the supposed "Western Sea" aquifer on Coruscant in addition to its icecaps (which cannot be seen in any of the many views of the planet from space during the prequels), and industrial areas. And maybe the industrial areas are sparsely people, except for one problems--(A) even if they take up 50% of the surface and nobody lives there at all, that still makes 1 trillion citizens an incredible lowball estimate.
2) They try to pretend that maybe the vast skyscrapers are sparsely peopled, using the example of Padme's large apartment. They describe her as "a single woman of relatively modest tastes" which is just fucking mind-boggling. She's an extremely wealthy former queen and current Senator, taking her as an example is unbelievably distortionary.

Godawful jackasses.

Heh, I remember an article in the Kansas City Star back in the late nineties about Kevin J. Anderson and how he was now the "Duke of Star Wars" or somesuch thing and gave him basically all the credit for the EU.

'Course, the same article also claimed that certain things were banned in Star Wars writings, like sex, illegal drugs, graphic violence, and cussing... and, having just read I, Jedi, I was like what?

Sticking my thumb in a dike hardly appeals when the dike was designed to be a sieve. Trying to "fix" a Wiki is almost certainly futile, and while I respect the determination behind trying, it's not something I'd waste my time on.

Exactly. Remember, this is a Wiki, you can make any edit you want. :)

It would be difficult to outright erase that stupid 1 trillion number (which is explicitly stated in C-canon, but unfortunately not explicitly contradicted by G-canon). However, you have to know how to make your case. Any of the pathetic minimalist excuses that you mentioned above can be deleted as the unsupported "speculation" that they are. :) You can even try to do so quietly, not bothering to write an explanation for your edit that would raise the attention of the minimalists. You can also use the "Behind the Scenes" sections to point out logical problems with the number (the minimalists sure don't refrain from using BTS sections to rant about things they don't like  ).

Bullshit. If you let people like Hodge do all that crap, you'll only end up with countless more n00bs going on about WEG-induced sources after reading the Wiki. That's why I appeal to more experienced people to tackle it, I'm not going to sit by and watch this shit multiply even more and continue to propagate in debates.

Btw. I chewed him out on the Coruscant talk pages. I know there isn't an official figure for a higher population number, but his fan-induced crap has got to go.

Its very structure as a Wiki and the philosophy makes that kind of fight basically unwinnable. There's only the remote hope that, after days of wrangling and argument, that you could have the topic edited to your satisfaction and then locked so that people can't sneak in the next day and fuck it up. So you feel strongly enough about Wookiepedia to spend the time to try and make it a better resource--more power to you.

The time-saving option is to ignore Wookiepedia in debates just as Wikipedia is ignored.
Btw. I chewed him out on the Coruscant talk pages. I know there isn't an official figure for a higher population number, but his fan-induced crap has got to go.
Ah, but there is official support for a higher figure--the evidence of eyes and functioning brains. There's no way that a planet with the observed characteristics of Coruscant can have an average population density of around 2,700/km^2 (going from the diameter given in the same article). That's quite roomy for a city, comparable to Buffalo, NY or Cleveland, OH--and utterly incomparable to what we have seen with our own eyes of Coruscant. In order for Coruscant to have a population of merely 1 trillion, the great majority of the planet would have to be deserted.

EDIT:
I looked at the discussion page on it and it only reinforced my total lack of interest in engaging these people. "This book I saw said it's 1 trillion," like the legate who refused to look through Galileo's telescope. The EU has been wrong, wrong, and dead wrong many times (the most famous and salient being, of course, the length of the Executor) and people with that kind of blind faith in it are fools. I wonder if they ever ask themselves how that figure of 1 trillion was arrived at? I'd bet dollars to donuts that the author just looked at a picture of Coruscant and said, "Meh, I bet a trillion would be about right."

I'm trying to get through their heads about that one. It's a helluva time just with the ISD and Mon Cal cruiser weaponry.

I believe he had a bit part in AOTC. As for the rest of SW, he does seem to have essentially quit commenting or putting up websites. IIRC he was listed in the ROTS ICS, though, so I imagine Saxton still keeps in touch at least.
