It will be demand that limits your chances of getting a Wii, not supply.

It's only relevant when there's a clear indication that one is abnormal. In the early life of the X360 there were process problems, so they couldn't manufacture enough to meet normal console launch demand.
Most console launches can expect to see some discrepancy between supply and demand, but some clearly have a wider gap than normal, and that can sometimes be pegged on one side of the equation.
