I picked it up. I felt like using the Vympel Methodology for my first character; so far it's quite fun. :)

The items and stuff so far look pretty cool. I'm hoping I can pick up an actual xyston soon (so far the best I've seen is a simple "short sword" that resembles a gladius).

Also, fighting undead hoplites is just cool. Watching them fly apart in an explosion of bones and bouncing off of cliffs is even cooler.

Bah. Way above what my box can do.

Hmmm. New job = new computer? May finally be worth it.

This is bare minimum?

In any case my 'puter can do it.

Don't bother. You NEED a legitimate serial for use. Apparently the game crashes automatically every few minutes without one.

You know he was complaining to me how it crashes?

Damn, maybe I'll shell out for it then.

Just finished the game on Normal difficulty, preparing to try it on Epic difficulty. I might take a break from it for awhile so I don't get bored. I've done the first few minor quests, and I must say that the quality of equipment certainly has increased.

I found two pieces of the Imperial Raiment set, the Imperial Armor and Greaves. I found Ramses' Coil, the bracers of the Ramses set. Also, I acquired an epic sword, Wing Chun's Tear; two epic rings, Captain's Signet and Oath Ring; and I used Frostmoon all the way to the end.

How stable is the legit copy?

But is there a HARDCORE difficulty?

Diablo clone indeed! :)

How common are Awesome level magic items? What is the ratio between Awesome Items to Bullshit Items?

How bad is the grind? What's the level cap? 1-99 (a la Diablo 2) or what?

I'm up to about 10 play hours without a crash.

Before when you said that the appearance isn't customisable, does that mean all your characters look the same? What about multiplayer? Everyone looks identical except tunic colours?

Where's stark? This sounds like the sort of thing he might bitch about.

Ok, turn audio accleration down via dxdiag and my computer goes from crashing every 5 minutes to going for over 5 hours without crashing (exiting to farm an area)

I started playing the game, i got a weird video glitch problem where the inventory would sort of white out (the grid would dissapear etc) and the text would go all blocky and unreadable.

It's a little disappointing for someone like me who loves intricate character creators, like City of Heroes's or Soul Calibur III's, but it's really not too bad once you get into it. Maybe it's just because I'm playing Hoplite Bob (well, Lysandros) at the moment, but I've hardly noticed the generic-ness of my dude through that sexy Corinthian-style helm.

So with all items stripped off, yeah they would look mostly identical. But past level 5 or so it's a bit of a non-issue.

Interestingly enough, I got that last night after having played for many hours on end (in addition to general slow ups). I don't think I was overheating, so it may have been the game just being silly.

Good to hear- I'll probably give the game another go tommorow, fresh start. I shouldn't freak out about that annoying crash of mine too much, it happened in Oblivion occasionally too, but never to the point of being game wrecking (unlike with Prey, which is unplayable).

After Epic difficulty, there is Legendary difficulty, which is supposed to be incredibly tough. There's no "hardcore" difficulty in the spirit of Diablo II, i.e. "one death and that's it", AFAIK.

There are regular, magical, rare, epic, and legendary items. According to the manual, legendary items begin to appear near the end of epic difficulty. Epic and Legendary items can be both stand-alone and set items. Rare items are usually pretty good, and they drop occasionally, and sometimes merchants have them. The Oath Ring epic item that I acquired was a quest reward. I think the game said I had killed close to 10,000 enemies by the end of the regular campaign, and the only epic items I had were the seven I mentioned, plus two that I didn't want. I remember for sure that one was in a chest, and enemies dropped a few of them. I had to clear out numerous optional dungeons and areas to find some of them. Magical items drop pretty regularly, but I found them to be so random, i.e. a magic staff when I'm a melee fighter, that I was surprised when I found one to be of use.
Stofsk wrote:How bad is the grind? What's the level cap? 1-99 (a la Diablo 2) or what?
I don't know what the level cap is, if there is one. My character was level 32 when I finished the normal campaign. It's a pretty fast-paced game. There was very little wandering about aimlessly.

So SP characters can interact online? Such as items I have can be traded to you guys SP characters?

If so I have two falcatas, one that has a 5% chance to reduce targets life 27%, the other that gives +1 to rogue skills plus other effects. Anyone interested?

My understanding is that SP and MP characters are the same. If noones online you can play SP with an MP character and drop back into MP at any time with that same character. I haven't tested this theory though.

having played it for a few hours im impressed, its not too grindy.

Im level 7 after 2 hours of play and the action is almost non-stop.

Got to Egypt. And after many hours of non-stop play I finally got my first crash - and even then, to the game's credit, although I lost some of my map info and progress, the items I just got were saved and intact, including my second Eye of Horus I lucked out on getting.

I don't think I'll be able to upgrade my helmet though - I'm a sucker for aesthetics in these games, and unless for some reason there's a Roman helmet in the game somewhere, it's harder to get any more bad ass than a Corinthian helm.

Level 6 after ~1:45 hours of play.

Went with a Nature skill mastery. Hope to do Hunting as the secondary (level 8) and end up with a Ranger.

The graphics are nice, had to turn stuff down though because it seemed to me that it was bit 'choppy' with the settings at full power. Now I'm just getting used to the interface after being so used to Diablo a few things have to be unlearned (there is no automap, there is a compass minimap in the corner I know and a bigger fullscreen map, but nothing like Diablo's unobtrusive automap that transposed itself onto the area as you moved through it - a shame, because that kind of setup feels very intuitive and a quick tab in Diablo gives you a flash of data which is awkward under TQ's method; also, I used to use the space bar to close windows in Diablo, but that doesn't work in TQ).

Post your character! Are you a straight warrior? Mage, Necromancer, rogue etc?

We need to get into a party MP thing. But should we start afresh as level 1s? Another thing: do the monsters get harder if more people are in the MP world?

Definitely. Level 1 would probably be ideal, as much as I like my hoplite I have other classes I want to experiment with and otherwise everyone would be different levels and on different quests.

The latter I have wondered myself; the manual (vaguely) states that no, the monsters don't get tougher.
