If only they'd let me carry such when I'm working...
Though fortunately, rapier and dagger has a lot in common with beer bottle and pool cue.....so it isnt too bad

Although, since weapons are force multipliers, almost ANYTHING could be a weapon. I mean, judicious applications of ashtray to nose will result in discomfort for the poor sucka being beaten down on.

Personally as far as improvised weapons go....golf umbrellas are wonderful....

Ashtray to the face is a great way of promoting a no smoking enviroment.....

I'm not too bad with a whip, but noone I've met is that good....from what I've heard though the weapon master that they had for Batman Returns is about that good. It was his personal bullwhip that catwoman used in the film.

Whips can indeed be used for limited grappling purposes, such as disarming an opponent, but you'll likely need to be at the point of the whip being an extension of yourself to do so. What whips gain in cool points, they lose in just about everything else, though. Even more so than polearms, they are only effective at max range. They can only strike at the apex of a swing, and require a lot of room to build up the required momentum. They can be easily tangled, thus leaving you unarmed. Oh, and they cause minimal damage compared to the effort to learn and use them properly. Ultimately, the whip is a weapon of intimidation at best.

I was thinking of something like a super sledge... Inside the ahndle there is a hollow with a movable weight inside. On the back swing, the weight is thrown backwards, and ends up near the bottom. When you swing forward the weight is thrown forward (toward the head) and will hopefully add extra momentum to the swing.

Is it workable? Just a thought.

The sledge idea is pratical, there is an ancient chinese sword type. I know it as a 9-ring broadsword, it is a two handed scimitar like weapon (curved with a broader tip than base. It has many piercings down the back of the blade, when the sword is swung the piercings flip....down on the back stroke and towards the tip on the strike.

This is about melee not ranged combat....a rifle butt is a rather useless melee weapon when compared to a dedicated one (though some rather cool hybrids do exist, hunting weapons which are part flintlock and part axe.)

I like the Russian ones, they have a hole in the middle of the blade that fits onto a budge on the scabbard. When combined you get a very effective wire cutter.
