A winner is you! He could also get a "normal" external optical drive instead of the ultra-slim and expensive one that matches it.

I've got to admit I have a hard to believing 11 hours of battery life, even under 'light' load.

I say get a heavy laptop and presto you have a laptop that doubles as a workout instrument. Do not fear the weight because you should get used to it eventually and that means you'll have become stronger and no longer have to worry about buying light laptops. Nice eh?

Eleven hours might be an exaggeration, but that should get 6+ without problem.

Another question is how long will you get that kind of life out of the battery. Now that my laptop has hit 3 years the battery life isn't nearly what it used to be, of course I'm gonig to try and sucker the poor guys at the school computer service center to giving me a new one :D

Thats one hell of an exaggeration, my laptop could hardly pull 3 hours when the battery was brand new. Whatever the battery life, it is pretty amazing... of course I'd love to see how many hours these things get under load because, I'll be honest, I'm almost always running under heavy load (unless I'm playing SEIV, that isn't terribly taxing).

Thanks for all the suggestions peeps. I'll keep surfing this thread to see if anybody posts anything new, but I already have what I need I decided. The price is still too steep and it's not light enough.

Although the 11 hour battery, if it's true, is orgasmic.

I honestly can't believe you're going to spend thousands of dollars on a slow as shit laptop, just because you're limpwristed. It boggles the mind.

You've got that Sony UX which me reminds me of a Barcode Battler on steroid

but In that case wouldn't a beefed up pda like a sharp Zaurus/Palm Lifedrive (with a foldable keyboard) suits your needs better?

You type/ do what you need on the go, then work on it back at home?
eg: I'm planning to change my aging Ipaq 3850 by this Zaurus the next time i go to Japan.
