If we don't know exactly wether it is laser or not, how do we want to find out what is the Tibanna gas is for?

The first part of the argument seemed ok to me.
"This isotope of hydrogen is compressed and fusion takes place in the firing chamber;"
This will release lots of energy, possibly in the form of radiation and light, which is channeled by the weapon and turned into a bolt of some sorts consisting of some unknown quanta that is degenerating at a steady pace, hence the glow(shields could affect this quanta in an unknown manner, possibly creating flakburst like effects) and when it intercepts opaque objects reverts, or degenerates back into light, or in other words a laser blast.

Than it's OK for me also...
Now I've another idea about the random appearence of the "flak" bursts.
As the crew fires on a quick moving target -for an example the Gunship in AotC chased by two fighters- the targeting computer tries to calibrate the right distance and sets the detonation so that it will take place where it "thinks" that the target will be in the next moment.
...and of course every machine can make miscalculations...there's too many possibilities in a very-very short time.
So that may prove that most of the bolts explode as flak bursts while others pass by, out of screen (these are the miscalculated ones).
Of course this only true if there's flak mode at all?!

No, there's no voluntary flakburst(and it's useless since there is no use in it, look at the explosions, thats not even GJ ranged weapons, they're supposed to be TJ ranged), look in the superlaser thread for that.

Yes I read that thread.
I'm not supporting the flak idea 100% but the thread didn't give me any totally acceptable proof on what these explosions after all?!

The threads still going on and I find the proof and explanations given to be more than satisfactory.
