Looks like Mike has implemented something like that now, but the "content" margin isn't quite as wide as the "nav" division on the left side of the page, so the content doesn't line up consistently all the way to the bottom. In my browser, it bends slightly at the "For Best Viewing:" paragraph under the "Misc" heading.

As of my most recent check, it looks like Mike has a very nice navigation sidebar set up.

Yep, the frameless design is much better.

BTW, if you're going to be updating the main site, perhaps you might want to update the pages about ST technology so that they contain information from ST:ENT. For example, in that show they added new guns in the ST universe, such as pistols ("phase pistols") and some rifles that actually make sense (compared to the TNG phasers and rifles), as well as flash grenades. (What happened to them in the following centuries is still a mystery to me).

Well, if nothing else, at least people can link directly to pages without difficulty now. But in general, it seems that frames are not really the way to go, hence the change. Printing and linking are much simpler on a no-frames site, and the rest of the Internet has been definitely moving away from the use of frames in the 8 years since the site has gone up (can you believe it's been 8 fucking years?)

Guess what. You've got something -- however insignificant -- to put in the "What's New" page. Of course, notifying non-board folks about the new arguments database wouldn't hurt, either...

Umm... what happened to "Conquest". I just noticed it's no longer linked from the "Fan Fiction" page.

Weird. When I originally clicked the Fan Fiction button, I only saw the linke to "Reign of Terror".

When I followed your link, I got a page with links to the Fanfic forum, Conquest, and Reign.

I clicked the button again... nothing by Reign of Terror.

Then I refreshed and it was all there.

Stupid caching.

Yeah, web caching can produce really strange results. When I first altered the layout, I went to the page and actually said out loud "What the FUCK is that?" Then I hit F5 and it was OK.

Since you're tinkering with the site, how long is the current poll going to be open for? It's been ages since we've had a new one. :)

I'm Wyrm, and I approve the site layout! :thumbsup!:

And it works on the other pages. Coolness!

It's good to get that layout business sorted out. All the pages are W3C-compliant now too, although it's to an older standard (sorry, I'm not revamping every page on the site in order to bring it up to a newer standard).

I think you can still get TidyGUI for free, and it automatically brings things up to XHTML 1.0, or something like that, I believe.
