SPOILERS:
Apparently, the Dathomir Witch Silri (one of Zann's henchmen) uses the Sith Artifact (holocron) Zann stole from Jabba years before. It summons what appears to be a Star Map. She then travels to a specific world, and encounters what I guess is Darth Revan's final resting place, complete with thousands of Sith Troopers frozen in carbonite Terracotta Army style.
At least that's what the pictures show. Have no idea of the larger context.

Well I guess That seals the deal for me, I don't ever plan on Purchasing FoC if that is going to be in it.

That even makes less sense than Revan, because considering how long Thrawn, who both knew the Emperor and had access to all the Empire's records and resources (except for the core) spent searching for one, it is utterly stupid to assume a crime lord will find it. Oh, and it also requires Palpatine to use the same locations as siths did millenia ago.
More stupidity.

You got me. I've neither seen the game nor the images of the end cutscene.

Zorrixor wrote:There's nothing that says that [Revan is involved]... maybe they look a bit like Sith troopers, I dunno, it was a very brief shot. There's nothing about Revan though, so that's pure fan speculation. It was in an old cave, reminded me of Wayland, with some Sith looking statues, but I just put that down to Palpatine's taste in architecture.
It's possible though, as the Sith holocron was ancient, so not specifically Palpatine's, but, I dunno. They didn't go into it much, the Sith holocron was almost a side plot that didn't get fully explored. It was just something you picked up at the beginning, then it got stolen by the Empire, then you stole it back. Then finally Silri finds this lost storehouse at the very end. Roll credits.
Admittedly, when the camera first panned into the cave I did get a "Disciples of Ragnos"-type feeling.
Hmm, ... maybe Zann and his consortium were secretly funded by Palpatine to get the underworld under control, build up a fifth colonne and get a new rival for Darth Vader after Xizor bite the dust.
I wonder, if the continuity-people will have that idea.

Eclipse-related SPOILERS:
Ok, it seems as if Eclipse is the Eclipse, not a third ship after all.
In the story campaign it can only be used by Zann when he attempts to capture it at Kuat, following the Battle of Endor, and can bring down an Executor-class SDN called Annihilator which attempts to stop the theft.
Also, it can only fire on enemy reinforcements a few times before breaking down (since it's apparently not finished).
It can be fixed, but the battle is usually over by then and Zann decides to abandon/scrap it. Guess he finally realised it's more of a hazzle than it's worth.

Isn't it much more simple to declare the game Out Of Continuity?I wonder, if the continuity-people will have that idea.

But then we had to do without the Annihilator and a number of other toys. Not to forget, that the existance of something like the Zann-Consortium would underline the Empire's need for lots of big warships. It supports the maximalists POV, because something like the GFFA-equivalent of the mafia would be able to put something of the size of a sector-fleet together.

Most of the cool stuff already exists and we know it is canon, the Empire's shipbuilding capabilities, etc. come straight off the movies (come on, they built a god damn Death Star) and other canon sources, and the most damning of all - the ZC is a lame rip-off of Black Sun, which existed already and for entire eras, I may say, precisely as the Galactic Mafia.

I've gotten a slight soft spot for the Consortium, fanwankish as the concept might be. At least something like that helps put more perspective on the industrial capacity of third parties in the SW galaxy.
Only thing I don't get is how Zann got hold of all those shipyards needed to build the Aggressor-, Vengeance-, Crusader-, Kedalbe-class capital ships. I know he nagged the Mandalorians for those last two, but the rest's gotta come from somewhere. As well as those shuttles and landing craft with his initials on.

Well, maybe some extremely ludicrous subvesion went along, and Zann secretly secured support from Kuat, and some sections of the Corporate Sector Authority?
Finally, I'm amused that the idea of an Imperial agency for only dealing with organized crime came to me even before I had heard of this expansion.
Yeah, I'd say it'd be better if they just used preexisting characters and had several shadowy members renounce the Empire, rally around a crimelord figurehead like Xizor, and build up in Hutt space. But I guess that takes the fun out of creating an entirely new and never before heard of faction.Stas Bush wrote:...the most damning of all - the ZC is a lame rip-off of Black Sun, which existed already and for entire eras, I may say, precisely as the Galactic Mafia.

I already suggested, that Palpatine himself could be behind Zann and his rise to power, but what do you think of that idea?
It usually goes this way:
Minimalist: "Why would the Empire need all those ships seen in DarkEmpire and that by the thousands? Nobody else has ships, that can even challenge an ISD." (of course the minimalist is ignoring the example given by the MonCalamari, but a minimalist also believes, that HomeOne is a 1,200 meter long MC80).
Maximalist: "Hmmmm. Shit, he has a point there.
(Enter the Zann-Consortium).
Wait, there is this group from Forces of Corruption. And now that I think about it, doesn't KDY have his own defense-fleet in BHW? The House of Tagge its own battlecruisers in Marvel?"
We need every piece we can get, that puts a nail in the coffin of the GFFA as it is envisioned by the likes of ThrawnMcEwok, EnderSai and Charlemange19 and if we have to twist a continuity, that wasn't so good to begin with, WHY not?
According to HoT only a small part of the Empire's armed forces ever fought the rebellion. It is time to see, what the rest was busy with.

Yeah, but... isn't the minimalist full of shit? There was an all-out galactic war just years ago. And Mon Cals? They have these huge HO-class ships with shitloads of fighters, and the Empire doesnt' need star dreadnaughts? How about external threats - those pesky militant civilizations looming in the Unknown Regions and the Outer Rim?Minimalist: "Why would the Empire need all those ships seen in DarkEmpire and that by the thousands?
