There isn't enough seen of the Kelvin doing it, but when the Enterprise warps in and saves the squidship, it was not perfect accuracy by any means. They were spamming phaser bolts out, scores of them per hit.

How is this relevant to anything? Where was this withering barrage of defensive fire when Enterprise was hit in battle earlier?

Are you mental? In a debate about the accuracy of point-defense turrets, you don't think a comment on the accuracy of point-defense turrets is relevant?

What? Is your answer to 'why can't people shoot down incoming fire when they casually shoot down fire directed at others' to say 'they shoot really, really fast'? LOL!

Even heavily damaged, Kelvin apparently protected the fleeing shuttles perfectly (I don't believe any shuttles were lost), but couldn't protect itself from the early fire pre-evacuation. This seems to suggest taht their response time is poor (ie they need plenty of flight time to engage projectiles, which means their PD sucks).

It's arguable that this appearance is simply due to coincidence; Kelvin went nuts with PD to cover the shuttles and basically sacrificed itself (lol borg-enhanced futureship can't blow up Kelvin) and Enterprise seemed to deliberately take their first hit on the shields (big mistake).

You know, it's really interesting how when Stark rephrases things, they somehow mean the opposite of the original meaning.

My point was not that they shoot the barrage down with casual ease because "lol they shoot really fast" but that they did not shoot down the barrage with casual ease in the first place.

Yeah, they did. The projectiles were slow as hell and they shot them all down. Ships seem unable to shoot down far smaller barrages when they're directed at themselves. I'm sorry using the word 'casual' to describe 'wipes out largest missile swarm ever seen launched by future-ship in a few seconds' bothers you.

Kelvin could have been caught by surprise by the MIRVing and then too damaged to cover itself and the shuttles and Enterprise could have simply been overconfident, but that doesn't change the way it looks. Whining about how much they miss when they shoot down around 30 projectiles in a few seconds when they can't protect themselves from one, two or three at a time is asinine in the extreme.
