Thanks a lot EA, there goes your chances of me treating Origin as anything except "oh hey, something that pops up when BF3 launches."

Origin is annoying and I wish it didn't exist. I understand their desire to compete with Steam and keep more money in their pockets, but they are doing it poorly. They are competing using market share and IP's, not the quality of their product. I'll not so far as to say I won't buy EA products (after all, I still plan on playing SWTOR), but it certainly makes me think twice. I certainly won't be making Mass Effect 3 an automatic purchase; instead I'll wait for positive feedback or a hugely discounted sale.

As for BF3, has anyone else unlocked the F2000 and just found it to be a laser gun? Huge ROF and very accurate. LMG's also seem too easy to lug around and bring to bear on targets, but compared to the mortar spam that half the servers have, that's a minor issue. I sometimes bring out my mortar (personally prefer C4) just to do some counterbattery.

Wait, people are actually saying they're surprised that Origin is broken and EA's use policies are infantile and poorly thought out?

Oh wait, this is *exactly* what everyone was complaining about when Steam launched.

Just so you guys know, getting banned from their forums and finding that your games and dlc stopped working was going on way before Origin game out. Not a pc gamer so haven't used Origin at all except to sign up for Battlelog, but there you go.

To Broken yes the f2000 is an amazing gun. It was that in BC2 but at least in that game it's ROF was higher for lower accuracy. In BF3 it's accurate as heck and has the highest ROF. I still prefer the 416 but the f2000 is my second gun of choice as assault. However the current flavor is the US-12 with Slugs or frag rounds which due to supression effects means you can take out four people in one clip without doing much in the way of aming. On some maps (Streets is a prime example but Metro's just as bad) you can destroy opposition chokepoints by just running in there firing vaguely in the direction of the enemy as even clean misses do 5-10% damage and a direct hit is 60%.

The F2000 is great, but I like to use burst fire weapons, I just find them more fitting to my playstyle for the assault class, so I use the KH-2002, which has the same ROF and damage but always fires in 3 round burst. (which you basically do anyway with assault rifles by tapping the trigger to keep the accuracy up)

Did Steam ever have anything as stupid as permanently banning someone from their games because someone else swore at him on the forum ?

You wish you were this awesome

1. Awesome
2. Colorblind mode gives you this nice icon set the guy in the video is sporting which I never knew about and instantly turned on, it's highly useful in video options.

No. They just let someone hack into their database and steal all your credit card information.

No, they just had someone hack their forums and then announced that the portion of infrastructure hacked also contained some encrypted user payment information but were unaware if that had been taken, but hey, keep an eye on your transactions.

Giving it's been a month since that last announcement and no controversy, I'm guessing a) hackers didn't take it or b) Valve actually secured it properly.

Karkand DLC is great fun, but it won't recreate the BF 2 experience until it takes 17 hours to load a map.

I'm disappointed that Karkand is so small. It feels like half of the original map is missing. And with no commander assets, the back flags have relatively little strategic meaning anymore (taking away enemy armor is a small bonus but not much). It's also really easy to snipe people, thanks to the closeness of the flags and the lack of brown haze. I do think Sharqi and Oman are on par or a little better than the original maps. Oman seems to have the right balance between infantry and vehicles and Sharqi strikes me as a better CQC map than Karkand. Also, more building destruction is nice.

I did a ton of interior props on Back to Karkand. Make sure you have fun blowing them up :P

I might not be too savy in this regard Julhelm but are you part of the development team or something?

Yeah I worked at DICE as a prop artist on BF3. Check for "Nils Dücker" in the credits.

That's impressive and you did a good job, I was wandering though some of the new houses in the game in the other day and noticed how much more "lived in" they looked over the vanilla and even BC2 structures.

Thanks! I put up a bunch of screengrabs of the stuff I did over at my site. The game industry being what it is I'm currently looking for new work :(

Looks like you did the shopfronts along the main street to the beach at Sharq Peninsula. Which I was getting good use of the other night for murderations.

I'm sure the shape of the jugs deeply affected how well the constant chopper strafing killed anyone dumb enough to get in there.

Its pretty ballsy for DICE to nerf the sams when they were near-useless before and its now trivial for choppers to be immune to them.

Real life choppers use cover and concealment to avoid getting shot down. This is too hard for your average BF player to grasp though, so he'll just whine on the forums until DICE gives him what he wants.

Panicked players holding down the collective = panicked players end up really high, where choppers should be doomed = sams nerfed = choppers really high can basically destroy anything anywhere all day long barring jets.

Great stuff, really. The best is when you park somewhere you can instantly destroy the other team's jets when they spawn in between killing everyone on the ground over and over.

Jets were doing a good job keeping choppers from being kill-machines.

Engineers were killing armour before it came into range so it was pretty much infantry only...

I'm honestly not that mad though because i've learned the likelihood of your team winning the map is directly proportional to the number of people you don't have in the air.

Saved by shit design.

The stupidly high levels of verticality in the new maps sure leads to whole teams of snipers camped out in one place doing literally nothing. I've got MVP with 1 kill, because people literally don't understand how to play.

I've wiped out whole squads of snipers with one well placed mortar. I think it's hilarious too because most of these people are clinically retarded and don't realize that their scope = big bright spot I can see for MILES.

All of the sniper rifles have iron sights and red dots now so there's no excuse to be a T-junction camper anymore.
