You move into the cave, and your eyes adjust. There is no one there.

As you are working your way through a crowd you manage to catch the eyes of someone obviously trying to shadow you without your notice. The man pulls up the cowl of his cloak and tries to disappear among the crowd.

[Scary!]

"How I love the supposed civilized lands." Grunted the warrior, seeking out a place to stay. He was sure there would be something to pull him into the swing of action soon, but Fate could stand to wait while he got a drink.

As you sample the ale of a local tavern, you again note people either paying you no heed or paying far too much attention to you. This time, however, those doing the latter are making no secret of it. A wiry old human in dark cloak and armor makes his way to your table. He seats himself and states, "I am Ian. You are Nitram. Ian has information. And he'd be willing to bet that Nitram wants information."

You stay there for some time, but nothing eventful has happened. Whoever walked in here has apparantly disappeared.

I slowly sneak back out of the cave.

The goblins have been unusually active as of late, and have recently attacked a few... key interests of ours. We need any goblins that may have survived the raid to be removed. Trace the goblins to their source, and eliminate the leader."

Edward tosses you a sack. "Your advance payment. You'll see plenty more if you do well." He then hands you a map marking the supposed location of the goblin raid.
"Fear not my good man." answers Grozny, sifting through the bag of gold. "Your problems shall soon be nothing more than a long bloddy smear on the earth you walk upon. You shall soon be seeing parts of their leader again." Opening the map, Grozny6 quickly examines the details of the surrounding area of the goblin raid, his axe hand having to stop itself reaching for his blade at that very moment.

Just as you start heading back out, you hear at least two voices coming from behind you, somewhat muffled.

The map marks a cabin, not far from where you are. Word must have gotten out quickly; the goblins had only struck the day before.

Hide check: 12+6 = 18
Listen check: 20+0 = 20

You can hear them getting closer, but they are speaking a language you've never heard before. They sound as if they're coming towards you from below...

The bedroll is carefully slid aside as two men extracate themselves from a hidden ladder well, continuing to talk. As one of them is replacing the bedroll, he glances up, and sees you. The man shouts something and both draw clubs...

Init:
Them... 1.
You: 7

To-hit with crossbow on the nearest thug = 11 + 4 = 15

Assuming that hits, damage is *roll* Oooh, max damage. 8. He's gonna feel that in the morning.

One goes down hard, and the other closes.

[4+1=5, miss]

He swings and bashes the rock behind you.

I drop the crossbow and draw my short sword, ready to finish this guy off.

He's my designated dodge target, raising my AC against him to 17.

Sword in hand, I grunt softly as I sink the steel blade deep into my enemy's flesh (16+0 = 16; damage 5+0 = 5).

I see a rat in the cabin, and take this opportunity to feed my European Adder familiar. I take Hesphirath, and I release him near the rat. He hones in on it, strikes and holds, pumping cytotoxic venom into the rat... It dies in moments and he begins the swallowing process.

300 XP; two clubs, miscellaneous minor equipment. 6 GP. [I should've gone to bed too but Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory has confiscated designated sleep periods.]

[You guys are free to head out whenever you're ready... there's little I can do at the moment. Unless you want some mystical DM-power to magically compel your characters to leave or something.]

I sigh, check my bags, and stand up. "Shall we be on our way before more goblins arrive?"

Rapidly, I hurry over to the area surrounding the cabin, but stop when I spot it about 300m off into the distance. Taking time to perform a look over check of the surrounding area, looking out for any remenant goblins. Meanwhile I draw my axe, ready for any surprises that may arise.

Look: 14+2=16
