Raistlin was dangerous in and of himself, not due to his political potency. The same can not be said of Spyder.

But you cant buy him off, main character, under Spyders direct control
That depends on Spyder now doesn't it?

Spyder, for your information, no one knows what Blackeyes are, or have heard the term uttered, with the exception of some high-ranking Ousters and the Vampire lord Basil the Red-Handed. You'd know them as reps of EdgeWorks Inc., a BIC puppet corporation. Their conection to the Hajr would be quite invisible.

Never mind that three Blackeyes would probably be able to wipe the floor with a dozen minmatar guardsmen....

In a straight fight I would agree with you Thridfain. But in an ambush? Against ye old blizzard of lead? They are mortal after all.

And yes he's right despite serveal attempts no has managed to penerate and discover the Blackeyes.

Good point about the ambush. They might have noticed it telepathically if anyone in the room knew it was coming, but they'd still prolly lose, though they would inflict nasty casualties.

Complete curveball... as for folks 'playing out' their various powers, I would suggest that something be done akin to ASVS STGOD: before launching the new power, the old power can 'conveniently' disintegrate, change hands, be conquered by new power, etc. This could be lead to multiple posts, as various powers react to the collapse. It could get complex, as in this (actual example from ASVS STGOD mk II):

I controlled the Mulciber League, a medium-size human power semi-important in galactic politics. I wanted to clear it out to let the Meran'an, a slightly more alien power, become my main control. So, I had a group of Mulciber-based Sauron-worshipping terrorists, the Cult of Ahriman*, instigate a coup and take over, forming the 'Dark Empire'. At the behest of the former Mulciberites in the last remaining world (Gallica), the Freeborn Systems League (Matt Huang's power, which was one of Mulciber's chief allies) absorbed them and attacked the Dark Empire, conquering it and integrating it into the new 'Star League'. The coast was clear for the Meran'an. This took place over several posts in a period of a few weeks. I still control my characters (including DanielSBen) from Mulciber, but he was in deep space anyways.

In a much simpler example, Weedmadando blew Australiana to smithereens in a single post to clear the way for his new power.

So, is this sane or crazy?

*Ahriman - the evil power or devil of Zoroastrian mythology, also Angra Mainyu. In this situation, Ahriman is the name the cult has given Sauron.

and the vamps... Guys.. they are vampires, come on now... No sane nation would allow vampires anywhere near their population.
It has been established that the Vampires don't consider us poor Gladsheims really living or worthy of consumption in the prelude to this STGOD on the diplomatic station. So I think I'm safe

Not good slaves we make.
Pull one switch, and we drop like puppets without strings :D

I've been unable to determine something. How much time has passed since, say, the Ravenlock Trade Fair? A month? Two months? A week?

being that the "switch" is nothing physical, I doubt it :D
They'd have to completely conquer me. And before that happens, I blow everything up. Paranoid and all that...

Yeah, Gladsheim is on my "Too Be Clensed Via Week-Long Hyperkinetic Bombardment" list.

Uh, Im inclined to dislike this idea. Espcecially considering the emphasis that is placed on industrialized worlds. While it might be convenient for one nation to drop off the face of the world, it gives someone else free access to those worlds. Of course, people can do whatever they want... Tycho did a similar thing by turning over all his Rh'illoran ships to the Moacorans. But I tend to dislike things that radically switch the game balance with no warning.

Actually, in all seriousness, that's an option as well.

Yeah, but aren't those radical switches in balance the spice of diplomacy? This isn't 1900, you know, with careful balances of power and such. We're supposed to do whatever the hell we like, within limits of course.

I'll let you in on a secret: while the Center-led coalition that's running the Union is staunchly pro-Alliance and is willing to be a good ally, there is an opposition. If a war (say, the inevitable Alliance-Hajr one) goes real badly, you could see a shift in coalitions, or electoral defeat, leading to the Union dropping out of the war and the alliance. Hey, the Union is a sort-of-parlimentary democracy, and the mysterious Aquatic Front could switch sides any moment...

Another secret: if and when the Union disappears or leaves galactic politics (isolationism, or perhaps better termed as 'cold storage'), the power in the wings will be one or more of the following (of course, i could just use 'em for ASVS STGOD with less trouble):
1. A space-based power (like Floaters or Ousters)
2. An evil or hyperopportunistic power
3. A power patterned off of Imperial Germany or Napoleonic France

By the way guys, I was wondering (and with Spyder back this seems like the best time to ask) if it would be objectionable to gather us old timey STGOD I guys and write a sort of history of the Genocide wars, with each author taking a particular part of the war and writing it from the view point of his nation.

I.E. I would write from Monacoran point of view, and would probably cover our 'Betrayl,' Darksider would write covering the KSE and would cover the burning of his planet, Stormbringer about Asgard, Thirdfain about the floaters, etc. etc. etc.

Thoughts?

Id' be all up in that. Hmm, as I recall, we left the United Republican Navy organized to strike against the Asgard from their base at Mohaim...
