I told Siege to do what he did OOC, and since everybody seemed to have gotten upset about it - I wanted an IC reason to step in on Siege's behalf, should things get too hot for him. I should have just blown up that damned island myself, perhaps then there would have been less bitching about it.
See, I was thinking, "You know, having it be real intel doesn't work out so well. But instead of just picking a fight, how could it be explained?" That's about the way I was thinking of doing it, actually, although I had a different method in mind.

It would be the genesis of Indhopal asking the NFT if they knew anything about it. At that point, the NFT would figure, "Well shit, the cat's out of the bag," and need to come up with something; if Indhopal knew, it's quite likely others would as well. So they thought about it, and hit upon an idea: the UCSR can be pretty damn hardline, and doesn't like Japanistan. So ask them. And therein became the beginnings of the intelligence thing. It would work to handle any questions posed by allies (sort of; yeah we knew about it and we had 'em do it and oh by the way, pirates!) although not telling everyone else may or may not have been a problem (I suppose it's up to PeZook whether he would've felt slighted by it or not). And if anyone outside comes forward, it has the backing of the UCSR and they'd go, "So what're you gonna do about it?" or something along those lines. The last fits in with Shady's 'alliance of power' speech to King Paul, at least.

Rough-ish idea, but you see the general purpose. And why not clear it up? Better that than thinking the UCSR has some ninja spies at Kempetai HQ or something.
An Interesting idea, but too late for that now. What is done, is done. The whole mess is behind us now and unless Japanistan starts something than it's over.

I don't need ninja, I have NOD and PCIA - they are far superior.
EDIT: And even if you had there'd still be bitching. Blowing up Japanistani outposts on flimsy intelligence at best gets a good deal of concern from the Shinra Republic, no matter who pulled the trigger. For the long-ago mentioned 'yes I worry they'll do something crazy' reasons. :D
Doing crazy shit is half the fun in this game. :P And besides Japanistan needed a reminder, their actions will have consequences - consequences which they may not like.

Yeah, then IIRC one of you MESS guys tattle-tailed and told the Japanistanis that it was the NFT/CATO who blew up their base. :P

Because "wideband stealth" is bullshit. RCS-reducing shape is one thing; it cannot, ALONE, level the RCS down to nigh zero without special coating, and specialized coating only works for higher bands (and even if it was specificall designed to work for a particular low band, making the plane heavy and a nightmare to service, it would then fail against other bands, meaning it could not defeat any multi-band radar complex like most of our OTH and long-range radars are).
RogueIce wrote:Except the B-4 hasn't entered service yet! So how can he be countering it?
I just ran a counterstealth test. Just to show that we're working on CS devices. I did it against our own stealthy machines.

Moreover, the LIDAR idea wasn't even mine. It was Fingolfins, and it arose from an inter-CATO discussion about future counterstealth measures, which ran prior to us even noticing that "B-4" planOdoom in your Wiki.
RogueIce wrote:I'd be surprised if he wasn't thinking about the B-4 when he made that post.
I was thinking about how much bullshit this "wideband stealth" thing is.

So, that's that. Shroom's drowned.

As for me, I'll be gone for two weeks, starting tomorrow. I am coming back on August 13th.

Through that time, should you need anything from PeZookia, go to Siege, he's been appointed official caretaker of the country.

Shroom! [Vader] NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! [/Vader]

Ow, man... That's grim and gruesome. You could at least settle for a peaceful retirement. But then, you're right. Politicians don't always find peace.

So wait, Shep's Bio Chemical Ali Baba lives (and governs some shithole under Lonestar's patronage) but Shroom dies? NO JUSTICE doesn't even begin to say it...

Shroom was the best and most benevolent leader... :(

That does leave PeZook for the diplomacy guy. I don't feel very diplomatic these days.

At least we'll have one great funeral. Despite fears of biochemical attack, millions of Shroomanians will take to the streets for the funeral procession.

The Shroomanian Ways of Peace, Freedom and the Pursuit of Happiness will not be curtailed by any cowardly attack - and that the ideals that Prime Minister Shroom strove for will forever be cherished, and not forgotten or cast aside by the whims of a terrorist.

Hopefully the leaders of the world can come and gather for the last hurrah. A final parting of the ways. :(

I do intend to have my avatar attend any such gathering and to be given the chance to speechify.

We shall all miss our good, eccentric friend PM Shroom.

Also, the Latin Patriarch is retiring due to "health issues".

We can do a frankenstein resurrection and use SPACE VAMPIRE VIRUS that LOINSTAR has secretly built up to BRING SHROOM BACK! TWICE AS SHROOMY! TWICE AS ALLITERATING!

We can make him BETTER. STRONGER FASTER. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE HAVE THE MONEY. WE HAVE THE MASSIVE CONTRACTOR COST OVERRUNS.
