I like the light one. Very Greek. And what's wrong with skirts? Skirts rule.

When I was testing one of the dangerous 'no levelling NPCs' mods, I went into Imperial Centres sewers. I met an uber 'goblin warlord' who followed me up to the market and killed half a dozen Imperial Guardsmen. Instant equipment, and I could sell the rest.

One thing- why does the Arena Raiment look so damn lame? It looks like a damn skirt. I'm just gonna sell it, it looks so bad, to hell with the bonuses.
You're only supposed to wear it in the Arena.

I meant the Raiment of Valor specifically, which you get after you win the Arena. Besides fighitng animals every week, of course.

Well, you still get a choice between light and heavy.

Great, now Bethesda is starting micropayment mods.
Fuck Microsoft. I hated this shit when they did it with Mechwarrior 4. I hate it more now.

When I heard about their $2 mods, I honestly couldn't believe it. Are they insane? Wankers.

Part of me wants to accept it. Mods do take time and effort on the part of the modders. Gaming community mods are notorius for never reaching completion because of a multitude of factors. Start putting a price tag on the mod, and you would, in theory, be much more likely to see more complete mods.
Still, for small things that were likely going to be in the final game but held back for later release and crazy profits? That's just lame-ass shit.

On the subject of the first 3 $2 mods...
Does that mean that the Orrery in the mages guild doesn't acutally exist yet? What is it anyway?
Horse armor is cool; but I'd only pay if you could fight while on the horse.
A wizard's tower; finally. But I'm not going to pay *real* money for one... geeze.

An orrery is a mechanical model of a solar system.
The laughable part is they don't seem to expect people to just unpack it and repack it and distribute it for free. I wonder if they'll charge for the 'fix the stupid levelling' thing too? Wankers.

What's so sad about the pay-per-mod scheme is that so many are going to say "it's only $2, might as well get it" and think nothing else of it. Not realizing that they paid 1/25 the price of the total game for maybe 1/500 as much content. Two dollars doesn't seem like much, but considering it proportionally (and knowing that they're going to keep dribbling these out until people end up burning more money on the game than they would on an MMO) it's pretty disgusting.

Yeah, it's worse when I realise they mean US$2, which is 1/30 of the ticket price of the whole game. For what? A reskinned horse? Sorry, Bethseda loses.
In other news, I just paid US$14 for Mount and Blade, and I've already played it longer than I played Oblivion. I have a character in the Norman mod who can singlehandedly kill a dozen bandits at the same time, due to l337 skills, a horse, and excellent equipment - this could never, ever happen in Oblivion. Indie Turk developers for the win.

I'm really rooting for this thing to fail. It could set a very dangerous precedent if it doesn't.

Too late. This thing has worked in the past, and it will continue to work in the future. Splinter Cell, Battlefield 2, Mechwarrior 4, and so on.

Wow, I must be out of the loop. I'd never heard of this sort of thing before, but it turns out it's reasonably prolific.

I read on Beth's forums that they showed the horse armor skins months before the game released, which leave me to thik only one thing...
They must have had the bright idea to withhold content and sell it later. Meaning that the game as sold was actually incomplete(!)
Bullshit. I'm rapidly growing tired of Bethesda...I had a LOT of respect for them, especially considering they had avoided thus far being gobbled up by EA. Now...not so much.
They shou8ld have included a warning on the game:
This game 70% complete! Buy the rest in 0.001% chunks for 2.00USD per chunk! And what does Beth say about this? *Puts fingers in ears* LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!

Uh..what are you on? Its just a skin, if its actual feature I have no doubt someone else can quickly replace it. Anyway, unless they also make the
Patchs a cash affair, how is anything unusual? It's fitting in with the Xbox360 marketplace. For all I know they could have said "Fuck the PC crowd, we're making this Xbox360 only" and lock us out entirely. Give us 3 days and someone has it cracked if you REALLY need that armour.

I'd like an armored horse only if I could equip a spear, matching heavy armor, and charge around like a cataphract. Hell, I'd use a mace and be a clibinarii.

This is exactly what I was talking about before, people blaming the console version for everything they don't like. Pray tell, what does shipping a game without certain content and then charging for it have to do with the X360 port?

I'm not exactly blaming it on the port, I'm saying it could have influenced the decision. Also, who knows, maybe it wasn't finshed in time for the release, it was finshed now, and I suppose they didn't want to piss off console fans by charging money on Xbox and free for PC.

I'm honestly apathetic about wether they charge money or not.

MS wanted them to have paid content downloadable from Xbox Live that they could get a cut from. With that, they'd have to charge the same for the PC version to be fair.

Back to the game per se, I can't believe the amount of locations there are in Cyrodil. It seems like there are a lot more than in Morrowind, though Morrowind had shitloads as well. Whenever the mood takes me, I ride instead of quicktravel between towns, either along the road or through Wilderness, there are heaps of Oblivion gates, caves, ruined forts (an unrealistically high amount, if you ask me, given the size of Cyrodil), Aeydil ... places, whatever they're called, etc.
I generally don't explore them, but like to have the game register them as "found" so when I feel like it, I'll clear them all out.
