Space Marines and Eldar have the weakest AI. The Eldar AI will send out squads unsupported, while the Space Marine AI will almost totally ignore heavy weapons upgrades for tac-squads. It's been my experience that they also tend to avoid some rather important upgrades, such as Fleet of Foot or Call of War, in favor of tech-tree upgrades and relatively useless upgrades like Plasma Grenades.

The campaign AI must be far weaker on Standard, because that's the level I'm playing at currently and I've wiped out the Space Marines, Necrons and Chaos with none of the other factions making any effort to advance to their rivals' strongholds.

Still, I'm really enjoying these heavier territories with multiple enemy bases; I always thought DoW campaigns were missing large battles and with an honour guard these can happen more-or-less right away.

The Ork seems semi decent, or I just suck at fighting them, cause on Normal I steamrolled Chaos, Necrons, and IG, but was accually turned back once by Orks, and had to struggle to take a small provence. (Being beset by two Warchiefs, two Big Meks, and about 9 Wartrukk and atleast 12 stormboyz squads.

I go up against the IG and they have maybe a chimera, I go against Orks and they have half a dozen Wartrukks, Killakans, and wartraks plus full infantry.

Rogue 9, I have a question. Do you remember back when we did a 1v1 and I played Necrons and you played IG?

I teleported my Lord into your guardsmen formation and pulled off a nightmare shroud. That's the one that insta-broke all of your guys' morale.

Then they started running. Was that you or did that automatically happen?

That was me. What, you think I'm damned fool enough to leave them in melee with a Lord while they're broken? :P

Perhaps I am a bit biased in this regard, but I rather like the way the Necrons were implemented in Dark Crusade and certainly hope that Relic doesn't smack them with the nerf stick in a future patch. Of course, since I've seen a rather large number of posts complaining about the "overpowered" Necrons on the Relic forums, I'm not inclined to be too optimistic about their chances... :(

Pfft, overpowered? They're easily eliminated if you know what you're doing. Difficult, yes; overpowered? no. I was able to defeat them with fucking Guard, ffs... :P

the Nercons aren't that hard to beat if you know what you're doing (and they don't got restored Monolith up (that thing is really hard/impossible to beat if used correctly)), sure if you're idea of tactic is spam as much men into meatgrinder as you can and you're not playing Orks they'll eat you for a light afternoon snack (or the C'tan will eat you men actually)

The most annoying part of Necrons I find is their ability to respawn Tomb Spiders and their Lord in your base. Hence my tendancy as Eldar to leave cloaked Webway Gates around the map that I can jump back through if need be. Oh and Plasma Grenades are great, but Fleet of Foot is much more important.

Against Necrons, Fleet of Foot >>>> Plasma Grenades.

Don't get me wrong, Plasma Grenades are useful against Tau & Guard, but it's just retarded against MEQs.

That's the only part of the Necrons that I'd like to see toned down somehow. It's really annoying to be in the middle of an assault and then have to move some of your troops away from the front because at the beginning of the game your opponent sent his Lord to die in your base so when he comes back he can drop flayed ones everywhere.

The simplest way I can think of to do that is to make the Necron Lord's re-spawn time directly proportional to how far he is from the Monolith doing the re-spawning. That way there's an incentive to not have him die across the map.

It's Flayed Ones that need their building damage toned down. Then they wouldn't be that big of a threat if they get spammed into your base after the Necron revives their lord.

Some neat things you can do is lay mines or snare traps if you're Tau on the Lord and around, so that life becomes miserable the moment he comes back to life. :)

I hate two base defend missions especially when the second base takes over half of my production faculties from when I originally conquered the terrirtory and NONE of my reinforcements are counted in the defense of said provice....

really annoying when it's two necrons and I now have two NLs playing dueling solarpulse resorbs inside my base...
