Gotta powder out myself. That was a cool-ass scene, indeed.

For the record, Adivan is aboard the Divine Retribution (as you may have gathered from my post ;)) and has been passing my non-posting time by establishing a network of informants in the fleet to reduce the likelihood of unpleasant surprises (like, say, another mutiny...).

He is? Retconning away, I see. :)

Well, you're both going to have to edit your posts. We haven't left yet, the captain of the Divine Retribution is Shanan, and I'm running the space battle. I know evil secrets about what's suppossed to be there thanks to our beloved C'tan leader. No jumping the gun. :D

BTW any idea on what the arms on the Crone would be?

yes, I know it's a "Hospital Ship" but this is 40k, and it's run by witchhunters....

Some dorsal weapon batteries covering foreward/port/starboard is typical of a well armed civilian ship 2km long or smaller. There are stats for several different armed civilian designs in the BFG PDFs and that's basically what they pack. As much firepower as an Iconoclast class raider.

And so you comprehend my urgency about your need to purchase them.

You oversold them Petro. They're good, but not as good as I was expecting.

Ah. Well, YMMV. For the Emperor is pretty much my favorite 40K novel.

Thanks. I like it when people give me stuff I can dig up for profound quotes later. I would've done a better Gix one, but he hasn't had the heart to hearts with Prius that come from waking up in the same infirmary or undergoing brutal interrogations brings on.

I do shudder to think of him with his finger on the exterminatus button, though. Being a nukasexual and all.

Which is why Gix hasn't had any heart to hearts with Prius and isn't trying to make him an inquisitor. Gix knows the difference between an Alois Hammer and a Joachim Steuben.

Have you read Ravenor? The parallel in 40K would be an Eisenhorn or Ravenor vs. a Patience Kys.

Can't find the damn thing for some reason. I'm going to have to hunt it down soon (my usual source of 40K is close to my route from home to work.)

If your funding is still limited, it might be worth waiting for the paperback on. It's a good read, but not great.

The equation hardcover=3-4 paperbacks is always in my brain when I consider buying one. So I usually put it off.

Also paperbacks fit nicely into pockets.

I hear that. Do you ever get to cruise the used bookstores down in the Seattle area? During the brief while I lived there, it was like Mecca to me... fifty cent hardovers and the like. Beautiful stuff. Given my general poverty at the time, it was one of the rare occasions in my youth where I could actually acquire more books than I could conceivably read in a week.

Mind you, it's been fifteen years, so I'm sure the prices have risen a bit.

No, I haven't but there are a couple of used bookstores in my area.

Don't think anybody's show up tonight. Shall we set the opening stages for the naval battle so they can properly pee their pants?
