Leo 1's going to be great. It's basically an American Medium, having no armor, but high speed, maneuverability and a great (and fast aiming) gun.
The M48A1's going to be horrific with that L7 105mm Cannon. It's shell velocity is so high as to be virtually instantaneous. And a 6.8 second reload? It's halfway put even the T110E5 into it's grave.

I feel so, SO vindicated in my choice of 'main' tank tree to follow...

To make things worse is that the L7 105 is the universal gun. Leo 1's had them. Centurions, Pattons, lolPattons. Hell, some madman put them into T55s.
And it'll likely pop up in the UK tree a few times, let alone the centurion.

Yeah, but you're not going to be able to take advantage of it across tanks of different countries.

Well...so far I'm loving the ELC, even if it reloads more like a Heavy than a scout.

This goes double because it's an end tier gun that comes with the tanks. The Patton one has the US name as well.

It's a researched unlockable on the M48. Might be on some of the other tanks it appears on. The Tier 8 or 9 Centurion will probably have the L7 as an unlockable gun too, since historically that appeared on the Centurion as the result of rounds of upgunning, replacing 17pdr and 20pdr guns.
They might also make it an option for the Conqueror heavy tank line; historically they had a special 120mm gun for that, but it's hardly unprecedented for Wargaming to design a tank with ahistorical but broadly plausible guns as alternate options.

M103 is in, and isnt conqueror basically the same thing? Very similar gun.

Tactically very similar. But the L7 105mm is almost iconic as a British postwar gun, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it make an appearance in the British heavy tank line.

So, should I still get the T110E or should I now worship before the feet of the Tier X medium?

The Top Gun award is most fun when you score it in a crappy tank. I got a few Top Guns in the much-reviled M3 Lee, and every one of them made me cackle like Mr. Burns.

T110E5 is still a good tank, the tanks that were getting talked about as obsolete over at forge were the Maus (this was argued heavily though), AMX 50B, E-100, and the IS-7 strangely enough, although it probably won't be able to maneuver to make its armor work against the mediums although the HEAT might bounce pretty decently. Not sure there, but the 50B and 100 are both very far behind.
Also, if you're seriously grinding US tanks, the Super Pershing is pretty super for xp but not brilliant for credits, I've been making obscene amounts of xp and needing to go around 1500 xp for 100k credits on premium. It is, however, utterly hilarious. I've got 9 games, 9 wins, 2 steel walls, and averaging 1097 xp. I've got a few replays of me doing funny, funny things very, very slowly
here if you're interested in the tank. One of them includes me walking up to an E-50 and making his life suck while laughing at his attempts to pen me, and another includes me killing an inattentive T110E5.
I really enjoyed the Lee, I was pretty good in it back in the day, and I had a large share of my top guns in it, with 5 in 175 or so games. It was fun because it let me talk up the virtues of the Lee. I also got one in the AMX 40, which was beautiful for the slow chain of people panicking as they realized they couldn't pen me and I was hurting them, including another AMX.

Yay. My grind may not be pointless

.
Why is the T110 still ok for clan wars though and not the IS-7? The T110's gun is just too awesome?
Credits is more of what I need now though. Never been a premium guy and have relied on the Type 59 and T34 to make cash.
Also, must resist urge to strangle Tiger fanboys to death.

But I like my Tiger

But yeah, German fanboys that have a blindspot suck. The RL Tiger owned M4s and T-34s and yeah, they do in game too, whats the problem?
And I reckon with the new MM I'll like the Tiger even more, mwahahahaha.
I got the T-25 Premium and it's everything I wished my Panther was, lol. At least with it I can earn credits without worrying about making a loss in a bad game, and can train up my crews for both the panther and baby tiger

. I think i'll stop at the KT and Panther-II then just go back to the DB and prep for the Leo I chain.
On the American side of things I'm grinding up for the M26, and perhaps one fine day I may have a M48, mwehehehee. Dumped the Jumbo, it just wasn't working out, I'd rather keep the E8 and T20 and play them back to back since they basically share the same run and gun style so I don't get out of a groove.
Likewise the T-25 and Panther complement each other well, and the Tiger and 3601, so I sort of just pick a pair and go all in. Really trying to get my crews to their next perk/skill

I refer to the "Tiger was the best tank in WW2!" fanboys actually in the history subforum of WoT who keep insisting on using long discredited kill claims on Allied tanks :p.

Ahh. OK then, carry on.
On an unrelated tangent, I got Panzer Elite off GOG since why not and I am grateful WOT will not be a Sim because goddamn, maybe I've grown old and lost my touch (I cut my gaming teeth on stuff like M1 Tank Platoon and other (admittedly flight) sims of the old school of huge manuals) but even after reading the manual and trying a few games I can barely achieve anything. It's also quite frankly boring

The 110 has a more accurate gun with still competitive DPM, the IS-7 has less DPM, much less penetration, and the IS-7 relies on being able to maneuver with its target to get much use out of those obscene slopes on its armor, and while it can just do that with a T110E5, it's a lot less clear that it can do that with the mediums.
If you've got a Type for credits don't worry about the Super Persh. This goes double if your main top tier is going to be a 110, the T34 can get probably better credits and train your US heavy crew at the same time, which is why I got the Super Persh, I'm a huge fan of my Patton and was looking for a way to give it an amazing crew.

Err...quick question. I've looked in both the tech tree and store section...but the Leo1 is nowhere to be seen. Is my copy of the game messed up or something? Beacuse that is the thing I was most looking forward to out of 7.5 and its looking like I can't get it...
On the plus side, the ELC is FUN! The gun's reload sucks...but I'm starting to see why people love the T-50 and T-50-2 now.

Oh, the trees on the website are for some nebulous point in the future. Sorry I didn't realize that you were thinking the trees were just for the next patch. I'm not sure when the Leo line is going in, with 8.0 having russian fast TDs and 8.1 having the British tanks so that's probably two months already. Where are you on your current tree and what do you enjoy the most in a tank?

Well, that explains things. Oh well, I'm patient and can wait.
At the moment I'm moving on to the T1 and nearly at the 3601. Personally, I'm loving the German medium line (III/IV is my favorite tank so far), which is why I was looking forward to the Leo. I love the speed and sniping combo mostly.

Victory!
Battle: Siegfried Line Saturday, August 04, 2012 12:18:28 AM
Vehicle: PzKpfw V Panther
Experience received: 4,284 (x2 for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 51,789
Battle Achievements: Confederate
Ohh yeah. Finally a really good panther run. Couldn't have done it without the nice KV-1S that drew fire ahead of me though.

It will probably be a good long while before you get to Tier X, young Skywalker.
Seriously, progression up through Tier 5-6 is relatively fast even without premium, which is a design feature. It slows down a lot as you get up to Tier 7 and 8, and getting past Tier 8 requires either intense grinding, very long periods of gameplay, or premium.

That should be a pretty good selection given your preferences for speed and sniping. The US heavies, especially towards the end of the line are fast and don't have the infamous Russian aim time. They also teach a lot of very important lessons about terrain management and how to use the map to your advantage. The German mediums are pretty much the snipiest tanks in the game, and the mediums are rather fast.

Yeah, I know the grind is going to slow down a lot Simon...believe me I know.
Yeah, that's what I've heard of the German mediums, which is why I'm going for them and not the Russian ones. Well, that and the A-20 was getting annoying.

Oh jeez. They just released some stats for 7.5 Performance on the Russian Server, where it's been out a week.
The M48 is cleaning house horrifically, and is going to be nerfed into the ground. Same with the T110E4 and T110E3.
