A short burst of gunfire, and a series of cut-off screams were followed by a rain of Skritarii limbs from behind the place where the Iron man had been destroyed. This was followed by the arrival of a tall red apparition, that in one glance seemed to take in everything around it, and categorise how it could all be killed most easily.

Chapel stood out in the open, unconcerned, as the thing stalked up to him. "Enter the complex. Kill all heretics you find, and destroy the source of the mechanical abominations. Do not terminate loyalist Imperials unless mission success is threatened. Acknowledge and comply."

"Yes. Blood." The thing growled eagerly, and the next moment it was gone, briefly visible as it raced down the street.

Infantry. Metalstorm time. Ejecting the Kraken clip and returning it to his belt for later use, Adivan slammed in yet another Metalstorm clip and began firing short, carefully aimed bursts into Skitarii concentrations. There no telling how much longer this might go on, and he would need to conserve as much ammo as he could. Especially with that other Iron MAn still around somewhere...

The scans indicated a weapon coming the closest to matching its specifications for proper firepower, and it quickly acquired it.

It linked briefly with the master intelligence for further directions. The Temple itself was being violated, but the other forces in the vicinity were too shattered to provide assistance for the new threat.

New instructions arrived, ordering it to disrupt the Guard regiment forming the perimeter around the temple, in order to prevent the threat of fresh reinforcements. Internal security protocols would neutralize the new threat.

As the inferno pistol clicked home in the newly formed niche in its forearm, it set out to hunt its new prey.

Kruger was worried. What if more of the Abominations were to appear? Where had he dropped the Inferno Pistol? It had fallen near.. Oh, God-Emperor! Near the Iron Man that had disappeared. He turned to Adivan. "I'm going to check something out." His few remaining troopers followed him.

The machine surged forward, crossing through the field of fire. Lasgun blasts charred the ground all around it, a few random shots even striking home to no effect. A pair of rockets exploded well behind it, the troopers unable to compensate for such a fast-moving target. And then it was in amongst the hastily dug trenches, firing at more distant targets and killing those close to it with lightning strikes of its hands.

The company it assaulted began routing almost immediately, as troopers streamed away from the killing zone, many abandoning their weapons as they fled. Within minutes Echo company of the Borean Rifles had conceded the field, and panic was spreading along the perimeter.

The Commisar screamed in fear as Narthan took another corner nearly tipping the Chimera over. He was moving the machine at flank speed having been ordered to drive it by a commisar looking for replacements. Nathan had told him he couldnt walk for a day or so.The Commisar in his wisdom told, him he could drive or be shot.


One of the troopers slid forward and screamed at him" Where in the Emperors name did you learn to drive?"


"Sorrry my bad but This handles differently that a RH1N0 hold on THERE it is "

Nathan hit the accelerator and rammmed the Iron man chasing the Guardsmen .He nailed it with the bulldzer blade on the front .The blades ripped into the machine as it was nailed to the wall

"Everybody out"

Kruger saw the Chimera ram the iron man and the troops start to disembark. "OutoutoutoutitmighthaveanInfernopistol!"

KaBOOOOOOOOOOM.

The machine quickly analyzed the vehicle and aimed a precise shot into the fuel tank. The explosion was not overly dramatic, but did serve to drastically shorten the lives of those who didn't follow Nathan's advice quickly enough. A few seconds later the ammunition began cooking off, making the immediate environment even more hazardous to mere creatures of flesh and blood.

Nathan had a evil grin as he limped over to a low wall.He waved at Kruger

"Sorry I`m late but these guys wanted to hitch a ride"

"Damn thing is still active.Time to give it the Emperors mercy"

Nathan grabbed the metal man telekinetically and proceded to rip its head off thus deactivating it.

"All units, fall back!" the colonel ordered. Be damned if he was going to waste his men on fighting a machine that had taken the best efforts of multiple inquisitors to battle shortly before. The unengaged companies began pulling back from the perimeter...

<Shoot you? What made you think I'd do a crazy thing like that? Now play along.>

"Well, you've convinced me," said Vorus aloud, "I'd like to help. Just give me the plans and I'll be on my way to spread them around so we can start a general action. I think that's a good idea, what about you Gyllia?"

<Apology. End of line.> "Affirmative." Gyllia nodded.

"Give me that." Kruger grabbed the last remaining Melta off of the trooper carrying it and fired it at the writhing Iron Man.

And the Iron Man explodes in a fashion similar to the previous one, blasting the front end off the Chimera, ending the menace.

For now...

The Seargent leans back against the wall in their make shift CP, letting out an exasperated sigh. Who the hell was letting this turn into one massive cluster fuck?

'Order the artillery to pound those skiitari, keep 'em down and let them get the hell out of there.'

His commsmen nodded, rattling off coordinates. He could hear the artillery begin to land home in the distance. The Emperor must be spinning in his throne right now...

Nathan grabed his gear bag .He chuckled as the Comm9isar ran off to gather the other fleeing troops.He slowly walks over to Kruger." How man more of those damn things are there?"

Kruger wiped his brow. "That's all of the ones we know about, but for all we know there could be thousands inside the Shrine. Exterminatus is looking better by the second, and I don't say that lightly."

The command center had largely left the skitarii to their own devices while coordinating the actions of the Iron Men, but now it returned to directing them with a vengeance. Moving through the bombardment, they headed for the safest place they could be... the retreating ranks of the Borean Rifles, engaging them in close combat.

Even with the assist his power armour provided, Skorn was looking slightly winded as he finally reached Chapel's position. "So Longshanks, trying to renege on the deal?! Every time something worthy of my blade appears, you spindly bastards destroy it!"

"Don't worry shortarse, I'm sure we'll lose control of Knives, and have to rely on your axe to save us. Now get out your damned space tape"

"Ribs again, eh? This is the last time, unless you finally get me that jump-pack, I'm too short for this shit!"

With the ease of repeated practice, Skorn rapidly taped Chapel's ribs into something resembling proper shape, shouldered his axe once more, and continued down the street towards the complex.

However, not all skitarii moved to engage the Rifles... small groups broke off, filtering away from the fight, moving with stealth and precision, homing in on the artillery batteries...

Reaching the batteries was not a terribly difficult task in the fluid environment of the current battlefield, and the first notice the artillerymen had of their new predicament came when the first shots started landing among them, before the skitarii infiltration parties began charging in amongst the guns themselves...

Greatings, with as much static as was being produced by your battles, I was having great difficulty homing in on your position.

I was able to retrieve a bit more of a cache then previously, and have opted for weapons more befitting this sort of conflict.

oh, we had some texts created by your race, that I had time to make copies of while I was waiting for the path through the webway to clear.

cait pushed forward a repulsor cart, I brought more plasma, haywire, grenades, as well as something special in the form of disposable ordinance....

instead of destroying the whole planet, we may be able to rip the heart out of the infestation and send it straight to the warp." Cait held up a trio of large grenades, heavier then anything normally seen amoung the eldar arsenal.

Also these weapons may come in much easier use, if some of you would care to accompany me, on the alternate route I suggested.

Kruger grabbed a couple of the Eldar's strange weapons, getting info on what they did.
Kruger heard the screams and weapons fire coming from the Rifles. No rest for the pious. He was just ordering his remaining Kroot to go behind the Skitarii lines and cause havok when a comm officer from the Medstation called him. "Inquisitor Kruger?"
"Speak."
"Erm. This is medstation 1; I'm afraid we don't have the equipment to save your Interrogator with us at the moment. All the prosthetics are inside the Shrine-"
"I'll see to it. Keep him alive."
He gestured to Sgt. Slate's crew and headed towards the CF known as the Shrine...

Nathan picked up a Shuroken catapult." Nice toy Cait.Mind if I paly with it for a while?"

The Kroot dashed along the rubble quickly and efficiently, getting behind a Skitarii squad before they knew what hit them...

Mostly I brought just expendables, fairly simple, stuff

also since they probably have more of those things, I brought one extra piece of war gear. I am presently using a Starcannon instead of my regualr weapon, it's like your plasma weapons except it's stable and safe. Now I am sure you have at least one of your heavy weapon's trooper familiar with las weapons....

The most dangerous thing I brought are these three, handing Nathan and Grix each one of the black spheres. once activated they will charge up, and open a one way portal to the warp. the resulting implosion will clear a sufficiant area.

Nathan looks at the object." Vortex grenades... Emperor have mercy .Are these things stable?"
