Do they (aside from Windu)? I already wondered, if Windu really told his companians, that Palpatine is the Sith-Lord according to Anakin.

also they came in sabers blazing, it's out of character to think that they would have gone for such overkill versus just a "feeble old man"

Why the hell wouldn't he? Besides, in the novel Saesee says something along the lines of "The Dark Lord has revealed himself" and none of them say anything when Mace says to Palps "You're a Sith Lord!". It's reasonable to assume that he did tell them.

It is resonable to think that those Jedi on Coruscant would know but what about the vast number of Jedi spread throughout the galaxy. They wouldn't be told (this is of course assuming that not all were wiped out immeditaly)..
Plus, the galaxy at large never does realize that Palpatine is a Force User. They think that Vader is the last one and that Palpatine is just some great and noble human who was deformed by the traitorous Jedi.
On a slightly different question, by the time of Episode II how many Jedi remained alive and active.

Pretty much every printed literature sanctioned by Lucasfilm spells it "Plagueis".

Actually, if R2 knew who he was, he probably wouldn't have done anything like that. Maybe
you would have, but not a droid.
I also can't believe I forgot to this to that post, I feel silly for it.
Since the clones are almost always fighting droid armies, wouldn't it be expected for them to have special anti-droid equipment. It might be possible that, as proposed on the main site, red balsters are civilian, green are military, and blue are some sort of special anti-droid blaster.

Such a prick? All R2 tried to do was get Luke's lamp back. Protecting his master's property is hardly being a prick.

The diplomatic wing of the Rebellion? It makes it sound like Sinn Fein. I think most of R2's "combat" features were merely features an AstroMech droid would have to assist it in its tasks though applied creatively in difficult circumstances. There is no conclusive evidence to suggest R2 did lose any capabilities.
Actually, a good deal of R2's special features were added either by the Naboo Royal Core of Engineers because he was in the service of the queen, or by Anakin. It is true that it is not necissary for his more interesting abilities to be removed, although some of his capabilites are down right deadly.

I'm not denying he has additional capabilities to Joe R-Unit. However, it seems his 'upgrades' are intended to aid him in his duties as an AstroMech droid. For example, a lawnmower has capabilities that are 'down right deadly' but that doesn't suggest that placing it on someone's face is an intended application of the device.

Srynerson wrote:On the subject of Artoo losing some of his handier features, the old "Holonet News" website set up by LFL for AotC had a news story about design problems with the rocket packs on R2 units and a request by the manufacturer that owners deactivate the rockets or return the droid for a refit, IIRC. The implication, of course, is that at some point Artoo's rockets were removed. Granted, Holonet News was presumably pretty low-level canon, but it's the best explanation for why Artoo doesn't make use of the rockets in a couple of situations where they would have made sense (see, e.g., exiting the X-wing on Dagobah).
The ability of a droid to spray thruster fuel on command could be considered something of a safety hazard. All it takes is one billion credit lawsuit after a spazzy astro droid sprays someone with fuel and then jets away to avoid harm by an agry, fuel soaked someone for the recall notices get posted....

What bearing does this have on how Palps was able to kill the Jedi sent after him so quickly?

				Jadthu-class landers
They are the sleeker-looking dropships on Utapau, correct?

He's probably referring to the gunboats seen hovering during the brief search for Obi-Wan on Utapau, shortly after he emerges from the water nearby. It's also on one of the CCG cards, I think.

The CCG card called it a Republic Gunboat, and I´ve heard the name "Jadthu-class dropships" in several CW EU sources. I´m guessing they are the same thing?

				Not an official source, but
this site curiously refers to LAATs as the
Jadthu class craft.
EDIT: It also refers to the
Acclamator as a Star Destroyer, so take it with a grain of salt.

I´ll take that with A LOT of grain. OS seems to hint that the two are different craft.

Moronic- the novleization refers to LAATs and Jadthus as two seperate craft. I still havent seen this ship you guys are talkign about though.

Vympel wrote:Checking the novelization, it's account of Obi-Wan's arrival on Utapau is contradicted by the film- in the novel, he gives his briefing to Commander Cody and the rest of the Clones after Vigilance has exited hyperspace in the Utapau system, wheras in the film he gives it in orbit around Coruscant. I don't think there's any evidence his fleet moved. That Cody and three batallions waited in Jadthu-class landers and LAAT/i's over the horizon makes no sense in light of the fact that Obi-Wan's fighter came straight from Coruscant in the film, not the Vigilance after a hyperjump.
I find it hard to believe the jump ring has that great of a range.

That also doesn't answer where purple bolts come from (granted, fighter level weaponry, but still).

There´s the Assault Gunboat. (If the Jadthu is mentioned in the novelization, then it´s probably the same thing.)
I find it hard to believe the jump ring has that great of a range.
In AOTC, a booster-ring took Obi-Wan´s fighter beyond the Outer Rim, to Kamino. Utapau is closer than that.
That also doesn't answer where purple bolts come from (granted, fighter level weaponry, but still).
I believe I saw yellow bolts in the opening battle, as well as orange and red with a yellow core in ANH and ROTJ, respectively.
