You're the Davion, right? This is what I get, so the problem must be on your end.
Ahh, no, I'm referring to the leader/population portrait.

Set homeworlds to emergency build and build out twelve space yard starbases with a fighter bay in ten turns. In ten turns you'll have 36 starbases. In fifteen maybe 80. By then research should've gotten an average level of PD maybe 3-4, and a good weapon. You could amass a huge fleet, and take one or two empires whole.
I'm considering this, but my territory is not so shit as this is my only option. But it's one.
The problem with this strategy is that someone who pumped out a few colony ships and
then started the same thing will have a much stronger resource base to work from. In my singleplayer experience, the 3 homeworlds can only support about 30 base space yards and the fleet they produce.

That's true -- but I would think anybody who has access to greens will be filling them with research centers, not mineral miners, at least to start with.
Research is king, especially in SE:V with combined arms where you need so many different technologies to have a working fleet. With an extremely limited numer of good planets, I don't see why I should fill them with resource miners. At least with low territory, if I keep up with technology, I can be a caged tiger.
I'd only consider building resource miners if I had territory like Trogdors, large number of red planets to fill with research centers and the greens for resources. Otherwise, resources take a back seat to research.

Sorry for the late turn-in. I'm happy with what I have now I think...
I've also taken a big chance in the begining. It will either assure me pre-game supremecy...Or make me crash and burn...
Cmon tux, hop to it on the turn processing!

Big talk and a late turn in? I'm uniting the unwashed masses against you first, and THEN we come for Trogdor's greens.

Don't be anal about it. I got it in as fast as I could. Sheesh.

He's kidding. He knows Tuxedo only executes every two days anyway, there's no automatic execution so it wouldn't have mattered a shit if you got it early.
Tuxedo if you do want to execute early though I doubt anybody will mind. I think early executions is fine, as long as you don't push the date before the 8:30 PM PST if there's on lagger. Like if you run early and there's one guy who doesn't know, it's probably not fair to run the game a day early and skip him when he thinks the execution time is the day after.

I'll run early if all turns are in or if someone's said beforehand that they won't make it and don't want to ask for an extension for some reason. On that note, turn is processed. Next turn will be churned tomorrow, May 18th at approx. 9 PM PDT. Not quite 48 hrs, but it's so early in the game that it shouldn't cause anyone difficulties.

My empire is all fucked up, it's not what I wanted it to be. The changes must not have taken when I was trying to re-do it before sending it in. It's the exact OPPOSITE of what I wanted! It's totally broken and has all these bonuses for intel defense. I don't know, I must have done the empire maker thing wrong, I know it was giving me issues before. This is awful! My government and cultural type are utterly broken. I've already lost out on a bunch of research points, but is there any way for me to change my racial types by re-uploading an empire file?
Goddammit. Neph says I can't do that? This is bullshit. I can't believe this happened--I know I did make these changes. Why aren't they saved? I would have been better off not making ANY changes than the few that stuck.
People wouldn't want to restart would they?
Holy fuck! Not even my racial description texts got saved. Goddammit, what the hell happend!?

Hey, Neph, what happened to the Brotherhood? The French empire you've got seems cool, but I was looking forward to seeing Nod in space.

Well, better to restart 1-2 turns in than to have you at a severe disadvantage due to some mistake.

You could have uploaded the wrong file from the savedempires directory. Also you could have not hit save empire after you made changes. It could be a number of problems. I suggest deleting every empire you've ever made (or moving them) then making a new .plr file if we do restart, just to make sure you're not uploading an outdated one.
The only problem with restarting, and in the future rolling back, is it fucks over certain people. And people who don't want to restart can hardly say no, without seeming like asses, while it's perfectly reasonable for someone not to want to restart who has a really good starting position. So my suggestion is this: if we get 8 people who say yes to a restart, then we restart. The people who say no don't have to say shit, and nobody should be singled out for not saying yes. The same thing could happen with rollbacks. If there's 7 people who say rollback, we could roll back in the future.
I for one say restart. A game that lasts 200 turns, can afford to go back.
Another idea is Tuxedo can make the decision to roll back or restart unilaterally, but I think he likes input. But then again he is the boss, so let's hope he's merciful Covvie

I mean, I really don't want to be a jerk, so I'll just explain why:
1) My government type is, apparntly, Theocratic. This means I lose 5 percent research and a point of happiness, but gain loyalty and a intel defense. This really isn't all that useful.
2) My culture type is Merchants. Not what I wanted--though I did play with the idea, the 5 percent bonus to maintenance isn't awful and if it was like Republican Merchants I might consider it. But losing another 5 percent research really hurts.
3) In this file, I didn't take Foolish apparently, so that's 500 points I didn't get.
4) I also didn't get any of the tradeoffs I wanted, so it was just a wierd assortment of stuff I didn't really want.
Now, Neph has already counsuled me that this is merely 'adversity' and that I should overcome it. I consider it a pretty fucking hefty bout of 'adversity' but at some level it is my own goddamn fault. If people choose not to restart, I won't consider them an ass. I almost didn't even ask if people wanted a restart and I certainly don't want to screw people over.
I just know that yeah, these games go for a very long time, and I didn't really want to commit to a game that could take over a year without knowing that I was at least playing something I wanted to play. Rather now than later. There's always got to be a loser though, or someone whose strategy flops and fails. If that's going to be me this time, then really I don't see why that's unfair. My anger at this has been called 'unbecoming' so far today, so maybe I'm just taking this too seriously. Regardless, I'll play the hand I'm dealt, but it's just my nature to make it known when I don't think things are fair. I won't begrude anyone saying no, and know there have got to be people who have some really excellent starting locations that it would be hard to give up.
Anyway, sorry for the drama.

It's okay Covenant, I know you didn't want to screw people over and I know you won't consider people who don't want to restart asses.
My post was mostly directed about future things, future roll backs, avoiding future problems. And now that I think of it, a cabal of 7 players holding the reins of power deciding whether or not it's a good time to roll back seems stupid. The decision should and always will lie in Tuxedo's hands, so maybe my post was premature.
I hate direct democracy anyway. The minority always gets fucked. Just because 7 says yes and 6 don't say yes shouldn't mean a roll back for sure, or vice versa.
Tuxedo apparently has the least number of research points. So maybe it is just another adversity. But maybe not. It's up to the big man now.

As far as I heard, DOGA is a bit odd when exporting into .X's for SEV to use. If you can experiment and figure out how she can get the textures to come out right, I'm sure we can expect to see Nod!
And speaking of "What happened to..." does anyone have a Homeworld 1 .BIG exporter? And such? I really want to get at those Cataclysm and Homeworld models. I'd love some of those Bentusi models to go with the Bentus.

Why aren't my ships moving properly. They received the move order but they do not move. Is something wrong or do they move at the execution of the turn?

They go at the execution of the turn, but be careful, you probably gave them 10 different move orders. Select them, right click them so they take up the whole lower menu, and hit backspace. Now give orders.
