Have you guys seen the production artwork for Kashyyyk on Hyperspace? If they can translate those paintings into beautiful moving, realistic images, I'd pee in my pants faster than my son could, after a day of drinking 3 large bottles of Dr Peppers.

Ultra-lame, I know, all I´m saying is get prepared for "jokers" who´ll rip on the name.
I doubt it. People in outside circles usually refer to the titles in full.

Besides, I don't personally read them as words, but as acronyms.

Well, that maybe true for the most part, but I´ve seen my first ROTS-quip just a few hours ago. Great, just great. Why don´t they just pile on Jar-Jar-jokes and make the retardedness (is that a word?) complete.

You know, the fact that I'm the bastard who started this "Don't send them here" yet none of you forwarded them to krousedp (at) truman.navy.mil despite the fact a few of you knew I was out of contact really bugs me.

This may seem out of the blue, but that's because I just thought of it and looked it up. While it isn't spoiler material, it is spoiler related, and those who didn't know might find it interesting. I just hope it hasn't already been posted... :|

One of the new planets in Revenge of the Sith, Utapau, which the equally new character Tion Meddon is ruler of, is another example of Lucas recycling from previous script drafts.

For the revised rough draft of The Phantom Menace, Utapau was the original name for the planet that would become Naboo in the final version.

But before that, for the first draft of A New Hope, Utapau was the name of the planet where Anakin Starkiller was hiding. In the second draft it became the desert planet that the droids landed on, which was renamed Tattooine by the third draft.

Likewise, I would be shocked, nay, devastated, if any of these new images turned up at greyarea2001 (at) yahoo.co.uk

EDIT: Thanks. For keeping my inbox pristine, of course. :)

much better. Look at the classic mon cal ship look there (remember the ROTJ preduction art? It's back)

It reminds me of that "golden warship"-concept for ROTJ, you can see the original on Saxton´s Mon Cal-page, I believe. Does this mean the Mon Cals were producing warships for the Separatists or that the Seps ship designs just looked like certain Mon Cal ships?

by President Sharky
The Seperatists stole the designs plans for future Mon Calamari warships during the Clone Wars, and they made the ships themselves. This is from a HoloNet News article, which usually have elements to tie in with Episode III.

not from the future. Just ships plans they want to make in the future.

Yes, this is Star Wars, not Star Trek, you know. (Or should that be Time Trek by now?) :P

The following is shamelessly taken from the databank on Millenniumfalcon.com (note; only rumors for the most part):

BANKING CLAN CRUISER
Confederate Starship

One of the many starships blockading the Republic capital of Coruscant.
(CGI images seen on T´Bone´s SW site.)

TANK DROID
Confederate Vehicle

The Corporate Alliance Tank Droid is dispatched onto Kashyyyk by Alliance Starships. Unlike those used in the Battle of Geonosis, the Tank Droids no longer are a droid themselves; federation Battle Droids now control the tanks.

CORPORATE ALLIANCE TROOP SHIP
Confederate Starship

This saucer-like ships dispatches hundreds of Corporate Alliance Tank Droids onto the planet of Kashyyyk.
(Possible rehash of Trade Fed ship design.)

IMPERIAL TRANSPORTER
Empire Vehicle

Chancellor Palpatine, Mas Amedda and several Imperial Guards exit this ship.
(The image of Mas Amedda with two guards has parts of a transport in the background, possibly this vehicle. Interesting name too, Imperial transporter. Transporter-part gave me ST-chills :P)

WOOKIE SPEEDER
Kashyyyk Vehicle

This speeder looks like two canoes joined by twin engines that power it across the lush tropical forests of Kashyyyk.
(Image leaked a few months back.)

WOOKIE FIGHTER
Kashyyyk Vehicle

A two-wookie vehicle. The front end of the fighter resembles a dragonfly in appearance. It is used against the invading Confederate forces.

Tantive IV
Diplomatic Consular Ship

This gleaming Alderaan diplomatic consular ship is the property of Senator Bail Organa.

In the conference room of this ship, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Senator Organa discuss the future of Anakin Skywalker and his forbidden children after a hasty retreat from the planet Mustafar.

TRADE FEDERATION BATTLESHIP
Confederate Starship

Seven Trade Federation Battleships dot the Coruscant atmosphere during the opening battle of EpIII. At nearly three kilometres wide, these Battleships form a faux horizon.

At one point, a Star Destroyer docks at the hangar bay of one of the Battleships and Clone Troopers board the ship.

TRADE FEDERATION CRUISER
Confederate Starship

The Trade Federation cruiser is the pride of the Confederate Fleet. A huge starship that has a massive turbo laser canons decked along its hull. Teh Starship is the home to General Grievous and Count Dooku. It is also the ship that holds the Supreme Chancellor captive and where Obi-Wan and Anakin undertake a precarious rescue mission.

TRI-FIGHTER nee Tri-Droid
Confederate Starship

A new design derived from the droid starfighter, it's name comes from the triple-curved wing assembly that clutches the central droid brain in its center.

These Tri-Fighter's harass Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker during the huge opening battle over Coruscant.

CLONEFIGHTER
Republic Starship

Similar to an X-Wing, Clonefighters were used during the Clone Wars. They closely resemble the X-Wing of the Rebel Alliance.

Possibly called ARC-170.
(Possibly a rehash of early Y-Wing consepts, with rotating secondary guns)

BARC SPEEDER
Republic Vehicle

Clones ride speeders called Barc Speeders during the Clone Wars.
(Possibly the red twin-seat speeder tank whose photo leaked a few months back)

VENATOR CLASS STAR DESTROYER
Republic Craft

The first Star Destroyer. It's aft section resembles the Republic Military Cruiser from Attack of the Clones, and its mid section and front resembles the Star Destroyers from A New Hope.

The plating carries turbo laser turrets that swing out of the way when Jedi Starfighters approach.

OBI-WAN'S STARFIGHTER
Republic Starship

OBI-WAN flies a Jedi Starfighter during the space battle that follows that capture of the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. His starfighter has a maroon trim and is co-piloted by R4-P17. His astromech is damaged during the battle and is replaced by R4-G9.

The Jedi Starfighter is powered by twin ion engines.

ANAKIN'S STARFIGHTER
Republic Starship

Anakin flies a modified Starfighter during the space battle that follows that capture of the Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. His starfighter has a yellow trim and is co-piloted by R2-D2.

The Jedi Starfighter is powered by twin ion engines.
(Modified? Is that the sound of more money for toys I hear?) :P

Adding to this, is the models seen on hyperspace and the webdocs, including: A5 Juggernauts (EU-reference), some kind of straight-wheeled Hailfire droid-variant (with driver´s seat), Grievous´ "wheel-transport" and ship, a gigantic walker, a small, open-air AT-ST variant and possible Wookie-helicopters (yes, HELICOPTERS!)

Epic warfare. 8)

TheForce.Net wrote: In the new recap video for Comic-con on the Official Site, Lucas is asked a few questions about the title. He answers:

"...the Sith ruled the universe for a long time

Then he mentioned Vader, Dooku, and Maul being Sith lords and Darth Sidious being the ultimate Sith Lord that becomes Emperor.
Thoughts? EU sith has been Zero-Houred by GL?

This may have something to do with the rumors that some things said in the movie will get continuity checkers to work REALLY hard trying to make it fit with established continuity.

The Juggernaught's going to be Canon? And finally an ultra walker?

If the models decorating various tables in webdoc # 1 and 4 are to be taken as "will be appearing in this movie", then, yes, Juggernauts will be G level canon (there´s a model standing behind Lucas when he enters with the script in # 1), and the "ultra-walker" is on a table in # 4. Looks like a cross between a SPHA-T, an AT-AT and an AT-TE. No huge gun though. Wonder if it´s an AT-HE. And on the concept drawings from Kashyyyk on the OS, there´s AT-TEs as well, so I guess they´re in the movie, too...

Speaking of Juggernauts, I´ve seen a concept drawing on Saxton´s site, depicting a huge walker (you see only the legs). Next to it is a threaded vehicle which Saxton calls a "Juggernaut", but it doesn´t look like a Juggernaut at all! What´s up with that?

Posted: 2004-08-02 08:52pm
by Robert Treder
The picture in question is here. It looks a lot like a Juggernaut to me, just with its wheels replaced by treads. Since the Juggernaut was originally taken from ESB concept art, it seems reasonable to believe that the artist intended for this to be the same vehicle (albeit with treads instead of wheels).

by VT-16
Ahhh, yes, now I see the resemblence. The threads had me wondering, but the front of the vehicle itself looks just like the Juggernaut in EU. Thanks, now I get the connection.

It actually makes sense for them to have a tracked version, too. With tank-treads, the Juggernaut would have more surface contact, and would thus apply less pressure per square foot to the ground (this is one of the key reasons that tanks and other large vehicles use treads in real life). This would allow it to avoid sinking in soft terrain such as mud, sand, or snow. The wheeled Juggernaut would presumably be used for harder surfaces such as roads/concrete and firm dirt/turf.

There is a variety of REPUBLIC CRUISERS.
From the latest Pablo-chat on the OS. Not holding out hope for the Victory destroyers though.
