Erm... I'm fairly certain that their object of worship wouldn't be the same Emperor.

The Azegart were heavily based on WH40K right?
Hell, They even tried to use an Exterminatus plague on Krytos.

Yeah, but since both are jacked from the same source, the religion's gonna be pretty close to the same. I over reacted a little, but it'll still be bad political mojo.

If anything, the Imperial Cult would probably deem his Emperor a heretical threat, a deceiver.

OK, I'll increase the sizes of the regional powers a little bit. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

How does it work, anyway? Regional > Minor > Major > Grand, right?
No, Minor>Regional>Major>Grand.

Meh, I hadn't noticed, but it's OK. NO one's gonna declare war on you right away or nothing, it'll just be a plot point to work around should our nations come into contact.

Crayz, could I have planets placed at the terminii of the two hyperlanes into the Commonwealth proper? The one on the West would be Osiris, and the one on the right would be Jacob's Landing. In between the two would be Desjardins.

Question, who currently controls the gamma quadrant exit of the Bajoran wormhole?

I believe the United Terran Republic.

I'd estimate that the current year is 6502-6505 CE, for those interested.
Historical Entry: Third Battle of Yarmuk
The Third Battle of Yarmuk marked the final defeat of Halite's imperial ambitions into the Milky Way galaxy and the triumph of civilization over the barbarian hordes that sought its riches. Halite's two greatest leaders, Hannibal and Jaedite, were killed in at Fourth Bajor and Third Deneb, respectively. This left her in overall command along with her Drowish companion. Despite the loss of her top lieutenants, however, she was still a dangerous foe. Secret procurement of rapid-construction technologies from various powers allowed her to make good earlier losses.
Fortunately for the Star Kingdom of Serenity, their massive industrial machine had been virtually untouched and had swung into total wartime production. Despite inferior production methods compared to that of Halite's Dark Kingdom of Atlantis the sheer number of facilities matched their enemy's buildup. Much of this, however, was masked in that those yards were producing enormous numbers of strategic weaponry. Naval buildup suffered; Halite's intelligence did not see this deception and became emboldened.
Stiff resistance by the United Terran Republic (with reinforcements from the New Republic Military Dictatorship and the New O'Farrell Republic) bought badly needed time. Annoyed, Halite forced open a dimensional portal and proceeded to virtually destroy the NRMD; the NOFR was saved only when their main fleet managed to close Halite's wormhole station. That fleet was totally destroyed and included the bulk of their Omega main fleet combatants.
First Yarmuk was an attempt by a relatively new power to throw enormous numbers of very weak ships at Yarmuk's magical shield. This was a failure, but in doing so they tied down a third of the Royal Atlantean Navy's planetoid force. The Star Kingdom launched approximately ten percent of her strategic weapons arsenal and destroyed that third of the RAN as well as completed the destruction of the SKS' nominal ally's fleet.
Second Yarmuk was an attempt to use Titan and Warlock-class vessels to punch through the shield, in addition to towing in heavy seige weapons. This partially suceeded and a combined Royal Navy (SKS), Fenari and USSSR fleet managed to destroy nearly half of Halite's yards but the assault force was wiped out or captured to the last. This risky action bought civilization two years.
Third Yarmuk was different. The Star Kindom, now desperate after a RAN offensive into their northern sectors (nearly cutting them off from the USSSR's wormhole station) launched the greatest known use of necromancy in history. This was made much worse as every last 'subject' was completely willing--this action greatly increased its power. Traditional necromancy until then used unwilling subjects; secret research in the archives found on Luna dating to c. 25000 BCE indicated that willing subjects provided a much greater boon. Sailor Saturn used that energy to oblierate Yarmuk's shield and a combined fleet of approximately seventy million allied ships attacked. The strain of this rended her unfit for the upcoming battle.
Within twenty minutes the allied force was down to 20,000 warships, mostly heavy fleet combatants but protecting a core of important selective-interdictor stations that had snuck in during the chaos of battle. At this point, the entire strategic arsenals of the UTR and SKS fired into the area, destroying 95% of Halite's RAN in the span of four microseconds. The war was mostly over by this point except for hunting down her remnants.

Close enough for government work

That sounds fun.
Why can't we do that?

Simple: Because it's been done. Not that good things can't happen twice, but good tech bases need rebuilding after being smashed light-centuries below the floor by massive, hideously-intense ultrawarfare.

It is the reaction to blatant imperialism from the other players you should worry about.

Colonize, conquer a pirate feifdom that everybody hates and stabilize the reigon, there's lots of ways to gain territory.
Attacking utterly defenseless neuclear age worlds is not going to make people happy.

Hey Phongn.
Who would I go to to buy a couple of those destroyer escorts you mentioned in the OOB?
Those could help my overstretched fleet deal with the Empire's pirate problem.
