Notice how Tingle is cel-shaded in a world where the rest aren't?
Could they do Wind Waker Link like that? :D

Makes me wonder if he puts people to sleep.

Up today is Red- I mean, Pokemon Trainer's Final Smash, which is pretty much what you'd expect it to be.

I don't know what's worse: The damage, or the fact that they put "It's Super Effective!" on the bottom of the screen when it hits.

Is worse the new youth slang for awesome these days? :P Seriously, that alone has made me need to get this game.

Tournament Mode today. The only big difference I see (apart from the obvious aesthetic difference) is that each player can be assigned a damage % handicap.

Lucas

The youth with the psychic powers has appeared—it’s Lucas! He makes his anticipated debut from the Japan-only release MOTHER 3.

While he is timid in nature, he fights splendidly. Is it possible he can surpass even Ness?!

Oh, that sucks ass. They get rid of Ness and then taunt us with the fact that Mother 3 is Japan only?

They said nothing about him replacing Ness.

Hello there, Shadow Moses

"Oh, and occasionally a Metal Gear will appear from the background."

The videoclips of the codec calls are comedy gold.

Ho, god. Those CODEC calls were hilarious. "Samus took her cloths off!" "... her loss."

Snake's introduction video was cool as well. Meeting Mario on the battlefield indeed. :D

Remember how much they talked about Roy and Marth being Japan only in Melee, and look what happened there.

This could mean a wider release of Mother 3.

Lot of stuff in that Snake video. Baseball Bat and the Earthbound item person are back. Snake seems to be able to do a sleeper hold, as well as throw his mines as well as bury them(I think thats what he throws into Wario's mouth.

Shadow Moses is an interesting idea, favoring characters like Mewtwo that have a good vertical launch. Also with the last string of level releases to finally see an end to all the bitching and moaning of "EVERY LEVEL IS BEING BATTLEFIELD OR FINAL DESTINATION!"

To be fair, AB, they were all like FD or Battlefield for a while.

Today we get two assist trophies: Excitebike (races around the stage in a pack) and Lakitu (drops spinies on the stage.)

Double Update.

First, Snake and Samus show us the old dodging and blocking. Nothing new that I can tell, but looks sweet with those two.
Once you know how to attack, the next thing you have to think about is avoiding enemy attacks. That’s where the shield button comes in handy.

screenshot

You guard against your enemy’s attack with your shield!!

Shielding against attacks is a top priority. Because if you don’t get attacked, you can’t get done in! However, the more attacks your shield takes, the smaller it gets.

screenshot

If your shield breaks, you lose consciousness.

But more important than guarding is dodging.

You just tap the Control Stick in a direction while holding the shield button.

screenshot

Tap the control stick down to do a sidestep dodge!

screenshot

Tap it backward to do a backward-roll dodge!

screenshot

And tap forward to do a forward-roll dodge and get behind
your opponent!

If you can do these moves, your enemies will have a hard time landing their attacks. And they make you momentarily invincible, so using them proactively is OK.

Use these moves as much as you can even before you get used to them. Sometimes things become clearer that way.

Anf finally, Fox shows off his HAB membership card.
Fox: Final Smash
Characters

<Landmaster>

It’s the brute tank of Team Star Fox—the Landmaster. Surely he wouldn’t bring that thing out?!

screenshot

LANDMASTERRR!

screenshot

BAROOOMPH!

screenshot

Yayyy! It’s a free ride!

screenshot

Don’t ride the Landmaster!

Jump to hover. Tilt down to roll. And, of course, fire its cannon with the attack button.

screenshot

FIRE! This hurts. A lot! So watch out!

It’s so big, it might be hard to turn around. But it’s law-breaking power and authority is unstoppable.

screenshot

Yeah. It’s cool. My heart’s aflutter.

Landmaster vs. Snake's minelaying technique, go!

Sweet. Another cool idea for Fox would have been to use ROB's support during the Venom Defense Zone mission from the N64 game.

"Great Fox will cover you."
*orbital laser fire rakes stage*

Though I guess that fits better as an assist trophy than a final smash.

More on the Single-Player story...

Or should that be: 2-Player Co-Op?
will announce this right here, right now. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, you can also play with two players simultaneously!

screenshot

Congratulations! It’s co-op play!

So, whether you’re siblings or close friends, two can play together.

Of the two, one will be the protagonist. Essentially, the camera follows the protagonist, so the other player has to keep up.

screenshot

Player 2 is kind of like another option.

Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life.

However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen.

If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1's side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life.

screenshot

You just come back naturally.

The Subspace Emissary has the following map screen.

screenshot

This is the map!

The protagonists form teams based on the developments in the story, and the characters they encounter join their team.

screenshot

Choose a team and enter a stage.

Your stock count, or the number of lives you can lose, is set for each stage.

In single-player mode, each time you lose a life, you switch to a different character on your team and are revived as that new character until you run out of stock lives. (You choose the character order for your team members at the start of each stage.)

In co-op mode, when either player 1 or player 2 loses a life, that player will be revived as another team member until your stock count runs out.

But, if Player 1 loses a life after the stock count has run out, that’s the end! Player 2 is participating simply as an optional player, so be careful.

By the way, you can also choose the difficulty level.

screenshot

From Easy to Intense!

If you choose Easy, it will be quite easy indeed, so we definitely want people who aren’t very good at this type of game to give it a try! Even they will be able to make it to the ending.

But, if you choose a harder difficulty, your rewards will be greater. That’s another part of the fun.

And...

There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before.

I’ll explain this in great detail another time.
So the game splits after the intro to the perspective of two teams: Kirby and the princess you rescued on one end, and Mario and Pit on the other. As you meet other fighters, they join your team. I think it's a safe bet that Snake is gonna show up in Mario's story.

Makes sense- Zelda/Peach and Kirby were trapped in the Arena when the subspace bomb went off, Mario and Pit were not.

Today's update: ZSS's special moves.

B- Paralyzer. Stuns enemies, can be aimed.
<b- Plasma whip- does what you might imagine.
^b- plasma wire- will pull enemies toward you, fires straight up, can be used to grapple the edge.

I really wish they weren't doing so much with zero-suit samus. She's not even an independantly playable character, right? It just reminds me of Sheik. I don't want people grabbing samus just for the point of blowing her armor off and running around like a dumbass. I hope, after a death, you come back armored.

Just seems like too much emphasis on just one character. We have other characters, like Bowser, who haven't even got a single move for them listed. Enough with the sub-form!

I don't think it's been been said either way whether or not ZS Samus will be independently selectable.
