In Shep's defense, I thought it was abandoned land as well and raised an eyebrow once people started talking about an attack on FUN territory.

If radioactive contamination is such a big deal, the UAR is more than willing to help decontaminate Zablania -- this involves removing the first 6" of topsoil from the most heavily contaminated areas and then disposing of it.

The failure of somebody's intelligence agencies to keep them informed is a lousy excuse.

Nonsense, Killbots, potential nuclear waste dump(mostly the RT 6talking there) then lunatic eco terrorists and dinosaurs?
It isn't
that hard to see how the assumption that it has fallen away from any kind of administration was made. Especially as Zablania was technically part of the Fungal Axis, and I don't recall it being folded into the successor FUN.

How about smashing irradiating nuclear ramjets into your own territory, Shep?

So you're seriously going to dig up some 900,000 acre feet of soil, and put it... where?

Technicalities, mang.
Still, if there were still people on that island - scientists, Coilerburgs, I don't know... if there were still folks there when it got nuked...
EDIT:
And the fucking fallout!

Are you saying Shep
killed FUN nationals?
In that case... MOBILIZE, DECEPTICONS. Or some other catchphrase for our usual "nuclear tensions threaten the world!!!!" season
But yeah, even if Zablania was an empty place, Shep should've known better than irradiating a 7500 sq. km area and causing fallout over a massive number of Central Sea nations.
Hell, PeZookia could have a casus belli due to the damage this fallous might cause, and so can Vanaheim... and the entier FUN actually.

*shrug* Take a look at the alliances thread. It's in purple, and Zablania (Shroom labeled it as "The Republic of One" but the leader is Zablorg nonetheless) is in the FUN roster as well.
At any rate...
Link One
Link Two
Either it's a waste dump (which nobody used)/weapons range (administered by the FUN)/ecological preserve or it's a preserve with a memorial on it and international training center.
Either way, doesn't give Shep the excuse to irradiate the damn place. As Stas said...he can fuck up his own country, thank you.
EDIT: And if it did become a testing range, he'd still have to ask the FUN for permission first. Which, obviously, he didn't.

Shep made the same mistake I did in assuming that no one would care about Zablania. Imagine that!
And, for the sake of the game in general-I know this will be controversial and won't go along well with some people, but I actually want this incident to escalate further into hostilities. I want the world to be truly shaken up, to truly have clashes between superpowers-and not just filler and padding. I know that nukes flying and armies clashing isn't what many people want, but I feel that constantly backing down from superpower wars is just a sign that the status quo would be maintained.
I don't want the status quo to be maintained. I want to see Nova Terra go through a clash that truly changes it and the world order. It's not just to see big explosions-it's to truly keep this world moving, and not static.
That's just my opinion, and I hope you can understand my perspective.

First, we need a headcount of any dead folks in Zablania.
Secondly, how long is one week in in-game time?
'cause I have a nasty surprise for everyone.

No; you didn't send a massive radioactive hulking ramjet into a tiny nation bordering most of the Central Sea islands which are inhabited by FUN nationals (not to mention possible research teams in ravaged Zablania).

Only if you're offering your country up as first to be nuked.
Because
that's what'll happen. Anyone goes to war with the UAR and nukes fly. Sorry if we're not eager to have our countries nuked to satisfy your desire to "make things more interesting".

I can provide that with my next post.

A few RL hours, taken strictly literally. One RL day is equivalent to 12 in-game days.

The explosion itself was equivalent to 4 kgs of TNT (so it won't kill anybody) , and the first radiation deaths amongst people on-site will occur in around two weeks, if any. There will also be a crapload of panic all around the Central Sea, but little to no actual deaths from fallout.
Chernobyl actually spewed a lot more crap into the atmosphere, and the death toll from fallout blowing around was neglible.
The death toll around people around the immediate area, well...let's just say inhaling radioactive particles isn't very good for you.
EDIT: And 24-hours real time is 12 days in-game according to current timeflow rules.
Also, Coiler, how about you declare war on the UAR if you want things to get interesting and shaken up, huh?

Heh. I knew I was right when I said it wouldn't go over well with you guys.
I do have a drastic, up the stakes plan ready to go, though.
And on the headcount of Zablania-related deaths, I'll recant from that and let someone more knowledgeable handle it.
Hay! Go raid some Nukistani ships again!

Oh, I will be raiding, all right.

Actually, pure kinetic energy was equivalent to about 3700 kg of TNT; the crater is going to be much much larger than that......

No, we're fine.
I actually forgot to put you on the map for a long time, but I will do it specifically so that UAR would have a nation to actually go to war with.
Go ahead, call a war with UAR. Skimmer was lamenting the lack of major wars recently... I think Shep would be happy too.
EDIT: Your new chewtoy.

Won't be much of one. Hell, they wouldn't even need to bother with the nukes. Two Imperiums ganging up on a Duchy?

Beowulf wrote:The TXAF F-14F is an even more over-engined version than the F-114 in IRT service. It will have roughly twice the thrust of the F-35C.
The F-35 is a bit incapable of accepting the Growler upgrade, since you need a WSO for it, and the F-35 is a single seater.
OK.. so does Phong produce the F-14F or you do? I might be interested in about 6 squadrons. 2 of which to be converted to F-14F with Growler add on.

Don’t worry, soon a hoard of SSD-9 atomic bulldozers (close loop reactor, don’t worry about that either) will have the problem piled into a neat little gigantic pile for removal by a Saddamistani ore freighter.

Well, he wanted action?
His position in the Central Sea however makes it so that he might be strategically important to both the FUN and UKB... if you understand what I mean. A UAR-controlled island in the middle of Central Sea would not sit well with anyone.
So before the UAR captures his island, someone else might

Someone should stop him before he can establish a beach head.
But he's so goddamn close!
Zor, send your guys in to check Zablania's radioactivity!
