Say goodbye to your promotion chances then. It doesn't take more than a couple of fuckups to permanently cap your rank somewhere in the lower reaches.

That said, I wonder how we're all doing rank wise right now.

Obviously the civilian just fainted at the glorious sight of my rocket popping the foul xenos head. Oh, around the corner you say? Couldn't possibly have seen it? But... how... what... huh? Damn walls! Get out of the way!

As long as my skills keep advancing I don't care what rank I'm at. Hell, I'm probably happier being a low-ranked supersoldier anyways.

And yes, could we get quick stats/ranks summaries?

Fax Modem listened to the radio chatter in mission control. Jon Berry had been found. He was happy about that. But where had he been? And why had he been gone so long?

Either way, at least the Acting Director would now have to step down. That man made him nervous.

He returned to his office and filed reports. After a couple hours, his phone rang.

"Fax Modem."

There was something on the other line.

"I see."

There was a pause in the conversation.

"I might have to leave soon then. I'll grab copies of whatever new technology they have and then skidaddle. My cover is probably blown by this point anyway."

Fax Modem lifted the lockdown, knowing that it was pointless now.

Fax Modem went to the research lab with memory devices, intent on copying everything in the archives and in Nitram's computers.

Well, I have fairly good accuracy, decent speed and strength and a sufficient heavy weapons skill in my second incarnation. Which isn't saying much since if I didn't have a flamer, hitting the broad side of the barn would be something of a challenge. No kill counts, though. *sniff*

Well, I'm pretty damn good with heavy weapons, not that it matters, since with a strength that low I could probably only carry the weapon and about one round. You'd think a cyborg would be strong, not -

Wait. Waitwaitwait. *peers at screen* Am I... Am I female?

Sir-Nitram. We-must-talk. About-this-chassis-modification. You-performed-upon-me. Do-not-worry. I-only-wish-to-talk. Please-ignore-the-weapon. It's-how-I-say-hello.

(This oughta be fun)

Fax entered the Archives, and began making copies of every single file onto the portable hard drives he was carrying, which thanks to innovation over time, are the sizes of car keys.

He is waiting however, as there seems to be quite a few files to copy.

Fax Modem brings out a book and starts reading as he waits.

Sadly for Reckless, FaxModem coming into his personal lab too precidence. He lifted the EMP gun. "Put the memory devices down, Fax."

"You might not want to use that gun in here. One shot, and all your records, your research. Gone."

Fax Modem saw that the copying was complete, and drops one of the memory devices on the ground as he puts another few in his pockets.

"Why do you want to shoot me anyway? Still mad about our cyborg debate?"

"Also, since when is making copies of our records not allowed? We need backups. Are you seriously going to shoot anyone who comes in thinking they should make backups."

"I have backed up the system repeatedly. However, I don't do so with portable hard drives after a suspicious event." Nitram spoke calmly. "In short, if I pull the trigger, I need to spend an hour restoring. If you are the infiltrator.. And suddenly backing up my system suggests you are.. You get nada."

A smile. "I like my odds."

"Fine. I've already dropped the device on the ground. Now what?"

"I actually hadn't thought that far ahead." Nitram mused. "Oh, right. The alarm." The scientist moved forward, typing into the computer. Not the best move, but MIT hadn't prepared him for this.

Fax Modem grabs a fire extinguisher from the wall and whacks Nitram over the head with it. He grabs all the memory devices and plants them in his pocket.

He then makes sure Nitram isn't seriously hurt from the whack, supports his head on a cushion, and then runs to the hangar.

He steals a Firebird and takes off.

Fax fails to realize that the firebird in question is inhabited by a caffine withdrawn crazy chef/pilot. And gets hit with a surfboard.

Spoiler
What? You just live in there?

Reckless watched all this, helpless to intervene. Oh, he attempted to, but any action that would physically impede or harm Fax threw up errors everywhere, and the attempts at triggering the alarm set off what felt like electric shocks right to his partially-metal brain stem. And Fax seemed to know this, the bastard, ignoring him completely.

All he could do was run out after Fax left, seeking help and hoping he wouldn't be too late to stop the traitor. And get Nitram medical attention - after all, the scientists was one of the only ones who understood the cyborg's systems.

Even if he did put him in a female chassis.

Fax Modem tasers Bear when he's distracted, then throws him off the plane, making sure not to injure him and that he doesn't land on his head. Fax Modem isn't a killer and isn't going to start today.

He flies out of the hangar.

Dammit, the only reason I live there is because they won't let me keep fuzzy in the barracks.

Fax Modem lands at the rendezvous site, switches vehicles, and activates the beacon on the vehicle he borrowed for them to pick up.

Well, it's good to see that I'm still "alive" and kicking. It's also good to see that close combat is my discipline of choice. It's not so good to see that I'm a pencil-necked weakling :P

Ah well, continue to soldier on. I don't think I've got a close combat kill yet? That would be my aspiration. No kill like a knife kill...

Hawkwings walks into Nitram's lab again, bearing two pieces of delicious cheesecake from the mess hall. "Hey Nitram, got a little somethin' for ya!" he says. As the door is ajar, he steps in and discovers Nitram taking a nap, head on a cushion.

"Well a'int he just a dandy... pillows? Pshaw, how come I didn't get a pillow? I'm still using that old burlap sack filled with potatoes! Damn R&D budget..."

That might have something to do with the female model...

Yeah I have a female model too, but I've chosen to just ignore that.
