With 50% concealment on top of a -2 to-hit penalty, yes.

Half-cover is a +4 AC bonus, I'll take a crossbow shot on the guy to my right.

blind shot is 18+4-2 = 20
Crit confirmation is 16+4-2 = 18.

EDIT: Oh hell, a blind shot's only -4, that puts me at a natural to hit roll. I pick the one on my left and shoot him with my crossbow.

18+4-4 = 18, crit threat.
16+4-4 = 16 on the confirm roll - is it a critical hit?
(Crossbows have a threat range of 20 to 20... 18 isn't a threat)

That is a hit, however. Concealment: 90+0, still hits.

Rollage on ze damages.

That's still good for 6 damage.

You hear a grunt followed by a thud. The other enemy notices as well and lunges.

7+1=8 miss

You hear a swish to the side.

He's screwed. Move silently to get behind him, then sneak attack with my short sword.

Move silently: 16+4 = 20
Attack: 18-2 = 16

A hit does d6 + d6 damage = 6+5 = 11.

Listen check 20+0=20, sneak attack failed

Concealment 90+1= hit

The mysterious enemy goes down with a groan.

(300 XP)

A few miles away...

After jogging for some distance in the forest, I finally find the horse, which has stopped and is hungrily eating a patch of green grass that managed to get some light.

I remount it, and after waiting for it to calm down a little, set off downhill through the forest at a fast trot, intending to reach the shore of Loch Ness so that I can parallel the road.

OK, since they're down, possibly for keeps, I'm going to slit their throats to make damn sure they really ARE dead, then rifle their shit (and in the process find out exactly what they were).

Bear in mind that the room is still pitch black. Are you sure you wish to continue with this... potentially hazardous action?*

Is there anything else in the room? *listen check: 19+2 = 21*

The room is much as it was, save for two incapacitated thugs. Unfortunately, the blind fight disoriented you and you are not sure which of the four doors you came through.

About to be two dead thugs. *slice slice*

Now, let's see if there's anything in this room worth looting. There's got to be some damn treasure in the place.

On the corpses you find:

21gp
Two short swords
40 arrows
Two short bows
Miscellaneous minor equipment

I'll take the cash and if they've got any oil or alchemist's fire on them I'll take that too - everything else I'll stash somewhere in this room for the return trip.

Well, now that we have been released by the bandits(for the low low price of 17 sp and diplomacy check) We continue on our way.

(how much xp do I get for resolving that without bloodshed, and without losing everything?)

Unless I misunderstood the bandits... in which case I move off a short distance and wait for my party... and if a fight beaks out... I ready myself for battle.

Thinking that he needs answers from the remaining goblin, Grozny swings the flat side of his axe into the remaining goblin, hoping to knock him out for some, detailed discussions.
Hit: 16+4+1-4=17
Wound: 5+4=9

I'll leave an innocuous but easily-seen and distinctive token by each of the doors so that if I have to backtrack later, I'll know which ways I've searched and which ones I haven't (BTW, I'll stick the corpses in a corner and use their shirts to mop up the blood, in case I have to fight in this room again later).

That done, I'm going to see if there's anything remotely useful in the room.

Not knowing how much time I wasted fighting the bandits, I keep my horse at a steady trot along the shore of Loch Ness, ignoring the sun as it dims in the evening. At around 3 AM I go just far enough inside the forest to conceal myself and prepare to rest and recover for a few hours, making sure to keep my sword near me just in case...

They let you go, and you all proceed on your way...

You knock the creature out and it hits the ground hard. (150 XP)
On them you find:

10gp
A short sword and a hatchet
And a note on the headdress-wearing goblin (which, as it turns out, is merely a gutted chicken). The note is written in Goblin.

There are a few tapestries on the walls, all depicting various Satanic rituals, sacrifices, that sort of thing. There are a few crude chairs around a table in one corner, and a weapon rack on the opposite end of the room.
It contains:
4 shortspears
2 halberds
40 bolts

I'll ransack the crossbow bolts, and peek behind each of the four doors.
