The fleeing ships were running their drives flat out, but to no avail.
The storm of normal missiles that was launched against them quickly swatted them away with contemptous ease.
The fleet Consensus turned its interest again towards the Sabai.
"Commodore," the Admiral asked, "do you need any assistance with your boarding operation? We would gladly give it."

Shi Government Announcement
Forwarded to all nearby Governments(and anyone who established an envoy)
"Four days ago, the Gornath Confederacy launched an unprovoked attack upon a Shi diplomatic envoy and escort. Since then, their government has failed to make any adequate explanation of this action, or in any way endeavor to make restitution for this heinous act.
It is the considered opinion of the Shi government that the Gornath are deeply involved in the support of pirate activity(attached is relevant data file). If any power wishes to attempt to mediate a peaceful resolution to this atrocity, they have three days to talk sense into these vermin. When this time limit expires, if they continue to fail to make amends for their greivous error, we will break them."

Give me some credit for prudence. Neither one of us knows the other enough to trust, and a fighter screen in the outer system is no threat whatsoever to you. Now frankly, I'd like to meet and get things resolved quickly and efficiently, but I'll not risk my command to do so, so if you insist on that, I'll withdraw and send in the Foreign Outreach Office. I'm sure we'll have worked out where each of us sits around a circular table in five or so years.
An active sensor search pinged the system, setting off sensor warnings as far away as Krytos. A type 68 destroyer leader glided away from the main formation.

Well... we just revealed the system to you, so if you'd kindly recall your shipkiller armed strikecraft back to your carriers, maybe we could talk. Oh, and we have a battlecruiser strike group returning in about 5 minutes. They just finished wasting a pirate base.

The fleet sweeps slowly through its broad orbit as the command staff discuss the information streaming in, both from comms and from various ELINT sections. Eventually, several minutes later, the fighter screen up, several squads arcing away from patrol patterns and merging vectors with the small escort carriers.

We have complied with your request...and my staff intelligence officer has asked me to pass along his compliments to your sensor crews. That was a very...elegant use of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Very good. And it wasn't just use of the electromagnetic spectrum. Now, since we don't exactly trust each other, let's use that destroyer you saw move out to eat on. How does roast suckling damnbeast sound? It's a bit of a delicacy.
The destroyer continues moving until it is outside missile range from both fleets.

One of the two battlecruisers of the First's order of battle breaks away from the formation's sedate orbit, accelerating inwards towards the lone destroyer. Her heavy dorsal and ventral guns pivot to centerline as the range falls between the two ships. The First's recon screen mushrooms outwards in the cruiser's wake, not coming anwhere near engagement range of the lone destroyer, but keeping an eye on the lone warship's flanks as best they can. She slows her pace as the range approaches what'd be direct-fire weapon range for most enemies the Sixth has fought to date.

I hope you'll forgive me if I bring a bagged lunch. While I don't think either one of us is stupid enough to poison the other, it'd be bloody rediculous if we started a shooting war over food poisoning.

Sabai Territory
Sabai System, Sabai
Acheron’s Hall
“It is our estimation that taking an active role in the crafting of the hyperspace lane is in our best interests Acheron. The eye agrees with this assessment.” The words of the Secretary of Trade resonated through the room.
The Acheron nodded. “Indeed. It will be cheaper than doing such a task by ourselves, and by being part of the process we will gain an in depth look at the underlining reasons behind the move.” He believed more than a bit of the reasoning was profit. A hyperspace lane would quickly become the preferred method of transportation for those nations that lacked unusual forms of faster than light travel. However, there were possible military applications to be found and the Sabai wanted to make sure that the Blue Order did not have any delusions about building a military base right outside their sphere of influence without opposition.
“My concern is that of placement. The galactic west has been our sphere of influence for some time. The establishment of heavy military forces in the area, under the guise of protecting the hyper lane is not something I am looking forward to.” The defense secretary spoke bluntly as was customary for his office.
The Acheron glanced towards his secretary of defense. “This is part of the appeal of joining into the process in the first place. I want our ambassador to the Stuarts to inquire as to what role they plan to play if any with the forging of this hyperspace lane. I also want a letter drafted immediately to the Blue Order speaking of our intentions to assist them in their efforts. Now please excuse me.”
With those words said the meeting came to an end. In less than thirty minutes after this had occurred, a diplomatic communication was on its way to the Blue Order.

Subject: East-West Hyperlane Project
It is the desire of the Sabai to join the nations working on the building and support of the fledgling east-west hyper lane. We do this in order to encourage trade between the galaxy at large, as well as ensure the adequate security for vessels which shall utilize the lane. As of this moment, we are uncertain as to how we may best utilize the tools available to us to the cause of the hyper lane and request a more detailed briefing as to the current state of the lane and where efforts may be concentrated, in order to fully utilize available Sabai assets.

Re: Rpblksrpsk resolution.
After viewing the evidence against the The Democratic People's Republic of Nowna, and we agree with Their assesment. The Empire votes Yea to Their resolution.
Part of the reason why we agree with you, Is because we face the same problem. A malcontent government calling itself "The Rakatan Freehold", has been using their meager fleet to aid the various pirate groups attacking the KSE. Most notably, the Belt Alliance. The Belt Alliance is a notorious group that nearly halted our first contact with the Federation of Thentamurgists by destroying our diplomatic Envoy. Recent evidence gathered by our reconnasance ships shows Belt Alliance raiding fleets Massing withing Rakatan territory, and several groups of debris recovered from Belt Alliance attacks indicate that Rakatan Pulsed Plasma Cannons were used. We have asked the Rakatans about this, and they have not answered. It is blatently evident that the Rakatans are supporting these vile pirate scum and destabilizing the entire reigon. They must be stopped. We therfore propose a motion to the Commission of the ERTC. We intend to deploy the First Rapid Reaction force as a peacekeeping unit to the Rakatan Freehold. They will eliminate the pirate raiders, and any Rakatan units that support them. They will then assist the Rakatans in setting up a stable, democratic government that will ensure greater security for the entire region.

Ambassador Mayhem let his mind scan through the offer he was soon going to make. It was something the Corporation didn't do quite often, but Consensus was of the opinion that it would be well worth the limited risk.
He made the necessary announcements and when the time came, he made the quick trip to the Sabai government.

"Our joint operations have been quite fruitful," he said casually in the meeting with the Sabai foreign minister. "But I, and my...government think it is only the beginning. So we are offering you to go along and make the next step. An alliance, if you will, a solid expression of both our nations hopes and wishes for this region. Call it the Western Pact." He smiled and waited for the slightly starlted foreign minister to reply.

While traveling between BFE-007 to the Auroran Imperium, the The Aglatarian Hub suddenly drops out of hyperspace and into deep space.
“Officer, what pulled us out?” The Fleet Commander asked.
“The Navigation computer dropped us, Mass shadow. But sensor readings show nothing except for a gravitational signature 1.5 light hours ahead, and it dosn't appear anywhere else....”
“Send the sensor gunboats out, bring the fleet into standerd convoy formation, Array forward, Galactic rear.
“Affirmitive”
The 2 gunboats undocked and took a quick jump 1 light hour ahead.
Gunboat 192A signaled the fleet “Command, we got nothing out here, except for slight indications of a used hyperspace lane...wait, contact firming up, we got emissions fluctuations... Command, we have 3, I repeat 3 different interdictors, all outputing different mass shadows”
Onboard the Galactic
“Commander, sensors show 2 groups of ships jumping out of hyperspace to our reletive upper port and starbord, the computer does not recognize any of those ships... readings clearing up, its a pirate fleet, no 2 ships are alike.” Sensor officer Elch reported.
“We got trapped by a simple convoy trick, they don't know who their dealing with. Okey, give us some buffer room, tell the Array group to advance up to 200,000KM ahead of us, launch all fighters, recall the gunboats to.. 20 light-minutes above us, that should give us a clear reading.”
“Sir, 5 more groups have dropped out of hyperspace, 2 infront of us, 3 behind and below us, all are around the same size, same non-organized formation and ship design.”
“Okey, flash a message to the Array, tell them to hold their position
Whats the current fleet layout, Escharly?” Petrach, while giving out commands, panels, which begin streaming information about ships in the fleet, unfold from the walls.
“Array has 4 cruisers around it, we have 6, the Trader class is split even, but corvettes are concertrated mostly up front, 30 corvettes there, leaves us only 15.
The gunboats are all here though, should help us stave off those flankers”
“Alert the Boss, and flash a message to 6th Cruiser, Imperium, Hegemony... screw that, launch a wide spread distress signal, simulate a convoy in distress” Finshed with the panels, Petrach sat down on the command chair and started inputting course changes to the fleet. “Move the entire fleet 40 degree's starboard heading and accelerate”
Escharly looked up, startled,”But that will only alert every single pirate on this route!”
“Thats exactly the point, we have a chance to clear this entire route of scum, while we launch the signal, send a tight beam transmission to 6th Cruiser, Imperium, Hegemony, requesting urgent aid, detailing the situation.”
Message: To the receivers of this message, we have encountered large groups of pirates, attempting to draw them in, all of them are low power ships, require assistance, clearing route, bring what you can.
Sensor details follow.
OOC: Pirate ships, each group has:
1-2 cruiser size ships, weak
10-15 corvettes, smaller ships
2-3 carriers deploying:
50-70 fighters and bombers.
