Man, I'm keeping my LP skill low for the moment in favor of speech/repair (Got jury rigging) so they're at 100 at lvl 16. my LP skill is only 50 right now because I'm now favoring science/medicine for the more "interesting" interactions they provide.
Any other way to get the iwin gun besides 100 LP?
EDIT - addendum: do skill books stack bonuses?

Heh.
I'm doing my Laser Legion character, and just wiped out Forlorn Hope. Few days later NCR Ranger patrol comes over does the whole "You have 3 days to kiss our ass or we kick yours" spiel.
I immediately talk with Cassidy who's my companion, and she's all "You're a bastard, and I'm leaving you."
I was all "Aww.. why don't you go run home to your family. Oh wait, they're dead."
She for some reason attacks me, don't know why. As she starts shooting at me, the NCR rangers start shooting her. I didn't even have to equip my gun before she was bleeding out in front of me, the Rangers and I departing peacefully.

The only way is to 100 Lockpick. And skill magazines don't stack, but things that do affect LP does. Get Perception up via drugs and alcohol and 10/20 from the magazine.
Only reason I get it so high(80) is because medicine is fun, but speech covered most of the interactions except to a few druggies, and science was useful only a certain level except to robots. Lockpicking was the way to go for early on guns with Lucky and the Gobi being easy grabs. One thing I particularly disliked is how much fucking trouble it is to be able to get Power Armor training.

Encountered the worst thing ever in any game. EVER in NV. There's a quest where you confront a guy about a thing he has done. His actions resulted in people being KILLED. You can either tell him you are going to report him, or that you will let it slide because his logic makes "sense". Or you can just kill him. Let's run down what happens if each:
1. You say you will report him.
He gets on the loudspeaker and announces to everyone in the area (Who is apprently sympathetic to him) that he messed up and asks for forgiveness. He then kills himself causing all 50 Bajillion dudes in the place to attack you. (PS - if you're friendly with these dudes, you will walk out of this place as the antichrist.)
2. You kill him outright.
(See above)
3. You keep quiet.
he thanks you and sends you on your way, effectively getting away with murder.
Way to go, Obsidian.

... That seems like it might be a bug. I'd hope it's a bug, because otherwise that's just silly as hell.

And hang it all, I agree with you that Alpha Protocol is a really cool game and it is a shame that it will NEVER get a sequel. (This has been officially confirmed by Sega.)
I bet you and I could scrape together 20 bucks to buy the IP and make the sequel by re-releasing the exact same game called something else and make millions because idiots believed the reviews and NO ONE bought the game.

I said I'd report him and I never ran into that bug. They all stayed friendly.

Sega doesn't own the IP to Alpha Protocol. Some people from Obsidian have come out and said Sega have no grounds to say that there will never be a sequel, only that they won't be the publisher.

Oh shit, for realz? Well, slap my ass and call me Weemadando! That's at least slightly hopeful news, as I enjoyed AP quite a lot!

I'm reaching the end game soon, I've done the vast majority of the quests and I hit Level 30 a while ago. We all know DLC is coming (for X360 first, fucking annoying) to raise the cap to Level 35, which is nice.
Anyway, news on the patch:-
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog ... te_roundup
For the upcoming patch,
all energy weapon ammo types (including MF Breeder and including base types, but excluding Flamer Fuel) have built-in DT bypass. I have made other tweaks to individual Energy Weapons across the spectrum, but the modification to ammo effects is probably the most noticeable and significant.
I guess they realised the Laser Rifle was so depressingly
useless against armored foes

You think they'd have noticed their entire apporach to armour and damage mitigation has been broken for years... but patching after launch is ok I guess.
Except I already returned it for putting me to sleep.

Incidentally, I just did the mission where you meet the Boomers in hardcore yesterday. Hilariously it was even easier the second time around because there's a trick to it. You have 3 doses of turbo and you can ignore the majority of artillery strikes. Drop a dose as soon as you hear the first shells launch and you're good to go until you hit the tunnel with the locked door, then drop another dose while you're running towards the fence. A doctor's bag or two is essential for dealing with limb damage but otherwise it's perfectly doable.

Tunnel with the locked door? Why would you go near there? Just make a beeline to the fence from the road leading to Nellis, you stop at a few houses along the way to take cover, you're golden.

Having to deal with the houses killed me more times than I cared for my first time around, and I found it easier to avoid artillery on open-ground.

Anyone who had trouble with the boomers doesn't know how to play the game. Seriously.

That didn't happen to me. He commits suicide and that's it. Are you sure you didn't try and loot his corpse or something?

I looted his body when he popped a cap in himself and nobody went hostile.

Why bother sneaking? One of the NCRs was watching me while I did it.

Taking his pistol counts as stealing for some reason. Probably just an oversight since it wasn't actually on his body. GO OBSIDIAN!

I think it depends; you can usually take their gun through their corpse (which is never 'owned' by anyone) but if it falls far enough away from the corpse and you pick it up off the ground, that's 'stealing'.
Beth's system in this regard has ALWAYS sucked, but any game where people would cry if you couldn't pickpocket 500 bullets will always have issues like this.

Just finished the game. I killed Legate Lanius (I could've persuaded him to leave, but I couldn't leave him alive) and took his helmet and sword, then dragged his body from outside his tent and cast it into the pool of water nearby, as a sign of disrespect.
I never did kill Caesar, however. Something to do next time.
I'm really pleased with the sheer
number of endings it goes through, for every place you visited, every organization you encountered, and every companion you had, all dependent on what you did. Just fantastic. Though I would've liked if Ron Perlman had narrated it all.

(he only narrates the main parts, the other people you met narrate the rest- your companions narrate their own story etc)
What a big game. Really good fun.

Finished it. Loved the feeling; there's a lot of nostalgia dredged up in them thar bugs. Like many, I wiped the Legion off the face of the earth; if it was a guy and wore a skirt, I shot it.
Which was the only real problem I had with the game - despite its best intentions in making the game harder (even reducing the efficiency of certain perks from Fallout 3) by about the midway point I was death incarnate of the wasteland; for fun I saved in advance and then wiped out the entire Vegas strip just to see if it was possible. It was.
Oh, and I'm going to hate myself for posting this, but watching Caesar and Boone get down and get funky is worth the price of admission:
Yeah.
