Ground troop training has been pared down to 20000/$, 10x equipment; I will not criticize this as it would be hypocritical. Also, the image of a mouse operating the controls of a giant war robot amuses me.

Minor changes made to comply.

I also find the image of a hard-ass veteran rat with the hair burnt off one side of his face eating a cigar to be hilarious.

I would allow a trade route with the rats. Considering the Furlings hate cats they would probably laugh out loud at the idea of mice killing them...thus the trade route...more money for you! Also, anyone else who has an open trade need only ask...just don't expect one in return (I've used up all my NCP already). Speaking of which...was my OOB good? If so, I can start working on descriptions of the ships.

Oh, and Space Sweden ships stay far away from Space Japan territory...considering our nation is the same name as one of their sectors.

Oh, I misunderstood- didn't see the VERMIN guys. Anyway, suffice to say that troops at 2000/$ are something I won't criticize or complain about at all, period, regardless of how you go about getting that value. Higher than that, I can accept, but think carefully, and more carefully as you go up. 1000/$ isn't totally out of line, it's just... really freaking extreme.

With the way things are going, it may very well have been the case that some of Space Sweden's founders were exiled political dissidents from Space Japan. It'd explain quite a few things, like some of the location names and the existence of the Miyazaki Sector.

With the Holy Empire shaping up as it is, it makes me wonder if Space-World War Two might be a thing that happens.

At this point in time...it depends. At the very least, I'll have to discuss it with Akhlut, seeing as the Grays have their own designs for the Covenant that most likely won't involve the Screworlders glassing them.
The Kritarchy would definitely start encouraging breakaway factions from the Screworlders if they were threatening the Covenants. And encouraging pirates near their systems. And encouraging other nearby polities to strike while the iron is hot. And possibly encouraging certain malcontents to sabotage improve the ships going to attack the Covenant.

The Covenant is much too valuable to us to allow for them to be harmed.

From what I've read, maybe not, unless somebody tries to poke the Holy Empire out of their isolationism.

The Kritarchy would swat anyone's poking hands away. Isolated and dealing with their own threats makes the Holy Empire much more predictable and keeps them from doing too much we don't want them to. Having them go out and fight someone else? Could be useful, but it could just as easily make them too much more powerful than we'd want.

No, best to keep the Covenant and Belkans engaged in a long-term war of attrition with Haruhi's followers.

Breakaway factions? You do not understand the Screworlders, Akhlut. They are mad. So utterly mad and yet so utterly sane that while a small few might listen, the others will simply ignore and listen to teh Greys, and end up doing absolutely nothing except for that which brings them amusement. Naturally, this amusement involves explosions. And dying. And waking up in a new body.

Because death is cheap, you see.

Never mind, then. After reading things more closely, the Holy Empire is expansionist. Well, as long as they don't make entrances into Bastian territory, the Bastians will probably leave them alone.

Anyway, if Scottish Ninja sees this, I ask this: do you mind if mercs hired from the Volscian Confederacy get used to fight in brushfire wars between the Grey Kritarchy and Neithian Union/Bastian Star Empire?

I decided this PM material was better taken out into the open (let that be a general principle- best to air things in the open, not in private)
KhorneFlakes wrote:Simon, did you get my mention about my revision for the Glorious Harbinger of the Color Grue supership? I've changed it's point value to $3200 - I feel that is good enough because it means six of my battleships can destroy it, but the GHCG remains powerful enough to be a big threat, while not being OP.

BTW, one of my battleships cost as much as your Vindicator-class ion dreadnoughts.
I would feel, in some corner of my soul, a little happier if you toned it down to around 2500$, but I don't want to have a knock-down drag-out argument over it.

Also, by the way, I don't actually have any Vindicators. The class exists, but the first production run of... three, I think, are still in the shipyards and will be for a long time yet. They're part of an ongoing fleet modernization and update program the Umerians began about a year or so before game start, the same one the Auroras are for- remember my prologue post?

(by the way, what did anyone think of that?)

Hmm. I'd propose the Holy Empire as the primary antagonist of the Hierarchy, except a bunch of anime characters against an empire of catgirls would be too much japan for this game to take and the entire thing would collapse into a singularity of multispectral hair and tentacles. So we'll probably end up with the weird Hellenics..who apparently aren't flying space triremes?

Depending how far away we place the Holy Empire when we finally get a map and given it's nature, I wouldn't be surprised if we wound up with them having some conflict at some point.

Also, Technology Entry, Prolgoue and MATHS all in progress here, I should have at least one (Hopefully all) of them posted ni relevent placed over the weekend real life permitting.

I have the Grays as my enemy, I think, which is a bit ironic given how I visualize one of my ship classes. I should maybe decide later when I'm in a less obsessive mood over that mod, though. Swiped from this trailer. It may be a bit too Fallout-y, given one of the species in the Empire are talking Deathclaws.

Homeworld: Braxis.
Adjective: Braxian.
Government The Braxian Collective (Autocratic, Militaristic)
Society: Militaristic, Scientific.
Planet: Braxis is an Temparate world that trends towards hotter climates. Jungles and Rainforsts Dominate the landscape, with 65% of the world being Water.

History
Braxians evolved around a massive metal structure on left on the planet from before they became sentient. The Tribe who discovered it beniftieted from an early advance of makeshift metal tools from the wreckage. They Quickly dominated the other tribes in their area with their military prowess. As time went on, the strange metal structure continued to grant them a scientific advantage over the other tribes on the planet. Metallurgy, Smelting, Gunpowder, electronics, lasers, all stemmed from this wreckage of the crashed ship. The Braxians never could figure out from where, or who had piloted the ship to their world, but named it the Braxian Craddle, because it allowed their civilization to flourish. The Braxians unified the planet after a few Unifcation wars, hard fough despite their technological advantage. They established a few colonies within their solar system before discovering FTL travel, once again from the wreckage.

After getting offworld, the Braxian Collective solified their footing in their Home system of Alhass. From there they quickly colonized the three closest sectors due to favorable climates on a few planets and the Braxian physiology's adaptiveness to climates other than cold. With the Division of labor already set in place by their cultural norms they gained many resources from their new sectors, allowing further colonization into the fridnge of their territory. During this period, they encountered the Bastians, and developed a collabrative trading, and military alliance.
Monothlithic Archetucture, leaves much of the jungle undisturbed. Step pyarmid compounds form center of all Braxian cities.
Culture
3 castes, Egalitarian, Social Mobility acceptable if extraordinary in aspects beyond one's caste.

The Brax: The Brax make up the majority of the Lizard folk population. They are found in all walks of life, from soldiers, nobility, and priesthood.
Brax’ta: The Brax’ta are the shock troops, royal guards, and laborers of the Lizard folk. Twice as tall and brawn as the Brax, their size and strength reflect the roles the Brax have historically assigned to them.
Brax’mu: The Brax’mu are the artisans, crafters, as well as serving as scouts and assassins. Half the size, but twice as clever, their small size and intuitiaveness lends itself handilly to these roles.

Tribes
Tribes differentiate from one another based on coloration patters of their scales. Individuals have their family color in spots or stripes which can vary greatly, while their Tribal colors are the primary color of the creature.

Religion
The Braxian have no known deities. But make a point to worship Various "Spirits." Everything has a spirit, with the most notable spirits being, Creation, Trees, Metal, and the Craddle.

31 NCPs.
Home sector + 2 GDP boost (ancient space wreckage) = 9
3 Core Sectors = 15
2 Mid Range Sectors = 6
1 Trade Route = 1 (Bastians)

OOC: Can someone please link military creation rules?

You don't need the OOC marker here. Anyway, here's the short form and the long form for the rules. Since I'm planning on a Cold War with the Grays, how would the Braxians fit into this? They're supposed to be Bastian allies, right? Perhaps the alliance was made long after the start of the Cold War.
EDIT: Just after the Civil War would be a good time, actually. Lots of population dead. The Empire would be greatly weakened, which would be a good time for the Grays to press their advantage.

That seems a bit boring, though. I'd rather you not end up basically a Bastian satellite state like it would be if you were a dog on a leash kind of ally. What would be your motivation to join in? Friendliness towards other lizard people? Encroachment by the Greys in your territory?

Yeah, That sounds better. The Braxians do not like encroachment on their territory.
