Dark Hellion, I think your over reacting slightly. In my oppinion using cards you don't own should be fine as long as it didn't go against any the type of format. So if it was type 1 using only cards you own, then I would have a problem with it, or if it was just type 1 for that matter. Appr. puts everybody on an equal playing field when building decks. That means it is up to the players to decide whether or not they are playing with any restrictions. Captain Cyan said he was fine with it, so there should be no problem.

Dark Hellion wrote:What the fuck are you talking about. I am talking about you playing with $1000+ of cards you don't own. I would play 4 A. recalls in casual. I would play Jar, and win turn 1 90% of the time. then i would get board and play shard phoenix, or Marsh viper/hermatic study. Still with 4 recalls, but they would be fun, and interesting to play.
Then go ahead.
Your are simply cheating your opponents, which is what I would be doing with Jar.
And Cyran said he doesn't mind.
You are acting like a child, who realizes that he cheat at a game for the first time.
And I've already stated before that most of my decks weren't legal. If you don't like the fact that I "cheat" then don't play with me.
Your act is so grandiouse that it is stupid to an outside viewer. I can make academy, or a very broken version of long, or Infinite turns loop, and not feel bad, and not use cards I don't have a phone call away. I wouldn't do so, because it is unsporting to use 7k worth of cards that I know the opponent has no access to.
And you're acting like a snobby elitist. If somebody wants me to use a legal deck, then I will, but until then, you have no room to complain because I'm using it against people who don't mind.
You still seem to think that apprentice somehow invalidates the fact that you are playing with an extra used car worth of cars.
Apprentice allows anybody who wants to create decks with cards they don't have to do so. If they wanted to use the cards that I'm using they could.
Now if you want to prove your a dumbass who is new to the idea of P9, go to the MTGnews forums or somewhere, instead of here, where you have an experienced player to point out your idiocy.
Yeah, again with the elitist attitude... Here's a tip: Don't act so conceited. "Hey, you don't know what these cards from Alpha do, you're a noob! HAHA!" "Haha, I'm more 'experienced' than you, you suck!" Drop the act, I wouldn't care if you're the current world champion, half your posts in this thread are dedicated to proving how you're so good at MTG, how much you know, what amazing wins you've pulled off, etc.

I suggest you take this to the HoS or PM if you want to continue it.

Let me state for the record then that any game I play I expect my opponent to be playing by the Restricted card list for Type 1 and 2, because that is what I try to play by, even with my 'casual decks'.

If Exo had been playing me when he had all those Ancestoral Recalls, I would have called him on it and asked that he either drop the cards, or change decks.

The decks I played with against you were legal. The Ancestrial Recalls were added into the other deck which was a new creation...

Thank you ladytevar, my point exactly. 4 recalls is simply unimaginative. Its like taking an extra move in chess, its not done for a reason.

Okay, already! DH, you're doing the equivalent of walking in on someone's game and yelling at them for not playing it the way YOU want, even though YOU aren't even in the fucking game!

Here's the drill: If someone wants to play with Alpha rules, no card limit, fucking decks full of lotuses, and THEIR OPPONENTS DON'T GIVE A SHIT, then they can do it. Without being flamed for it, because there is no reason that they can't do whatever the hell they want in their own casual play.

If anyone is absolutely so stubborn that they can't agree with an opponent on proxies, rules, lists, formats, etc., then DON'T PLAY WITH THEM.

Thats great lagmonster, but they shouldn't brag about it either.
If you wanna do that fine, but do it in you own home and don't try to brag to me.

Would all of you just shut the fuck up and drop it. I do not give a shit that he used cards he will never own! If I'd had Apprentice I probably would have done the same fucking thing. Hellion, shut the fuck up I don't care how good you are. Everybody else, drop it, it wasn't your game, so it's not your problem. If Exon tries that with you THEN it is, until then shut up.

Christ you've wasted a freaking page arguing over something that has no reason to be argued over.

Game between me and Exon, he had a blue deck. I had a vampire deck, I started beating the hell out of him with a Sengir Vampire which I'd gotten to a 6/6 with help of Sadistic glee and Nettling Imp. Then he returned all black permanents to my hand...got some creature which can tap mine permenantly. He almost had me, but had a Simulacrum that saved me for 1 turn, then I got a Sinister Strength for a vampire and killed him. He had some freaky cards though that almost screwed me over...damn controlness.

Almost... I think I might've won if I didn't miscalculate the amt of mana you had and wasted a mana leak.

Is this the only thread that the MTGer's look at? Could we ever get our own private forum if there are enough of us, so you wouldn't have to look through the whole thread to find something, you could post your deck ideas etc in it's own subject, I'd do that here but no one responded to my elf one when I posted it.

This is the only MTG thread. There are less than a dozen players, so it's not too obtuse to ask that you keep discussion to one thread, and there's NO WAY an entire forum would be devoted to one game. Sorry.

I'm starting a magic shop up this Saturday. 8) Any one live in northwestern Michigan? I'm holding tounements at it every Saturday and Friday.
The cool thing is that there is no good place to buy magic cards in this town so business should be fairly solid.

Well the rent is free because its in the upstairs of my freind grandparents antique store, that is only open during the summer because of no heat. Were using a space heater to get around that detail. They also paid for the insurance, so We are in a virtually guranteed to make money position.

Sounds like a nice setup. Make sure you hit all the schools with flyers, as well as other places kids hang out.

My school doesn't allow flyers, so we are going to try the school newspaper.

Me against Cyran:

Round 1: He was owning me, then he allowed me to add a land into play since I was mana screwed. Big mistake, I got a Energy Barier out, followed by a Cephalid Constable, added a Cloak of Mists and Arcane Teachings to it, then used Wash Out, returning all his creatures, then proceeded to return his lands back. He gave up, but he would've won if he didn't let me get my land.

Round 2: My odd Tri-color experimental deck... I got a good start, but he didn't have any lands, so I returned the favor and he got one from his library. Summoned a bunch of Lanowar Elves, got lots of Elves. I got out two Yavimaya Kavus... We had a bit of a standoff until he got out this weird elf that allows him to get 7/7 Trample tokens by tapping 5 elves. He got 5, then attacked with his Heedless one, but then he had to go. This one was pretty much a draw, but I think I could've won... I had two tangles in my hand, and a reflect damage, I was waiting for him to pump his Heedless with his two Wirewoods, then I'd reflect it back, killing him.

Good game :D

If anyone wants to play type 1 or casual some time, msg me on MSN (or use Trillian) at xgravityx@hotmail.com (or send me an email there with [Magic] in the subject line so I don't think it's spam). I don't know anyone who plays magic near me, and I haven't played in 2+ years, so it would be nice to get in a few games.

I'm always up for a game... I've got both T1 and casual decks.

Cool, now the problem is both of us being online at the same time :P (I live in Australia).

How much land and a mana producers (other permanents that produce mana) do you guys usually put in a deck. I know that one third of your deck should be land, that's what I always do, I get paranoid sometimes about putting a high or moderate mana cost card in my deck, and I wish a deck with more than sixty cards would work better, I almost always want more to put in that I couldn't.

I had a anti-black deck that was white/green. Lanowar Knight, and all the Mystic creatures from Judgement formed the basis for the creature part. A couple of Mirari's Wake really helped to pump my creatures up and addd mana.

Jugement and Apocolypse are both great sets to get cards from for antiblack decks, since Judgement was basically made to counter Torment, a set based alsmost entirely on black. Apocolypse had alot of color protection cards, plus creatures, instants, and enchantments that can turn non-black creatures to black, incase you use it to go against a non-black deck.
Judgement was a great set, incarnations, solitary confinement, arcane teachings, etc think a box goes for 120 in most online stores.

The exact number of lands and other mana producers depends on the format and the type of deck. There are Type 1 decks that have 10 or fewer lands, but have other mana producers, and cheap spells. In type 2 the best number of lands can be anywhere from 18 to 32 depending on the environment and type of deck. Slow, controlling and multicolour decks generally need more land than fast, aggressive and single colour decks.

Depending on the deck, I usually add in about 12-18 lands... It works ok for me.

Me vs. Cyran:
Round 1: My Goblin deck versus his vampire one. He got a first turn Segnir Vampire out with 2 dark rituals. Ow. I got 2 Goblin Warchiefs and one Goblin Sharpshooter. He attacked, and I couldn't block because of flying. I got a mana echos out, but then he added sinister strength to his vampire, giving it 7/5. On my last turn to live, I drew a Goblin Piledriver, summoned it, used the mana from mana echos and brightstone ritual, and used goblin offensive, then attacked. Very close call, if I didn't have the right cards...

Round 2: My artifact deck versus his vampire deck again. I got out a few mana producing arits, a cursed, but he killed me with his Segnir Vamp.

Round 3: My red rush deck versus his Invasion era Dragon deck... I got mana screwed, he managed to turn his Llanowar elf into a 5/6 trample that gains life it deals, and a Rith the Awakener out... I lost.
