In the sack, along with your colonial gear.

*Grabs some candy and tosses it in The Sack as well*

Is anyone even reading the game thread? Rogue, the Auroran situation just got handled. They aren't on those worlds any more.

Poor rogue has a brother that hasnt been letting him use the computer(even going so far as disconnecting his internet connection out of self-righteous spite)

Dammit, I had to react in some way. Besides, I'm not in on your treaty negotiations. :P The Blackstar is going to do what it does best; see without being seen. It will find that there is no Imperium military presence in the systems, report such, and go home.

*coughs* like i said before mbadi is the only human serving on the board. and not all of the cyborgs in the hegemony are completely cybernetic. a vast majority sitll have organic bits and pieces intact, usually the head and chest unless there's extensive damage. -and- thanks to the over specialization in cyborg technology can make nearly lifelike appendages that are almost impossible to distinguish from the real thing. including tongues. ;)

It wouldn't be the STGOD without the Trolls.

I'm sure that the Kzin still have a few HIDE IoD units lying around that you can buy ... for a price ;)

I assumed my group wouldn't know that for certain. Not only that, this is the UVP's first attempts at diplomatic contact, they're going to want to make a good impression. Not only was one group set aside as a welcoming force, your ship (and possibly another) are stricken near enough to UVP territory that it would look very bad if we didn't respond, especially considering you were bound for our territory. I figured the response, while overkill, made sense.

The Cruiser-class and above ships have tractor beams.

Just Cruiser plus? The neb-b which is a fairly average escort frigate (perhaps a little on the small side?) had two tractor beam projectors. I'd assume most escort frigates and escort carriers would have them (destroyers would definatly have them). Strike vessels might not however.
Then again, they are your ships ;)

I could have redesigned the escort-class ships to include at least one tractor beam projector, but decided against it (I was using D20 Star Wars rules to build them, and I didn't feel the expense was that justified). Besides, I'm trying to go with the whole "slowly adapting technology" thing and just decided the arrays were only small enough for the cruiser-class and better.

I'm pretty sure that that branch of the HIDE technology tree was entirely lost. The Bozon Field Generators, Logic/Antilogic reactors, the fearsome Reality AssertiTron and the nigh omnipotent SMEF gun and LU Shield... all gone. Thank God.

The Oppenheimer had a bank of them, and it was designed and built by HIDE technicians. Of course it mounted a fair bit of stolen technology, it's possible that the data was seized from someone else.

The SI unit of stupidity is the bozon. Your garden variety idiot barely registers, but trolls are so dumb as to generate a detectable energy field. The Bozon Field Generator is an attempt to harness this malevolent power; while one is in operation the laws of physics and probability are distorted, machinery tends to fail, and dumb things happen. It also tends to attract trolls.

The Logic/Antilogic reactor is a corollary to the matter/antimatter annihilation reactor, except that it uses a far more energetic reaction--obviously that of logic and antilogic. Moreover it is safer. Because the ship, like the universe, is carrying logic and antilogic in equal amounts, there is no danger of containment loss as with antimatter. Concentrated logic is a deadly poison to trolls, whereas anyone who has seen ST:TOS can tell you that nothing destroys robots and supercomputers like antilogic (the Kirk Tactic!).

The Reality Assertitron is a powerful weapon which forces things to operate as they're supposed to, neutralizing Bozon Fields, Infinite and Finite Improbablity machines, and other such things. It is a sure deterrent to Trolls.

The SMEF (Spontaneous Massive Existence Failure) projector makes things stop existing by a process so esoteric not even the people who designed it understood it (they were in fact instructed on how to build it by the unspeakably advanced Outsiders, a race that'd been space-faring for about as long as there had been a multiverse). The targets simply go away and don't come back.

The LU (Little Universe, referring to the Universe Shield which was a different thing) shield used the SMEF projector to make attacks directed at the protected vessel go away, rendering it pretty much invulnerable, though attacks composed of massively huge numbers of projectiles/beams could (and at one point did) get through.

All of these things were mounted on the GPF Oppenheimer. She was more or less the most fearsome combat vessel ever constructed in the STGOD, thanks to the last two inventions. It was helmed by (evil) Pablo Sanchez, one of many author-avatars present in the STGOD, who had nearly unlimited ability to tap the Dark Side of the Force and some other bits. At one point he psychically assaulted Nitram's nanite mind collective Beast and did a crazy amount of damage (something like 250 populated galaxies throughout the universe--evil Sanchez probably has the all-time bodycount record in STGOD thanks to that). He was not badass enough to tango with Saturn, however, and got himself perished at Skaarjin. The Oppenheimer, along with the Sailor Jupiter, disappeared and have not been heard from since.

IIRC, while it was called a Bozon Field, the actual measurement of its intensity was the Jacques. 1 Ja is actually quite a potent field; usually most trolls are measured in the mJa intensity.

The Moax

New Bushido forbids the Commonwealth to deploy superweapon platforms such as superlasers, seeing such weapons as tools of brutality and murder. Never the less, there are elements within the Federal government that recognize the need for extreme weapons for extreme circumstances.

It is common knowledge that the Commonwealth Army and Navy make extensive use of basic genetic tinkering- Every Commonwealth soldier's neck is distended in the back where his or her combat drug glands lie at the base of their spine. The co-ed nature of the Commonwealth Army is made possible by strength boosting modifications which render all but the slightest women capable of bearing full kit and marching for days, while surviving on minimum rations.

The dark side of these admittedly very crude modifications is the insight it gave the Agency, the Commonwealth black ops division, into advanced virology and tailoring. It was this expertise which allowed the creation of the Moax- a plague designed to be used as a strategic weapon on fortified worlds. Though it must be deployed by airburst missile warhead, it is incredibly potent. The initial disease cloud can claim the inhabitants of many square miles, with some displaying infection immediately, while others carry the dormant seed for weeks before breaking out.

The disease has three stages. The first stage is a brief period of weakness and fever, lasting anywhere from a couple of minutes to hours. The second stage is truly horrific. The carrier's brain is heavily modified as the virus takes hold. Higher centers are shut down and rapidly rot away, and the carrier becomes incredibly aggressive. No longer able to form coherent thoughts and incapable of feeling pain, the carrier hunts down it's former comrades in a state of panicked, violent aggression. Those it catches it will maul, either killing the unfortunate or infecting them with the disease, which at this point spreads by bodily fluids. Second-stage carriers can display surprising cunning in their search for prey, and in many cases have been recorded going through simple actions like opening doors or using elevators.

Finally, stage three strikes. Anywhere from 4 hours to a full week after infection, the carrier's body begins to break down. It's flesh erupts in a series of massive pustules, which swell as the rest of the body atrophies and wizens. These pustules erupt after a handful of hours, spraying clouds of spores containing the original virus into the air. This finally kills the carrier, and the disease cycle starts again.

The Moax is made particularly terrible in that it is unknown to the Galaxy at large, having only been used in a handful of secret tests. It is to be used in only the most extreme circumstances, and only a dozen warheads containing it exist. As a measure of it's secrecy and the Commonwealth's unwillingness to use it, it should be noted that even after the People's Republic of Corneria had used superlaser weapons on the Commonwealth capital worlds of Desjardins and Jacob's Landing, they still refused to use the weapon.
