Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange is an occultist with a pencil-thin mustache who regularly deals with weirdness and horror. Honestly, how could he look like anybody but Vincent Price?

Really, there ought to be a tale in which Doctor Strange vanquishes some demon by invoking the power of the Thriller.

I like Ariel's face, expression and hair, but her arms are kinda mannish and unwomanly in their formation along with her big hands. Aztec dude has a nifty expression on his face, though.

There's so amusingly jarring about seeing two uniformed 19th century British officers in the same image as Dagwood....

Re: Publius drawings (large)

In the end, it was just too painful to draw GMC(SEAL) Delgado wearing a white hat. At any rate, since Shipwreck's uniform is obviously World War II-era dungarees (complete with right arm rating badge), the khaki combination cap is more accurate. His SEAL pin and the location of his pistol holster are also modifications from his original design.

I agree with this, Publius. I really like your drawing style but you have a tendency to make all your characters kind of solid, which is mostly just right, just not for some characters.Shroom Man 777 wrote:I like Ariel's face, expression and hair, but her arms are kinda mannish and unwomanly in their formation along with her big hands. Also Shroom, that guy is an Inca (the Inca, in fact), not an Aztec

Re: Publius drawings (large)
Publius can do variations in forms just fine. It's just that this one, Ariel's bod really came out mannish. It might not have been a conscious thing, since most of his drawings are of dashing heroic manly manny manny man-men.
Hey, why don'tcha try drawing a lineup made out of hot chicks, and only hot chicks, Publius? A practice in the, ah, female form.

Re: Publius drawings (large)
Ariel's build was actually partially conscious and partially unconscious. Despite her appearance, she is not human, and mermaid sexual dimorphism is not necessarily identical. Also, despite her willowy build, she must naturally be rather more athletic than a human counterpart, as she spends the whole of her time swimming (the muscles in her hands would be more developed than a human girl's, since every movement is met by considerable resistance). For much the same reason, Namor, Namora, and Namorita were drawn with more muscular definition than usual, with somewhat thicker frames. On the other hand, Ariel is a young girl, and it is difficult to try to put bulk on her frame without it starting to lose the litheness of the actual cartoon. In the end, one can chalk it up to a learning experience (which was, after all, part of the point of the whole series).

I don't remember much of Monsters Inc, but I really find that cute petulant-looking little girl's head sticking out of a silly monster costume to be really cute. You're great with those facial expressions, Publius.
You know, without those captions I can't really figure out where half of those guys come from since I've often never even heard about those shows you take your characters from. I'm amazed at the sheer variety of characters you draw your drawings from. Man.

I like the maths on Hari Seldon. He can predict the demise of your civilization with a mere pocket calculator, which is an advanced form of technology from the far future!

I really like the lines and bags on Cotton's face and how they work with her expression and pose. It tells a lot just in those few light strokes.

I appreciate the way Judge Bank's is smiling with eyes seemingly on the verge of a hearty wink. He looks like he's about to tell a really non PC joke.

Hmmm, I don't suppose there's a Snoopy pic with the aviator helmet by any chance?
Urkel's glasses seem a bit bigger than on the show, but I think I like it better that way. It makes him slightly less obnoxious.
