Ok, that gives me another 40 pts to play with. I guess I'll spend them upgrading the existing fleet of battlecruisers by 5 pts each

Thoughts. I've just realized i have the highest ground army investment out of the two powers that invested in it.
Also my treaty interestingly enough does not preclude the use of Chamaran moral weaponry elsewhere. So there's nothing stopping me using mind control on my future conquests, least until the Syndicalists get snippy about it once more.

How the hell does one go about investing in a ground army, anyway? Just kind of toss points in there? Because it's simply not covered in the rules.

We kinda put it under improved assimilation as a placeholder for when the rules were fully worked out which they never were. weird aint it

And what prompted this realization? My deciding to tell a story about an army squad out of boredom?

I dunno, I always figured that there would be marine detatchments (or the equivalent) onboard your ships that were counted as part of it's value. If you want to invest points in dedicated ground combat forces, go ahead, but they should probably be bought as +b, as they have an excellent ability to fight over and hold ground, but there's no reason why they should pose a credible threat to any orbital units.

Yeah, Ambassador Bus-Stop Hobo is getting lonely

All ships have basic marines, all planets and stations have their own armies. And if you want to conquer a planet without bombing it back to the stoneage you're going to have to fight said armies due to the wonders of city/theater/fortress/planetary shields. Not sure how bombardment points in your ships and racial points in your military compare but then Bombardment was originally written as increased orbital support or blowing shit up quick.
Racial points arent extra forces, they're more potent existing forces. Probably in my case mostly due to the Chamaran obsession with giving every single soldier and vehicle they possess its own forcefield.

Darkevilme, unless you have something else for our faction's leaders to discuss our diplomacy should be about finished up now.
I am now quite ready for the start of turn 2!

Yeah we're done on that.
The Unassigned support cruiser squadron and a cruiser squadron from 1st fleet sound like a modest force to send? 240 points total.

Save for still needing to update my build orders/OOB and having semi-set up Varan to probably utterly fail at getting into Helen Take's proverbial pants (and possibly stir up some syndicalist intrest in Kraidnick Ind.) I am too. (I'll probably finish those first two things later this evening when I'm not house/dog/cat sitting anymore)

I'd just have whoever's on it show up at the function. There's nothing more annoying then STGOD diplomatic function threads containing pages and pages of "greetings I am Captain Flalborg, I have arrived from planet hatfuck and wish to dock, I have now docked - greetings!"

Yeah there is: Pages of "Hey, I didn't say you could do that! Your guy is shot on sight."
There's also the little matter of the fact that I'm waiting to see if my stealth frigate is detected in the system; it's a little more complex than just showing up. It's not going to actually do anything besides watch (it would get swatted if it did), but it could still be problematic if he somehow detects it.

So how long is this meeting, to which the Exodus was not invited, going to take in real time? for those of us waiting to entertain radical feminist guests and conquer the entire galaxy in turn two.

Bah, we can hold our own meeting, and not invite them! You still have the Bentusilon don't you? More then enough room for us al lto get together thir and hold a Wild Part-eh, I mean Meeting, yes highly important political meetings!

I have no idea how long it'll take. Frankly, these things work better when the players who want to make deals work them out OOC in PMs or something; this makes going through the motions of negotiation in the game threads much faster.

Honestly you guys are so suspicious. Just because the Dominatrixiat despises men, had a 'shoot if they move' policy regarding them, and has a barely habitable moon full of men, doesn't mean that they will ship them off to be eaten by aliens at the earliest opportunity. Particularly if doing such a thing would compromise their alien allies' uneasy truce with a fairly powerful human faction.
