I can never play New Vegas with a straight face again, Lag. Thanks a lot.

Since the entire game is played for laughs, I'm not sure how anyone could play it with a straight face anyway.

Why else does wild wasteland perk exist, but for in-joke easter egg hunting....

well early this morning I went from slow going to gaining ten levels in 8 hours of play on a new character, I finally made it to new vegas. Funny watching Cook-Cook getting hit by a crossfire of Mysterious Stranger, Boone, Ed & my just want to slow him down with a leg shot. (well that's a failed mission, bad robot)

Sad to say that AC: Broho has stolen me from FONV. This is a travesty - I should want to put 200 hours into Fallout. Hell, I've done it for every other game...I guess it didn't..."Grab" me like I thought it did. Oh well. Better luck next time, Bethsidian.

The snowglobes in NV don't even DO anything! What a waste of time.

They could have at least made the snowglobes worth more than a single game of caravan.

or purhaps allow folks with confirmed batchlore or black widow the Marc Antony/Cleopatra option and seduce Caesar....

New patch is out on the 360. All the energy weapon types now negate a decent amount of DT, and the amount of ammo per shot is reduced for some weapons, making energy weapons even more hilariously unbalanced.

The changelog is pretty fun though.

I love shit like that. 'We gave the energy weapons lower DT to fix the massive imba they were in F3' <people complain> 'we put them right back and they're now massively imba, what do you mean 'game design?'

Maybe I should rent it again, see if I'm not locked out of the central game location anymore.

I wonder if they actually fixed the massive slowdown the 360 got. (Doubtful.)

I'm trying to decide between the NCR, Mr. House or myself. Caesar is a fucking hypocrite with his 'no learning from the old world, we should all start new', when his entire empire is based on the old world and the only reason his empire is a success is because he was brought up by the Followers.

Actually, the Followers and the Kings are my favorite factions. The Followers because they seem like the nicest people in the game and could bring the world to a better place with their emphasis on educating everyone. The Kings because I am huge Elvis fan.

The biggest problem I have is if I choose to go any farther right now, the other Main factions turn against me, so I'm just finishing up as many side quests as possible before I decide to screw some faction over.

Well, if you like the Followers and the Kings, you probably want to either go with House or take over yourself, since I seem to recall that an independant Vegas gives the most latitude to the factions in and around it.

Anyone tried the DLC yet, and is it any good? I beat the original campaign and had originally intended to play through again as a melee or unarmed character for a little more challenge -- and take a different path through -- but I haven't quite convinced myself to put up with the constant crashes again.

That's... really not what Caesar says. He never says anything about "not learning from the old world" (in fact, several times he says how much about empire-building you can learn from books). What he objects to is how the NCR is copying itself off of the old American government and society, and thereby dooming itself to all the same problems.

This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but it sounds like you're playing it on PC, in which case you'll have to wait anyway, since the DLC is console-exclusive for the time being.

Dead Money is lots of wandering around identical brown corridors, forced stealth sections, and jumping puzzles. Avoid it.

Yeah I was playing it on PC. I hadn't paid much attention to the DLC, and I'd assumed it'd be out for PC at the same time or prior to consoles. From the sound of things I'll avoid it.

The Kings end up getting killed if you go with House.

The DLC was basically textbook Obsidian in the vein of Alpha Protocol; great atmosphere and writing but utterly shit execution. OH WELL.

True, he also compared it to the Roman Republic, waiting to be conquered. He also heavily dislikes technology and thinks that it takes away from the strength of men, while he himself has a medical machine next to his cot. Something tells me he doesn't practice what he preaches.

As I recall, he mentions that he uses it on some of his minions, or will use it on you if you want it as a reward. So it seems like a tool for him to maintain control.
