We controlled the second half completely until after we scored. Then our players looked increasingly tired and the game was played evenly through the rest of the second half. Finally, Ghana regained control of the match and had the much stronger play in extra time.

You're lucky. I only got to glance at the second half once, because I got stuck going to a cousin's rugby game.

That's kinda funny, considering the Football Vs Football arguments going on... you get stuck at rugby.

I only watched from after the tie, I managed to sleep in too late to catch the start. Ghana's goal was beautiful and the wailing of the Americans (and the vuvuzela chorus) was music to my ears.

Hey we played a good World Cup, this stuff kind of got me into soccer a bit more, I might actually keep tabs on some teams between now and the next world cup, so I can go into detail about why the U.S.A. shits on England (Germany is gonna fuck you up, I will fucking wank to that shit).

Should be a good game, Mexico have been absolutely fantastic for 2/3rds of the pitch, they just seem to lack a cutting edge, but thankfully the Argie's back four are suspect. I expect a nice close knife fight in midfield and then some thrilling stuff.

Thanks... That's been Mexico's curse for as long as I can remember (and I'm 36... and I've read and heard the recounts of all the legendary failures). Failing to "define". Failing to make the final goals that count. Failing at penalty shots, when they're what matter the most.

Some have chalked it up to a very Mexican point of view. "We can't beat the Germans!" even though we were practically mopping the floor with them back in 86. And when it counts, we always seem to falter due to a "Why? This can't be! We're beating the -insert here: Germans, Argentinians, Brazilians, etc... "-factor; and then we start to fail, and I mean EPIC fail. It must be that dreaded Malinchism rearing its ugly head on us...!
