The mothership-submarine Yer Mom continues its constant surveillance mission near Syndromian waters by providing UCAV reconnaissance to Allied APCS forces. At the same time, Shroomanian forces also offer air support for any Allied operation. [OOC: Guys, I have a good pic of A-10s wasting some schmoes by the beachside!]

The Republic graciously accepts the offer. The helicopter will make a stop over on the RNV "Swiftsure" to refuel and pick up a liaison officer, and then proceed to the Viscount, where the GROM platoon can get a better look at the situation.

Both Republican frigates have been placed under control of the local Vanaheim commander for this operation.

A frigate bearing the markings of the Lincolnian Union was recently seen in the waters west of Syndromia engaging in a patrol in force. The Lincolnian Prime Minister could not be reached for comment, though the Foreign Minister said that the patrol "was deemed necessary in order to maintain national security."

Though situated less than 200 miles away at its closest point, the Lincolnian Union did not get involved in the brief war that resulted in Syndromia's occupation by a coalition of forces from across the globe and, with the exception of a trade agreement with Zablonia, has generally seemed to avoid the international spotlight entirely.

The Lincolnian Union's stated purpose of the patrol was "concern over rumors that Syndromian rebels were attempting to acquire Lincolnian-made arms illegally."

Threat Condition Levels affect only security procedures with regard to military assets at home and abroad.

Military analysts speculate this announcement is in response to the President's public condemnation and statement regarding the Shadow Empire's terrorist actions. According to many, this is seen as only a prudent move by the Defense Ministry, as the Shadow Empire has been known to launch terrorist operations at only the slightest of provocations and ill-defined rumors in the past.

Emperor Shady would like to personally assure The Shinra Republic that the Shadow Empire is not a threat to peace.

In other news, the Shinra Republic Navy has issued a press release stating that a carrier battlegroup has begun exercises in international waters some 65 miles off the Northeast coast of the Republic. They hasten to add that any proximity this OP AREA may have to the Shadow Empire is purely coincidental.

Due to this disturbing news, Emperor Shady has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all imperial forces from their peacekeeping mission in Syndromia.

The Shadow Empire would like to once again inform all nations of the world that its recent actions in the Mankan Republic were done for the greater good of all our people. The Emperor assures all nations of our great world that such actions will not happen again without the approval of the international community.

Mangka TV News Flash

President Y.J. Ma has stated in a press release emphasizing that there is no biological weapons program being carried out in the Republic of Mangka. He re-emphasized that the 3 facilities which suffered from an attack from the Shadow Empire are pharmaceutical plants affiliated to well known biomedical companies.

"These facilities have passed inspection by MESS officials earlier this year." Ma said. "What raises my concern is that we, being a rising nation in the biomedical industry are being suppressed for unknown reasons. Despite these considerations, we welcome examination of biological warfare from any international community."

President Ma also urged the Mangka based pharmaceutical as well as semiconductor companies to withdraw their products from the Shadow Empire. Experts are still estimating the results of such a withdrawal.

The Secretary General and the Supreme Council are relieved to hear that the Republic of Mangka allows for weapon inspectors to arrive.

A plane carrying inspectors has been dispatched.

We would also inquire the Shadow Empire to publicly release at least some of it's intel which led to the strikes. We understand that intel is hard to obtain and it's also hard to public without blowing the undercover agents, but if any hints as to the nature of MangKa biological progamme could be released, those are welcome.

The Shinra Republic would like to assure the Red Technocracy that it has no hostile intentions against any member of the OMSK Pact. Further we would like to assure the Fungal Axis that we do not practice unilateral aggression. We appreciate the assurances of the Shadow Empire that such actions as has caused this tension will not occur in the future. However, given that such assurances have been made before and disregarded, we would ask for the Fungal Axis to try and quell the ambitions of one of its member states. We will not tolerate state-sponsored terrorism against our allies.

In other news, the Carrier Battle Group has been redeployed to the waters around the Republic of Mangka to participate in joint-MESS naval excersizes.

Shadow Empire announcement:

On request from the international community we shall reveal the following information on the recent operations of shadow spies in the Republic of Mangka:

Shadow spies had at first uncovered evidence of several facility's suspected of producing biological weapons.


Those facilities were then infiltrated by shadow operatives, who managed to take a picture of the operation.

After that, they managed to steal a microscopic picture of the suspected biological weapons.


In light of this evidence the emperor decided that action must be taken in order to prevent the use of these weapons against the international community. He now realizes that his rash actions were not the appropriate response to the situation, and that he should have alerted his allies and other nations of the threat.The Emperor is eagerly awaiting the results of the inspection sent to the Republic of Mangka, and hopes that this crisis can be resolved peacefully.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Qudlivun Free State has announced no such thing.

In addition, the Ministry of Defense has obtained parliamentary approval for the purchase of additional patrol craft as well as the possible purchase of a frigate or destroyer (pending a formal bidding process). Funding will be provided by a special appropriations bill. The decision hinged on the relative isolation of the Qudlivun Free State's claimed territory in regards to its neighbors and the need to be able to respond to vessels in distress near the isolated territory.

The above map is of the Principality of Tongdijuana ((OOC: SPC Brungardt's nation)), a small nation just to the northwest of the Shinra Republic. It is roughly 35,000 sqkm. This release has been made on the behalf of the Principality by the Shinra Republic Information Ministry.

The dark gray area is the main urban core of Tongdijuana City, capital and sole city of the small island. The light gray area is the suburban fringes of the City. The rest of the island is composed of rural farmland and other "natural" terrain.

The Palo Duro Strike Group left the base at Corpus Christi today on a "goodwill" tour of M.E.S.S. member states. Before arriving at the Mangka Republic, Texan naval forces will be participating in CROSSHAIRS '08, a M.E.S.S.-wide naval exercise off the coast of the United Kingdom of Blackadder. CNO Saldana assured reportors at a press conference that the exercise is peaceful, and 'Were we to launch a pre-emptive strike we'd sure as Hell use more than one carrier group'.

International tensions are especially high, as several nations have deployed naval forces to the Central Sea, where most of the smaller nations are located. One Texan vessel, the L.R.S. Arlen is already in the area performing routine M.E.S.S. Maritime Interdiction Operations. Earlier this week several people who were citizens of the OMSK Pact were caught snooping around Midland Missile range, where the Lone Star government is allegedly drilling a 'Big ass hole' 300 km deep.
