I have finally got my OOB posted. So, I just need a spot. Put me out in the middle of nowhere, outside the great waste, a place where I could have been ignored for a very long time.

Just for asking, since I can't find it in the OOB's, what exactly is the Eastern trading rim(whatever the exact name is)?

Is it like a grand Free Trade group? Which sounds like something that fits my empire well.

It was created in game, if you look about 5 pages back. It's Thirdfain's little pet project, although I forget who else is in it at the moment.

I think someone said we can clear the purple lanes from deep damage, but it requires alot of ships to clear it out.

I didn't follow Bab5 closely enough to know - what makes a hyperlane?

A hyperlane is a SW convention, not a Bab5 one. However, for the purposes of STGOD, I guess we consider a hyperlane to be an area clear for most forms of FTL drives.

Since a hyperlane is simply a mathematical route through hyperspace in a region, all you need to do is explore an area of hyperspace until you find the fastest route between points A and B. Once you find that route, you can put it on the charts and start patrolling it. That's when it becomes a regular hyperlane.

You could also attempt to clear / re-chart one of the old (red) hyperlanes. However, those have often had supernovae or other obstructions placed in the way, meaning that re-charting them will have to be done from scratch. And that takes time.

Also, are the named systems, like Ain-Tiar, which are in the center of a hyperspace junction, like defended with stuff, or are just historical points of interest?

Both. Some of them still have operable defenses (XHJ-178 is a good example) and are places that you just don't want to get too close to. Others have been burned out so thoroughly that they're just lumps of carbon now, not even worth going to for minerals. Nobody really knows what category an old major system falls into until they go there.

I believe that was decided back in ASVS STGOD/STGOD2

That would be up to the game moderators. I've been the ASVS STGOD compiler/maintainer for a few years now so I'm pretty familiar with the histories of those worlds, you could probably ask me OOC in most cases. But if you want to claim such a system or something I'd ask whoever's moderating.

Absolutely nothing is stopping you. Just make an IC post explaining it (mind you, charting a hyperlane isn't like dusting crops, boy ;) ) and I'll add it to the map.

Well I've never dusted crops- but it's not *too* long of a distance, some long range probes could do the job, pretty easily ;)

There might be some derelict planetoids left over from the Royal Atlantean Navy, I'm not particularly sure. Go ahead and give it a shot, but look out for moons with a 4000km diameter.

Well, it was a former Eldar homeworld in the Boyd Collective. (WH40k Eldar, the one and the same.) I'd be willing to bet that there's raw chaos magic all over the place from the collapse of the Collective. You know, random mutations, unspeakable evil, that sort of thing that you don't want your kids going near. It'll probably dissipate after a few thousand years, but it's only been about two hundred fifty or so.

The planet was also heavily devestated (like all other important Boyd worlds) by all means of heavy weaponry.

Hey, I started the long process of mapping a space lane from my territory to one of the other lanes. Basiclly I am mapping it so only my ships now about it. And I dont want to have them making a lot of jumps to get to where ever they are going.
