Yes, but I'm only lumping in the people fighting over Malks with the peanut gallery.

Course, my own idea involved a very OCD Malkavian who compulsively fixed some things that appeared to be out of place, but left others completely alone all according to his own little pattern. Otherwise he'd be completely normal seeming, besides his occasional tendencies to fly into a violent rage over stuff that makes absolutely no sense to most vampires around him. (Naturally, he thinks he's perfectly normal). But since there's so many vying for the Malk spot already. . . .

Well as far as I can tell

1) I'm storyteller by default because no one else will do the job.

2) People want to play a Camarilla centered campaign

3) A lot of people want to be Malkavians.

All Malkavian game! Do that creepy hivemind thing they do. Drive your GM even crazier than your characters. Fail to accomplish anything because you keep tripping over each other's derangements.
Or not.

I'd offer to ST, but I'm more familiar with the Werewolf rules.

Believe me, you do NOT want to run into a Garou I'm playing/running. I play by 2nd Ed, where a Ragabash can tear apart an Ancille within three rounds.

Looks like it. I'd be technically willing, but I've been exactly that happen to me for the past many years in my group, so I'd much prefer to be a player here.
2) People want to play a Camarilla centered campaign
There's any other kind? To be fair, it's what most people are familiar with. If we decide to play something more obscure, we'll get issues with people botching the fluff.
3) A lot of people want to be Malkavians.
Yeah... I hope we don't get more than one or two by launch though; they can be interesting, but too many almost guaruntees the campaign going wonky. That being said, I wanna play a Toreador! A weird and disturbed Toreador, but a Toreador nonetheless. (The inspiration for the particular concept hit me earlier today and has had me smug since.) I take it anything too weird or rare is out, of course. Lasombra antitribu, Kuei Jin and the lot.

Considering the success I've had running and playing in a Sabbat campaign (The Dude's handiwork for one of them), I can say yes there are other kinds. Not that I have a problem running Camarilla campaigns (I've spent more time doing that than any other kind of Vampire) but Sabbat ones are viable.

Kuei Jin aren't really suited to a regular vampire campaign anyways. They're best off as either stand alones, antagonists or an occasional rare shadowy npc.

See! You feel my pain. Although just hearing that makes me guilt enough to offer to help in any way you might need. Players suck.

Mostly I was being snarky. I should learn to use smilies more often.

That said, the only Sabbat campaign I've seen first hand quickly degenerated into an excuse to make combat-monster vampires and abuse the resources background. Although that sounds like it's more fault of the persons than the Sabbat itself; obviously, since you've had more success with it. Camarilla takes up the bulk of my experience likewise, although I'll probably have to refamiliarise myself anyway; it's been ages since I've done anything in the WoD. I got rather disenchanted after they started releasing the new iteration of the fluff and mechanics, and have mainly been working in my own worlds since.

To sideline a bit, no one had much in the way of Resources in the Sabbat games I've been in/run. They've been more combat heavy than Camarilla ones, but there's been lots of fun agonizing and conflict with players aligning with different political/philosophical factions and sub groups as well as competing for general status and trying to get out from under for favors owed.

My personal belief has always been: If you want combat, play D&D; If you want character interaction, play WW.

I'll leave the Malkavian to the person who called it first. Truth be told, the only reason I felt like playing the character I pitched is because it is a Vampire version of this...interesting Mage character I had. The random shit he would say was sometimes treated as a form of Dementation when used against other players (or the GM), particularly if he threw his Mind spheres behind it.

That being said, I'll just have to call dibs on the Nos.

What is this dibs shit? There isn't a magic rule in Vampire that you can only have one character from any given clan.

besides don't Gangrels run in packs. <jk>, ok the sabbat ones do....

why differnt clans purchase the eat food background

Brujah: B33r!
Gangrel: fresh rabbit
Tremere: it was needed for the rituals I swear
Toreodore: We like to pretend we're humans
Nos: You really don't want to know.

Ehem, two posts above this one shows that I was already having my Tremere, so... :)
Though why any game shouldn't have two of any clan is above me...

I guess that means I can't use the last character I made for one of these. Though, he wasn't really an antitribu but a mole waiting to fuck the rest of the players (and the rest of the city) when the best time came.

Personally, if allowed to participate, I'm pondering something moderately bizarre, say a Ventrue street gang leader(who's doubtless on several watchlists because his personal philosophy runs a little too close to the ideals espoused by the Ventrue antitribu). Exact position in the city hierarchy will depend on the level of vampires in play, and the city in question, and could range from disposable hired gun to the sheriff on up to being the sheriff.

Okay, assuming I'm GM stuff is beginning to gel.

1) Yes, you can play Tremere, Lasombra antitribu, Malkavians, and wierd Ventrue. You are, however, accountable for your character choices. The clan will be watching, and ordering around Tremere. I will dissallow silly Malkavians, wierd Ventrue better have a background that makes sense and Lasombra antritribu will have sires with very high standards.

2) How game mechanicky do we want to make it? Game mechanic light worked well in the Librium game and does allow for faster play, but I can understand a desire to hang onto concrete numbers.

Ok, so we seem to have some interest in a game. That is good.
But what about general things like settings, story and the like?

Personally I'm a fan of limiting mechanics to combat and technical feats, while simply letting social abilities represent how you should act IC without necessarily needing rolls for that.

That said, should we wait until there's some type of setting layout before the game starts so things are a bit more cohesive and not quite so randomized in character creation?
