Nah HSTRG, you can still play, but send out incoherent and prickish messages like, "Would you things that do not exist please stop broadcasting in the open? It's really hard having to actively deny your existence and we would appreciate if you all went back to being the fevered dreaming of frothing heretics. Good day."

Chatter. At first quiet and isolated, now building into a near deafening crescendo. What was Food, gradually building to Food/Threat, and then resolving into multiple distinct Food/Threats. Many of which are strangely centered around an otherwise unremarkable yellow star. Curious.

If there's anybody who would like to ally closely with a race of parasites or shapeshifters, tell me. I'm not sure whether I'll go parasites or shapeshifters or even whether that'll be allowed. The key thing I'm looking for is a race who in their history would've "uplifted" my race, so I got my technology and spaceships and perhaps even civilization primarily through outside intervention. If there's anybody out there who this would be compatible with, contact me. I intend to spend most of my points on external security, a fleet of hundreds of extremely fast long-ranged craft, and perhaps one or two cruisers which would've been produced with non-native technology. No battleships.
If you're still on with the Yeerk idea, I've got a race of amoral space-squid in the works who would, in character, jump at the opportunity to closely ally with another species, going so far as to provide hosts from one of their empire's member-races.

Those attempting to hail the Wanderers with intent of alliance or mutual defense will find only silence. Persistance is warned against once, then computers and people return as vegetables, their brains fried. The Wanderers have issues with trust and 'Honest, we'll help each other'.
