Do you have to score silent assassin in order to actually be able to upgrade your weapons?
If so. BLAH!

If you want to upgrade them all, yes. Save yourself some money though, and don't upgrade them until all the upgrades are unlocked. You can save money that way by ignoring the upgrades that get replaced later on (ie just go straight for the improved silencers).

Or play early missions a few times in different stealthy ways, and use discretion when deciding which upgrades to get.

Damn it, I managed to achieve "The Ghost" in the Informant case; only two kills with violence, the woman and the informant; plus two FBI agents dead in the van from poisoned donuts; YET I don't get the chance to upgrade my weapons? the hell?

Yeah, seriously what the hell's going on there? I upgraded my ballers for sneakiness for the first proper mission.

What do you mean? It costs money, dude. If you do badly in a mission and get a crap reward, do it again and get a better one.
And why did you kill the FBI agents? Just put the sedative in the donuts.
That mission is one of easiest Silent Assassin rating missions ever.

Note - in all except two missions, you don't need to bring any guns whatsoever. I mean, at all. The only gun you really need is the WA2000 for the casino mission, and you can use it again for the White House (you can use silenced ballers with scopes though too).
There should be no issue with upgrading the guns you really need to bring along, even if you don't get SA for everything, like me.

I can't even upgrade them past low velocity ammo!
The other options are greyed out!

They unlock later in the game.

Stupid Retarded son of a bitch UI design. If I simply hit the Left and Right arrow keys, I get to move and buy new things.

I noticed that just by looking at your screenshot.
How did you make the screenshot of the newspaper?

You don't need the sniper rifle for the casino mission. You can strangle the scientist in the elevator, and then sneak a mine into the DNA briefcase. Blow up both the supremacist and the sheik when they meet.
You can also blow up the VP and the assassin in the White House mission. Stick a mine by the window where they talk. Boom. Just have to make sure a sneaky USSS agent doesn't take off with the mine while you're waiting for them to get together.

I try and avoid mines- loud, messy, attract a lot of attention - all the security running around makes me nervous. By using the sniper rifle in the casino mission, the body of the sheik never gets found. And there's something cool about setting off the fire alarm, getting into the scientists room, ringing the phone, getting the shiek to come out, and then capping him from the balcony with a silenced rifle
That said, I might try that - how do you know when the shiek can be blown up?

You just have to wait in the bar outside their private area, and watch for the briefcase to be brought in. Careful judgement and observation, in other words.
However, for the mission, I prefered a much more silent sets of tactics. Lots of strangulation, in other words. Strangle the supremacist in the elevator, take his clothes, take his shit ... visit the Shiek, endure him talking about how large the casino is, follow him out to the balcony, strangle him ... take the diamonds, hide them in elevator with suit, pull fire alarm, hide in scientist's bathroom, strangle scientist ... sedate bodyguard in loungeroom, take suit, walk out of room, get in elevator, get your own suit, take diamonds, leave.
It's not a short method, however.

The fire alarm? Pfft. Real men sneak around the ledge of the eighth floor, and throw the guard in the scientist's room over the balcony. It's an accident, and you have all the time in the world to set up your shot on the Sheik.

I've tried that method too.
You can just wait in the bar until the supremacist goes in. You can be changed, and carrying around the diamonds at that point. Walk away, then trigger the detonator, and make your escape in the confusion. They don't go anywhere if they can't reach the scientist (because you strangled him earlier).

I always used mines in the Casino mission. Or I garotted the scientist in the lift from up in the ceiling. If you time it right, he just disappears while the guards aren't looking and they go apeshit when they realise he's just disappeared from the lift they are all standing in.

I must be a total ninja. I've never even seen an indentikit sketch in Blood Money.
Then again, once it goes to hell I make sure that EVERYONE dies. No witnesses. Anywhere. I just did the wedding mission and thanked god that I'd stashed my M4 w/CMAG where the drunk dude is sleeping because it went to hell and I had a lot of unhappy pursuers who I thankfully could fill full of 5.56mm

Nor have I. I tend to be as sneaky as possible.
M4 w/CMAG
This is the ultimate fuck you, the M4 with the CMAG. nothing on this earth can stop you.
Also, a question: during the mission to Heaven and Hell, is there any possible way to get to the getaway vehicle in 47's suit? It was the only mission I did where I did not collect it, because I couldn't walk into the carpark without a costume.

I'm not sure you can, as you need to walk past the elevator guards in order to do it.

Nope. Check the wall next to one of the elevators. There's a door. You don't need to walk past the guards at all in the mission if you don't want to, IIRC.

I always found it odd that they could tell just from finding .45ACP brass that Silverballers were used, and not only that, CUSTOMIZED ZOMG ones.

The ammo is custom-made, too. I'd think a professional assassing would use common stuff, since it can't be traced easily, but hey.
Also, does anybody else think that getting a completely false memory portrait should actually be more beneficial than not getting one at all? After all, if all the security guys are looking for a completely different man, the going actually gets easier
