I'd do a bunch of shit I've always been too afraid to do for fear of death. You know, like riding rollercoasters. I'd probably try a bunch of drugs once just to see what it's like. The life insurance is a good idea. I'd try to make sure that my pets would get taken care of. And I'd make sure that either way the roll goes, I get to kick Q right smack in the runts as hard as I fucking could. I'd limit stuff though, because of that 1/6 chance of living. I'd definately streak a church wearing a Bush mask, though.

You seem like a decent guy. I'm sure that if you had children of your own, it would have been one of the first things that popped into your mind.

I'd probably go buck-wild with the life-insurance policies, too. I don't have kids, but my wife, despite being a working woman and having a good career, could certainly use the cash. If I survive, shit, they're probably a good thing to have, anyway.
Aside from that, I'd quit my job and convince my wife to do the same. We'd travel to various world locales, seeing all those places that we're planning to do, anyway. We don't carry any debt right now, anyway, so even if I survived, we wouldn't be too bad off. Even with $50K of debt, we're both in high-demand, economically speaking. We'd have jobs before a few weeks had gone by.
That, and hopefully anal. If "I'm probably gonna be dead in a month" doesn't work, nothing will.

I already have life insurance, but huge amounts of life insurance cost a lot of money in terms of premiums. You'd want to scale back if you survive.

I omitted sexual fantasies from my list, but when I think about it, I don't know if I really have any unfulfilled ones any more.

I wonder about whether the life insurance thing will work. I mean, if you take out a huge life insurance policy and then suddenly drop dead in under a month, the insurance company, I would think, would fight that tooth and nail as something like you had pre-existing condition that you didn't report or some sort of suicide. I mean, you have to admit, it looks pretty suspicious.
As for the OP, to be honest, I don't know what I'd do differently except be sure to tell my girlfriend that I love her. I have a five in six chance of dying and there is nothing I can do about it, so why worry? I would insist, I think, on going out to Red Lobster though. I'd like the Admiral's Feast.

That would probably depend exactly on how you got killed, I'd imagine. If you suddenly went poof and dropped dead, with no obvious medical cause or explanation they'll be pretty hard pressed to pinpoint that as your fault short of outright lying.

No, you revealed that you have the ethics of a cockroach.
(I don't know how I missed this little gem). Be fair here, you're insulting the cockroach. They at least place their own survival as paramount given their ability to adapt. If this little shitbrick went through with half of what he proposed he'd be facing multiple life-sentences if not death row, assuming Q's dice roll let him live. Wheras cockroaches are generally smart enough to avoid suicidal activity.

I like the life insurance...something I didn't think about (but then again, I don't have any kids).
To answer the OP: For the most part, I have already prepared for that situation. That being said, I would make arrangements to others to replace me if need be. If the "6" comes up, then I'll just continue on with more free time (because I've got replacements to fill in for me). Although I would like to not be replaced in the area of employment (I'm sure I could work something out).
Two questions about the question (trying to better define the situation):
1) Who gets to select the rolled die? Me or Q? [I've got some "cheat" dice that I could rig to roll "6" all the time, thus increasing my chances to live. And if I get to pick the die, I'll make sure I've got one that'll roll "6" all the time. Of course that would kind of negate the purpose of this discussion.]
2) How I die? If it will look like a suicide, then life insurance would be pretty much pointless.

Okay don't take everything I say so seriously. I'm more talk than action. Yeah, I'm the type of guy who would kill someone. (I hope you caught the sarcasm)

Since you have probably never had reason to research life insurance, you probably aren't aware of this, but the life insurance business is very heavily regulated, precisely because the consequences of typical auto insurance screwballing in this case would be so catastrophic to a grieving and possibly destitute widow and children. The burden of proof is legally upon them; they have to prove that you
did commit suicide or have an unreported health condition. Your widow does not have to prove that you didn't.

This is off topic as far as the OP goes, but...why the negative attitude towards school? I know Elite Pwnage has been singled out here (with good reason), but I've heard similar sentiments all the time. Even the Alice Cooper song says "school's been blown to pieces." What's especially weird is that anyone could ditch classes--but for some reason, it's always an attack on the school or teachers, which wouldn't even solve the problem. You'd just be sent to another school, and it'd probably be a downgrade.
As far as the OP goes, I neglected one of the most important things I'd do: make a list of 15 classic novels I'd never read, and read them. And dine very, very expensively while I do so.

I take it you've missed all the news articles over the last few years about kids getting paid a visit by the Secret Service and having their names put on some permanent record for making lyrics that were perceived as potentially threatening to the President? Just as one batshit insane example.

First and foremost I would do the life insurance thing so my wife, rats, and dog will be well set if I pass on. Past that I would splurge on items that me and my wife would both enjoy (no point getting crap that only I would enjoy as it wouldn't really do me much good if I do end up dead.) I would probably also eat more good food, drink more good drink, have more good sex, and try to live up (within reason) the time I have left. Yes, I know the OP states that I have a 1/6 chance of survival, but I'd rather make the assumption that 5/6 will prevail as all the things I'd want to do leave me quiet capable of stepping back into my life if I survive with only a month or two of extra work required to put myself back to where I was at before the fiasco with omni-potent being of choice.

I've read the news. The specifically anti-school sentiment has just always seemed strange to me. "They try to teach me something, grrr, it fills me with such angst that I want to blow the damn place up!" What gives?
Edit: I just realized you might have misread my post into saying that the anti-"anti-school" sentiment--the singling out of Elite Pwnage, for example...was what I don't understand. I understand that perfectly. I'm just curious why teenagers have that anti-school sentiment to begin with.

Oh, it's pretty simple really. They don't want to be in school and want to be doing something else. They think their teachers are idiots for telling them they're wrong or what they're doing is "bad". Etc. Typical idiot teenager rebelliousness.

Oh this is easy. I spend the next few months of my life just writing and trying to create an excellent novel whilst living at home off of my finances and enjoying my life. On the 1/6 chance that I live, well, let's just say I go back to work but hopefully the time spent writing will have paid off and I make money anyway. I have no children, and any worldy posessions I have can be deeded to whomever deserves them at whim at some point. When you factor in my rotten luck, it might as well be a 1/600 chance of me getting that saving throw, so I won't plan too hard to wondering what to do afterwards.

I have to disagree with this. I think the kids that Funnyname is thinking of aren't pissed off at the teachers and the school itself, but the social setting that it forces them into, not being accepted by the "mainstream" of the other kids.
Kids that don't want to be there, aren't.
It's the kids that DO want to be there but aren't accepted for whatever reason that end up like Elite Pwnage, who want to blow, the place and other students, up.

One of the things I would do is to tell my boyfriend to love again. His happiness is paramount to me. And I would charge his best friend with the task of ensuring that his grief doesn't consume him.

Take my girlfriend to Europe. She was there for a month during a college exchange trip, but this time I won't have her living with the host family with the annoying child, nor wasting time with the silly classwork.

We'd see all the places she wants to see and do all the things she never got to do the first time around. I'd also try to squeeze in at least a week in Hawaii and do one of those dolphin swimming trips for her, go to see a volcano, stay at a beachside resort and use our imaginations.
Life insurance, of course, with various beneficiaries.
If I knew I might have a good chance of dying, I don't think I would propose to her and get married. I don't want to leave her a widow at such a young age. It seems heartbreakingly cruel, knowing I probably wouldn't survive.

I'd get some sperm frozen, I may be statistically veead but I really want kids and the security of knowing that would still be possible after I die would probably make the whole situation a bit easier to take.
I wouldn't bother with getting married and I wouldn't quite my job. I would however attempt to take some personal leave as the date gets close in order to spend as much time with my loved ones.
I have no need for any life insurance premiums I have no dependencies and my girlfriend wouldn't be totally screwed over if I do die, she hasn't finished university yet and has plenty of time to meet someone new. I'd make it clear that I want her to find someone new.

I can't decide if I would tell her or not that there was a good chance I'd be gone in a month. Right now, probably not. I wouldn't want that horrible little detail to be looming over a time when we should be enjoying each other's company and having fun.

That's rather selfish of you. Don't you think she has a right to know?
