The only time I played assault my team would not give chase once the enemy was behind our lines. A small group of bradleys and infantry took all points.

Who thought 3 support and 2 air and 3 infantry was good for assault?

Usually the idiot teams who cant manage to take even the first point just cant wrap their heads around the idea of combined arms. The team members will try to do a smash & grab, usually alone, and end up getting spanked when they either lack AA, Armor or Air Support. Some people just dont get it, that it is NOT a good idea to try and take an assault point with only heavy armor when there are those nasty looking Heavy attack choppers buzzing around.
Speaking of choppers though, some Air players still seem to think that if they have enough heavy attack choppers, then it's a good idea to try and take out 4 heavy aa's with repair tank support. Six times I took out a full flight of heavy choppers when someone on the other side just didnt seem to get it. I could've perhaps understood his motivation if there had been a big column of tanks and/or artillery with me, but no.

Van's first foray into the multiplayer revealed the following:
-Infantry go smash very fast, regardless of extenuating circumstances
-Stupid support guys are fun.
"I say, Bertram, let us drive this column of heavy AA towards this forest without support. This plan cannot fail.
Fie! Rockets from beyond!"
Needless to say, the tank column they were screening then ate chopper.
-Assault mode hurts us.
-Paras are helluva funny when dropped behind enemy artillery.

The worst part is I came in 5 minutes in, got 2nd score on my team (uselessly shelling the point constantly is a good point source apparently) but my choppers were everwhere, killing shit all over the place. I took out some of their arty, called a ground attack, and naplamed their infantry defences... nothing happened. They actually WENT BACK TO SHELLING THE NOW-EMPTY POINTS, making it impossible to capture them!
Also, the 'heavy AA attack squad' is so VERY common. I've seen people try to counter a charge by heavy AA... using their heavy AA. It's absurd when people honestly try ground assaults using these vehicles. But then, when 50% of a team is heavy AA and you change to armour and rape them all... well that's funny.

Quite true. It always spawns a light chuckle out of me when my wedge of tanks meets that Heavy AA attack squad, which then curtly begins high-tailing it the hell out of there. A task in which they usually fail, those HEAT rounds are a bitch
The best ground attack experience I've thus far had when I managed with three badly beaten heavy tanks to wage through the fire thrown down on me by a squadron of Heavy Attack Heli's, in the process blowing up 8 Heavy AA's, 3 Repair Tanks, 3 Heavy Artillery Pieces and a column of IFV's to boot. The problem was that the enemy support player playing arty began quickly complaining that I had to be cheating to have found where his heavy arty pieces where. He didnt seem to grasp that its possible to zero in on them by sound and looking at roughly where the shells come from.
And the "shell the empty assault point to death" tactic seems quite common everywhere. It is especially annoying in Bridge where there is absolutely no way to proceed past that middle point if some idiot is seriously throwing shells down on it.

It's funny how many people try to jeep rush as well.
Congradulations, not only did my heavy tanks just bitchslap your advancing jeeps, they're also going to take the point you attacked first as well.
Jeep rushers also show a degree of selfishness, wanting to just get their TA ASAP rather than waiting a few more seconds and maximising the amount of TA the team gets.

The 4 repair vehicle + 2 heavy AA vehicles is to powerfull if you ask me. All you have to do is to team up with a tanker and you'll get an insane amount of TA.

Find me a repair/HAA guy who teams up with ANYONE. All I ever see is them running around by themselves or attempting to take points by themselves. For all the 6-repair squads I see, I still win repair with my one humvee...
Frankly, saying 'x build is too powerful if you team up with someone' goes for pretty much everything ever. The predominace of HAA (which can't do anything but shoot choppers and play with it's dick) is an amusing waste of resources on most maps, because the HAA guys run around like retards trying to HUNT choppers instead of waiting where they're likely to GO.

Anyone else notice in singleplayer that if you go back to beat a mission you played before, it freaking then limits you to playing the next mission even though you already won the next several missions? I went back from mission 12 to mission 6 to play it on hard, and then I had to replay all the fucking missions inbetween. God damn annoying to say the least.

Hmmm, this WiC sounds interesting. Must look into it some more.
EDIT: How's the physics in this game? Company of Heroes has spoiled me in that regard so I must ask.

Reveal your Massgate ID immediately!

I've run into a common install problem, where the game installer "forgets" to copy several files needed to run the game - copying them manually.
Haven't even got a MassgateID yet ... (I assume that's for playing the game online)?

The problem is that I get much more points that way - compared to the tanker I am escorting. Even if he does most of the fighting and captures nearly all waypoints.

Repairing does get you heaps of points, but you're not really contributing a huge amount unless you're in extreme danger. If someone wanted you dead, you'd be dead, and you can't stop any assault yourself. At least the repair trucks are good for fortifying, which is another 'free' source of points and TA. And again, I've seen so many awesome squads of repairs just wandering around doing nothing until they get wiped out to worry too much.
I guess my only complaint would be that repair trucks (indeed, light armour in general) have WAY too many hitpoints. It's absurd how much firepower it takes to kill a recovery vehicle or UAZ.
Vympel, I'm Stark of course!

There's a thread around with all the SDN player's IDs.

Right here. Me and my mates take it in turns to be the support player. Then again, we are in a fledgling tournament clan so teamwork is meat and bead to us.

Well I've played the demo and LOVE it!
Unfortunately my computer (Dell 5150) is to crappy to play the game, need to wait for some money so I can buy a better graphics card or something.

Too bad the game doesn't have an ER warhead option for your tac-nukes. It would be awesome, small fireball, wimpy mushroom cloud, less damage to buildings, and a larger kill radius.

I've heard some complaints in other RTS forums that all the sides in WiC are basically mirrors of each other, only with different abilities. How true is this, and does it really bother you?

Reasonably true, and it does irritate me a bit. They even went so far as to just give every unit a generic name -- "Heavy Tank" instead of "M1 Abrams" or "T80". I still might buy the game, since the MP was reasonably enjoyable (though it's got nothing on
Opposing Fronts, IMO), but since I have 30 million games I need to get and it's not even Christmas yet and I have about 0 money, it might be awhile.
Of course, there are some differences. Soviet or NATO carpet bombing is just by default never going to be as cool as the US's.

Infantry is near useless.
They need to remove the useless "sprint ability" and give them "entrench" ability; in which they construct trenches, lay out barb wire, and dig log shelters, which then can withstand all but a napalm strike; and even can survive a nuke.
In short, make properly dug in infantry a bitch to remove; they'll get dug in like ticks; and you can't see them unless you're a scout helo or infantry unit.
